Joe is Japan when the video goes viral, and at first he assumes it's some kind of weird prank. He's a bit disappointed, honestly; the Shane he's known since peewee hockey days isn't the kind of guy to pull a stunt like that.

Shane and Rozanov in a face-off on the ice, Rozanov smirking and, more unusual, Shane smiling widely. Huh.
Joe Airds thinks about Shane Hollander, and has to concede that he might have been the insensitive sports bro in this friendship.

They're having breakfast when he tells them. He only remembers because he'd dreamed weird again last night. This time it was an older boy, who was trying to stop a little golden-haired baby from crying.
“What,” says Mom, in that flat voice she gets when she's trying not to sound surprised.
“...what?” says Dad, who clearly hadn't been listening. That's fine, Shane forgets to listen too, sometimes.
“I keep dreaming people I don't know,” Shane repeats patiently. He can be patient.
Shane Hollander habitually ends up in other people's dreams, which is fine. It's a family trait, on both sides, to slip into the dreams of the people you love. What's less fine is how Shane keeps dreaming strangers.
