1 – 20 of 25 Works in Bad Parent Grigori Rozanov

  • Bad Parent Grigori Rozanov ×
  1. It's Fall of 2014 and Ilya Rozanov has cut all ties with Russia. But there's no such thing as a clean break, and leaving isn't as simple as never going back.
    -
Basically a very self-indulgent fic about how hard it would be for Ilya to actually move on from the pain of the past and to go no contact with his family in a timeline where Grigori is still alive. Also, Ilya deserves to be known and loved by more people than just Shane and Sveta. Forced/Found Family here we come.

  2. They had quietly, in the vacuum that he now realized always existed between them, made a universe. Rearranged their souls and lives into one.
    ---
Shane Hollander knows that having a soulmate can be a death sentence for his hockey career.

Ilya Rozanov knows that having a soulmate can just be a death sentence.

But no one gets to choose their soulmate.

OR Shane and Ilya shared the deepest kind of soulmate bond that makes it physically painful to separate for long periods but still have to discover what it means to choose each other.

A shoulder injury sees Ilya retire two years before his husband. Too much time on his hands means Ilya falls down the well-trodden path of too much childhood trauma leading to a lot of therapy leading to becoming a stand-up comedian.

LAZY • 1 hour of comedy by Ilya ROZANOV

    ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - ‘Highly entertaining.’

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - ‘Very funny, surprisingly insightful.’

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - ‘Queer, loud and very, very funny.’

⭐️ - ‘Technically competent show but extremely arrogant and somewhat debauched.’

    -----
That leads to both another round of laughter and a cheer. On stage, Ilya grins.

“Yes, but I knew even then that staying in Russia was maybe a very bad idea. Because queer and Russian is recipe for very traditional Russian tragedy, yes? Which, generally speaking, are not good.” Ilya holds up a hand, counting on his fingers. “Napoleonic Wars, Stalingrad, Chernobyl, getting caught sucking cock with your Coach’s son. All of these would be bad, no? Very high body counts, probably.”

There’s a lot of laughter now. In the front row, Svetlana wipes at her eyes, shoulders shaking.

But, when he’s twelve years old and living through the worst time of his life, Ilya discovers that hockey is not as certain as he had thought it would be. Grappling with a heritage and powers that he doesn’t understand, Ilya’s got to think about life off the ice if he ever wants to escape out from underneath the thumb of his father.

His body did this chore for him - taking a beating, painfully building muscles - and in reward he got his father’s approval. In much lesser reward he also got his mama’s worry, which, while he loved her care, he wished she would worry less. Wished she could see that he knew the way the world worked and he could fit into it. Wished she would not remind him that she loved her gentle Ilyushenka and that he did not need to hide, not from her.

Ilya Rozanov vs his body :)

  8. According to widespread folklore, a red cardinal is a spiritual messenger or a sign that a deceased loved one is near.

Snow has been falling since late afternoon the day before and has only just stopped, from what Ilya can tell anyway. The whole house is quiet beneath the blanket of snow. It feels so empty and he would feel lonely if he wasn't so fucking happy to be away from Andrei and The Colonel.

    And he's not alone, anyway.

Because there is a red something just outside.

    ___

Ilya keeps seeing cardinals when needs them most.

  9. Svetlana knows about Jane. It's frankly insulting for Ilyusha to think otherwise.

She just never expected to have to call him for help. During the Olympics. In Russia. In the dead of night.

    -
Or, it's Sochi 2014 and Russia has lost to Latvia. Grigori Rozanov, not yet compromised by illness, punishes his son for shaming the family. When Svetlana finds an injured and emotionally fragile Ilya, she knows she needs somewhere safe for him to recover. And there's only one person in Russia who Sveta trusts with her Ilyusha: Canada's Golden Boy, Shane Hollander.

  11. “I’m Shane. Hollander. Vampire hunter,” The introduction would be madness anywhere else. But Shane had ducked out to catch his breath, exhausted from the constant stream of networking and chatter with other vampire hunters. He was a newly minted hunter and beamed with pride to tell anyone about it. He was certain this stranger wouldn’t be scandalised but when he held out his hand, they just stared at it.

“Ilya Rozanov,” he introduced himself, then flashed Shane a wicked smile, “vampire.”

Shane hunts feral vampires. Ilya is a vampire, but Shane's not interested in hunting him - no, he wants something far more dangerous. When the lines of their rivalry start to blur, they find themselves entangled in an age old conflict that will have far-reaching consequences.

  12. A look at the year that Ilya still played for Boston, except they explicitly state their dom/sub relationship, and explore that dynamic (and kink) together.

    ————

When they first started, it was by accident. Ilya followed Shane’s lead; he read his body and responded with his own. Shane liked to be on his knees for Ilya, and Ilya liked to keep him there.

The first time it went wrong. Shane thought it was his fault. It wasn’t.

  13. Shane wasn’t his boyfriend. But for a while it had felt like it. They’d been alone in his house. He’d made them tuna melts and watched TV. They’d cuddled like a real couple. And then he had to go and ruin it. Like he ruins everything. The press won't stop talking about Shane and Rose. He's turning into his mother and for some reason, Scott Hunter is the only one who sees him. And it scares him.

    OR

Ilya spirals after the tuna melt scene and engages in self-destructive behaviors. Scott Hunter notices and refuses to go away.

  14. “Ilya, this whole time you thought Mom was getting a cut?” Shane looked at Ilya with concern in his eyes.

“Yes, that is normal. That is what family does.” Ilya emphasized.

Yuna looked like she was going to be sick. “Oh, Ilya, no. That’s—that’s not normal, sweetie.”

“Is that what your family did?” Shane asked quietly.

  15. Men do not cry. Ilya knows this, as much as he knows that being strong is only part of the battle ahead of him; being seen to be strong matters more. Ilya is twelve years old, and no longer a child. It has been four long, brittle days since his mother— since her accident.

The practice rink is busy, tonight. Under the stern tutelage of Coach Baranov, everyone here is fighting to justify their time on the ice. Hockey, Baranov tells them, often, is not a team sport. Hockey is an act of violence, and of endurance.

Ilya believes he is practiced at both.

  16. “We knew when his words came in that he’d–” Yuna’s voice cracked around the idea, that specific word escaping her. “That he won’t have to know what it feels like to lose his soulmate.”

Because Shane was always going to go first. How must it have felt, to look upon her son and see those words, and know with complete certainty he would go first? Maybe it was better, having as vague of a word as Ilya did on his chest. At least he couldn’t think about it, couldn’t imagine scenarios in which it could be said.

“I assume,” Yuna said, pausing to take a deep breath as though to steel herself, “he said yours last night.”

Ilya nodded, admitting what he didn’t dare say out loud.
