  1. Shane Hollander has built himself around routine, his life blood is hockey. Struggling to understand his team off the ice and the people around him, he carves out a few silent hours to himself. It's just him and his skates. But the hard fought peace is fragile, like cracks in too thin ice. It only takes a slight impact to shatter. Shane is fighting to hold his team and himself together as everything comes crashing down around him.

Someone hacks into Rose Landry's phone in a club, they then release the images of Shane's texts online and all hell breaks loose. Shane is left to pick up the pieces. Ilya makes some choices in the aftermath that change everything. Shane decides to stop hiding and Ilya is a possessive asshole who makes it everyone else's problem. With far less reason to hide himself anymore, Shane begins to show more of who he really is behind the polite, media worthy façade. They instead find a team who are ready to fight the world for each other and a found family that has far reaching threads.

Maybe Shane can have both Hockey and Ilya. The world will just have to deal with it.

  3. “You dropped out of college!” Svetlana repeated as she threw her hands up. “You had two semesters left in Boston! You were top of your program! You talked about moving to New York, opening your own firm, taking over the world—and now your big life ambition is sitting on a plush couch in the Canadian tundra waiting for Mr. Real Estate to finish his stock trades?”

Ilya laid his fork down with a deliberate clink against the ceramic plate. He rested his elbows on the table, leaning forward, his blue eyes sharp and terrifyingly clear.

“Sveta,” he began, his tone dropping into that familiar, authority. “In Boston, I woke up at six every morning to run in the freezing rain. I spent eight hours in lectures surrounded by rich idiots who thought they were geniuses because their dads bought a building. I spent four hours every night memorizing financial models I already knew how to build in my sleep, just so some eighty-year-old professor could give me a checkmark on a piece of paper. The point is, why would I fight the world when I can just enjoy the simple pleasures of life? I spent my whole life surviving. Shanya gave me a place where I don’t have to.”

  4. For the first time in nineteen years, a sudden, blinding flash of color flooded Ilya’s world.

It was as if a dormant switch inside him had been violently flipped on. His Alpha instincts, usually as dormant and indifferent as the rest of him, surged forward with a fierce, possessive roar that made his blood run hot. The dull gray reality he had inhabited his entire life vanished, replaced by a single, absolute, unyielding mandate:

    That Omega is mine.

Ilya didn’t know his name. He didn’t know his story, or his background. But as his blue eyes locked onto the stunning stranger, watching the way his warm brown eyes crinkled with a soft, gentle laugh, Ilya knew with absolute certainty that he would stop at nothing until that Omega belonged to him.

  5. The man doesn’t look phased. On the contrary, he’s acting like it’s completely normal to talk about sex with a stranger.

“Well, my wife wants me to…” David hesitates, but what damage could it do? Tomorrow, he’ll be on a plane back to Ottawa and he’ll never see this man again. “She wants me to try being more dominant.”

The Russian grins. “Oh, you have met the right person.”

Or: In 2014, David and Ilya become friends and start swapping sex advice. It's too bad they don't recognize each other.

  6. After spending an embarrassing amount of time researching baseball, I came to a realization: if Shane isn't playing hockey, then baseball is absolutely his next great love. It's a sport with one of the largest percentages of Asian players among the major North American leagues, and one that lets him push himself to the absolute limit as a rare two-way player. Honestly, what more could Shane ask for?

Yuri, from Tadaima, Okaeri, is back! This time, she's the daughter of Alpha!Ilya and Omega!Shane, who are now captains of the Boston Bears and the Boston Red Sox, respectively.

  7. “Well…” Ilya grinned mischievously, “I know you were upset about not getting a nice WAG basket. I am not sure if I did this right, though.” He stood up and grabbed the first and smallest basket and handed it to Shane who was still sitting on the couch. Nowadays most women just sent everything in a cardboard box. Ilya’s basket looked like one of the ones at the grocery store near Easter time, but tiny. It was woven and clumsily wrapped in cellophane. “The woman at the store said I needed a bag to put the basket in. I do not see the point of this, but for you I wanted the best, so I bought the bags.”

Long distance relationships are hard. Long distance relationships when no one knows you’re in one are the hardest. Shane and Ilya find creative ways to stay connected using the tradition of WAG baskets given to Voyageurs' players before playoffs.

  11. "You signed with the LA Kings?" she demanded. "What were you thinking? You know the plan. We'd go to the draft, get first pick, and go to Montreal."

"What are you even talking about?" Shane shot back. "If I got first pick, I'd go to Boston, not Montreal. And I don't even want to go to Montreal."

"Why?" Mom asked immediately. "They're one of the best teams in the league. One of the Original Six."

Something inside him snapped, and before he even realized it, he switched to Japanese.

"I don't know," he said, his voice tight. "Maybe because they're full of racists and homophobes. Do you even understand what I'm saying? Or have you become so white you forgot your own language?"

  14. So, I'm trying something a little different with this new installment in the series, and I know it won't be everyone's cup of tea.

As much as I adore M/M, I've always wanted to throw my hat into the very small pool of Female!Shane/Male!Ilya stories. I've also been itching to write the actor!Shane trope for quite some time, so I finally decided to combine the two.

Another reason I wanted to write this fic is that, while I absolutely love exploring Shane's Japanese heritage, I realized I've been neglecting Ilya's Russian heritage throughout this series. I wanted to give that side of him more attention here and explore it in a way I haven't before.

I really hope you'll give it a chance, and if you do, I'd love to hear what you think. I hope you enjoy it! ❤️

  15. A fiery plane crash claims Ilya Rozanov’s life in January. By April, Shane Hollander is dead of a broken heart. The truth dies with them.

Yuna Hollander will do anything to get her son back, including hiring a shady shaman to resurrect him. There’s just one complication — Shane isn’t coming back alone.

Now there are codependent (not)zombies in her house wearing Ilya and Shane’s faces. When they inexplicably act more like a married couple than the bitter rivals she expected, Yuna is convinced that they came back wrong.

It’s easier than admitting she never understood them from the start.

  19. There was something wrong with Shane Hollander.

He had known it since he was young.

Most people-most kids, in general-had different hobbies and interests. Their attention drifted from one thing to another. They became fascinated with something for a few weeks, only to abandon it for the next shiny obsession that caught their eye.

Shane had never been like that.

When it came to him, there was only ever one thing: hockey.

    Obsessive.

That was the word most people used when referring to his temperament.

  20. “Hi Milana,” he murmured, voice gentle. “I’m Ilya, your father’s brother. Did your mama tell you I was coming over?”

Milana nodded and pulled her bottom lip into her mouth, gaze contemplative as Ilya held out a hand to her. He didn’t touch her, didn’t broach the barrier of the doorframe, just held his palm out, a gesture of vulnerability, exposing soft skin. When he’d been a child, listening out for the sound of his father’s footfalls down the hall, trying to guess at what mood the man was in that day, if today was a day he would likely be hit, those gestures of vulnerability–upturned palms, tears on cheeks–had been the only thing he’d trusted. The wounded animal in his sternum reaching out for comfort, seeking safety in the fragility of others. Proof that he wasn’t the weakest one.

Or: After spending Christmas with the Hollanders Ilya realises he has unfinished business in Moscow; namely, saying goodbye to his mother's grave and recovering the pieces of his history. Before meeting Shane at the cottage for their second summer together - and before upending his life and moving to another country once again - Ilya decides to return to his home city and attempt to lay his past to rest.
