  1. Ilya Rozanov has signed with the Ottawa Centaurs and the world is very confused.

Zane Boodram is probably the one person affected the most by this shocking turn of events and it couldn't come at a worse time. His mentors and fellow captains are gone, and he's been left to lead the worst team in the league by himself, which is bad enough, but now he has to deal with Ilya Rozanov joining the roster?
The Cents don't have a winning legacy to protect, but they do have a positive team culture built up over years by their previous captain. Bood is determined to make sure that all the work doesn't go to waste, so he's not letting the Russian Menace come in and change it.

Leaving Boston was supposed to be easy.
Ilya wasn't supposed to feel bad about. And he doesn't. Not really.
This is a good thing. A new team. The start of a new life with Shane.
But the Ottawa Centaurs are a mess and things would be a lot easier if Zane Boodram would stop being so weird about it all...

  2. An AU where Shane and Ilya meet in very different circumstances. Ilya’s a generational talent, a star and recognised wherever he goes thanks to his talent on stage and the lucrative magazine and advertising contracts his fame brings him. He lives his life in Boston as best he can but recently someone has taken against him and while the threatening letters were unpleasant they didn’t bother him much. He was more bothered by the knife in his side that stopped him performing for months, but now he’s healed and due on stage in a few hours. He hopes he can still make it because he hadn’t been expecting a stranger with uncertain motives to approach him in a deserted alley. When he finds out exactly who he is his life gets much more complicated. Ilya Rozanov has various problems in his life but right now the most pressing one is the dark haired freckled man who’s crashed into his life.

  3. Ilya wasn’t trying to kill himself that night. Suicide is something that belongs to his mother- he’s just lazy, and he wishes Shane would stop making excuses for him.

Shane has everything under control. His body is a tool, the one that’s given him both his career and his relationship, and he wishes Ilya would stop prying into the way he maintains it.

or: Ilya learns a whole lot more about his mother, Shane remembers a whole lot more about his childhood, and they both get diagnosed.

  4. It was the strangest drunken sensation he’d ever felt in his life — the whoosh that immediately followed and the sudden lightness of his limbs. Blinking in slow surprise, Ilya looked down and realized that he was, much to his chagrin, now stuck against his bedroom wall, his wrists seemingly glued on either side of him.

“Booby trap,” he whispered, giggling to himself as he tugged at his bindings.

There was a scuffling noise and Ilya looked up just in time to watch in awe as Shane Hollander literally dropped down from the ceiling.

Or, Ilya’s (hot) new roommate might be a spider. Ilya has a crush on him anyway.

  5. "I am bringing my new boyfriend to practice. But everyone must be nice. He's little bit embarrassed, because of his job."

"Oh, what does he do? Is he a zamboni driver or something lol?"

"His day job is in management, but he has a side hustle as a Shane Hollander impersonator. He does birthday parties."

Ilya is desperate for his amazing new boyfriend to meet his friends. There's just one problem. He's dating famous hockey player Shane Hollander, and he's worried that his LGBTQ+ Beer League teammates will all get starstruck. Instead, he comes up with a solution: Tell them that he's dating a Shane Hollander impersonator, instead of the real thing.

Sequel to Catfished By Shane Hollander!? (But you don't have to read that to understand this)

  6. Even after getting married, Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov are still a secret. No one, aside from their most trusted people, knows about their relationship.

Sick of hiding, they make a plan to soft launch their relationship for the world to lose its mind about it.

If that goes as smoothly as they plan it, is for their future selves to find out.

  7. Shane Hollander loves his future husband. Sure, his future husband is oblivious sometimes, but he means well, and he always listens.

Ilya Rozanov thinks his future husband doesn’t understand the dark side of hockey. He’s about to learn differently.

The result: two decisions nobody who even slightly follows the NHL expected their two former rival stars to make.

  9. Ilya's been taking care of himself for so long, and not always doing a very good job of it. It would be understandable, Ilya thinks, if Shane didn’t really know how to do it yet. Not when they’re only a month into being married and three months into being honest and less than a year since that hotel room in Tampa, where Shane had climbed into his lap and let Ilya cry into his shoulder and held him like no one had held Ilya since he was very small.

  10. Shane Hollander spends the 2010 Prospect Cup Tournament in a small room, being questioned by police. He thinks that telling the truth will save him. Instead, he’s betrayed by his teammates and pushed to the forefront of a scandal that destroys his chances with any NHL team. Only one professional hockey league is willing to look the other way.

Desperate to play, Shane Hollander signs a contract with the KHL, packs his things, and moves to Russia.

  13. Following an afternoon of sex and tuna melts, Shane goes searching for the explicit rules of what being 'friends with benefits' entails. In his humble opinion, they're nailing it.

Once friendship is on the table, Shane reconsiders the usefulness and immutability of the public rivalry narrative. Surely the NHL can make just as much money from a bromance as it can from a rivalry?

A missed call from J.J., a dinner at All-Stars, and an ill-considered mad dash to the airport send Shane's season in a very different direction to the disciplined three-peat he'd been planning back in October.

"This rivalry thing: it was everyone else who said we hated each other off the ice. There’s no rule that says we have to keep doing that forever.” Shane stared outside, past the blinding billboards and down at the streets below. “It was nice. Hanging out, last time.”

He knew what it looked like when Rozanov shut down, when he closed himself off and pushed the world away. He’d finish the conversation abruptly, curt, clipped, and retreat. So Shane knew he’d won when Rozanov finally answered with: “Are we six years old, Hollander? Asking if I want to play in sandbox with you?"

  14. “Okay. Um. Hi. I wanted to introduce myself.”

“… I know who you are,” Luca said, and then kicked himself internally. Maybe he should have stuck to French after all.

"You're a strong all-round forward," Hollander said, and Luca was actually relieved when his instinct was to blush, or say something - anything - rather than to just white out on the spot. Shane fucking Hollander knew about him. Shane fucking Hollander's team had made the playoffs; they sure as fuck weren't getting top five first-round draft picks; but Hollander knew about him all the same.

    "I hope this," Luca said.

"You'll be high in the draft order, I think," Hollander said, and Luca's stomach flipped over. Sure, he had - still had - a Rozanov poster on his wall, and he'd argue with anyone willing to take the other side that Rozanov was the better player of the two of them, but Montréal had the better team (or had, for the past few years; this year, Montréal was out of the playoffs and the Raiders were through to the conference finals). But praise from Shane Hollander was praise from Shane Hollander.

  15. Six months after Boston went dark, Shane Hollander walks into the Raiders' arena with a handgun to do the one thing he won't let a patrol do for him. The thing walking the visiting-team corridor says his name.

What follows is eight days in two borrowed rooms and a school with a fence: a pulse where there wasn't one, a nurse who wants to know for how long, a friend who will walk you to the door and no farther, and a relationship the two of them never managed to be honest about when they both had a pulse.

  16. “What makes you so confident you can handle him when Montreal couldn’t?” A reporter asks.

“Because he actually listens to me. Montreal didn’t have a damn clue how to handle guys like him. Me? Oh, I already got this kid under my thumb.”

Once celebrated as the NHL’s most promising young player, Shane Hollander’s rookie season collapses after brutally attacking a teammate during a nationally televised playoff game, leaving him suspended, publicly disgraced, and traded to the Boston Raiders.

Months later, Shane arrives in Boston determined to keep his head down and prove himself. But Ilya Rozanov has already taken an unsettling interest in him.

  17. Shane recovered at his parents’ house. For once, he didn’t watch any hockey games after the Metros were knocked out of the playoffs. He knew it baffled his mom, but how was he supposed to tell her that the only thing he wanted to do while watching was analyze and pick apart the plays with Ilya fucking Rozanov — the man who had eviscerated his heart? Some days Shane felt so empty he didn’t know if he even cared about hockey anymore. That always sent him spiraling into a panic, because how could he not care about hockey? All Shane Hollander was supposed to care about was hockey. -- Or, what if Ilya had ended things in the hospital when he went to visit Shane?

  18. Ilya Rozanov had been talking to Harris Drover on Grindr for six months now—which was probably way longer than Grindr’s social etiquette and common sense dictated, but the guy was just something else, and Ilya hadn’t been able to convince himself to stop even once it was clear that they were never going to meet, and that sexting was all he was ever gonna get.

Harris was—he was fun, in that dry, sarcastic, bitchy, bratty way that Ilya went absolutely feral for. There was just one thing—one tiny, minuscule problem—well, more of a small wrinkle. Inconsequential at best, really.

Harris was catfishing Ilya with pictures of Shane Hollander.

or; the risk Ilya took was calculated... but boy, is he bad at math.

  19. “Who are you talking to?” Sveta is looking with a raised eyebrow, at Ilya’s delighted face.

“Ah, I am talking to my catfish.”

“What do you mean, your catfish?” Ilya angles the phone so Sveta can see the shirtless picture on the screen.

“This guy is pretending to be Shane Hollander on Grindr. It’s pretty funny. He’s cropped the face out, but he’s using pictures from the billboard next to my apartment.”

Or: Ilya Rozanov is sure he's being catfished- why would the real Shane Hollander be on Grindr, talking to random university of Ottawa students? But the more he talks to Wayne, the more he starts to like him, and the more he wishes Wayne would just come clean so they can finally be together.

  20. For the first time in nineteen years, a sudden, blinding flash of color flooded Ilya’s world.

It was as if a dormant switch inside him had been violently flipped on. His Alpha instincts, usually as dormant and indifferent as the rest of him, surged forward with a fierce, possessive roar that made his blood run hot. The dull gray reality he had inhabited his entire life vanished, replaced by a single, absolute, unyielding mandate:

    That Omega is mine.

Ilya didn’t know his name. He didn’t know his story, or his background. But as his blue eyes locked onto the stunning stranger, watching the way his warm brown eyes crinkled with a soft, gentle laugh, Ilya knew with absolute certainty that he would stop at nothing until that Omega belonged to him.
