After Shane’s kidnapping, Ilya vows he’ll never let anybody touch Shane again. The voice in his mind that sounds like his mother—her face lost to time, now even her voice fading away—urges him to leave the family business and embrace Shane as an honest man. The voice that sounds like his father’s tells him to lock up his heart and throw away the key. That way, nobody can hurt him again. (Or: after Shane is kidnapped and almost killed, Ilya chooses a different path. He’s as much his father’s son as he is his mother’s, after all.)

With Bloodied Feet Across The Hallowed Ground by NoCoastPosts
Heated Rivalry (TV), Game Changers | Heated Rivalry - All Media Types, Game Changers Series - Rachel Reid

Rozanov shouts angrily and grabs him by the shoulders, slamming him into the ground. Stay down. Shane is winded by the impact but immediately bucks his body in an attempt to throw Rozanov off of him. Stay where I put you. Rozanov’s fist flies into his stomach, then his chin, making Shane drop flat underneath him. Be good. Shane sinks into the dirt like a dead man, like a bird, like a bone, the pretty thing between Rozanov’s teeth that makes his snarling spit turn soft pink in the light. It’s horrible. It’s nirvana. Shane runs for his life. Ilya follows close behind.

Shane watched her eyes drift up in thought before looking back down, settling onto his face. With careful consideration she asked her next question. “Mr. Hollander, is there a chance you could be pregnant?” Shane sputtered at that very notion. No! Absolutely not! He couldn't be! Obviously! He denied that very idea. Or Shane has a cryptic pregnancy and goes into labor right before a game against Boston.

Heated Rivalry (TV), Game Changers Series - Rachel Reid

Scott and Ilya put up a united front against all the homophobic assholes in the league. Well, maybe not that united. But at least they're changing the narrative a bit, one homophobe at a time.

Sometimes, Ilya Rozanov is just a weird guy. Obviously, the Bears aren’t going to say that to his face, not when he’ll chirp them into oblivion for it, but sometimes it just gets out of hand.
Like the late night phone calls where he’s talking aggressively in Russian. The random knowledge he has offhand about how far you can throw a human being and have them come out okay. The Russian death metal he forces them to listen to, calling it family bonding. The scars he refuses to talk about.
Cliff Marleau thinks he might be in the Russian mob. The Bratva, or whatever they call it.
Ilya doesn't tell his team about his family until they've already invented a thousand conspiracies about it. Like him being in the mob. Or having rabies.
In which Ilya Rozanov and Yuri Plisetsky are brothers, and the world changes with the most minute of connections.
Now featuring Shane and Ilya's POVs on the canon divergence starting from chapter 5.

“Fu-uck,” the man above him coos. “There you go, pretty boy. See? That wasn’t so hard." Shane whines from beneath the tape as the fingers that were wrapped around him come up to brush against his face. “I am going to take the tape off,” says his captor. “But if you fucking scream, that will be the last thing you ever do. You understand?” Shane goes looking for his husband around the cottage and gets more than he bargained for.

“You know, I could marry Svetlana,” Ilya said, apropos of nothing. Shane looked up from his phone, frowning. “To get an American passport,” Ilya went on, casual as anything, like they were talking about travel plans or a trade rumor. Not Shane’s worst nightmare. “It would be like a business agreement. She would do it.” “Okay,” Shane said slowly, already hearing the faint crack in his voice. “Sure. A business agreement. But…It’s not like you could just fake it. You’d have to live with her. She would get to come home to you.” “Yes, but it would be like roommates,” Ilya said. “We could still be this-” he gestured loosely between them, like that explained everything. “She wouldn’t mind.” “She’d be your wife, Ilya.” The word was like a lash, even to his own ears. --- What if the "I could marry Svetlana" scene and Ilya being LOST in the sauce sex scene had a baby? And that baby was angst + comfort + shower sex?

Shane makes a list: reasons to Come Out on one side and to Stay Safe on the other. It's definitely not meant to accidentally star in the background of his mom's Instagram post for fans to find. But now that the world knows, maybe Shane can finally let himself have everything he's wanted. If only Ilya didn't go out and get engaged the next day. Which is fine! Rozanov was settling down? Shane could settle down, too. He would find himself a nice man.

“Are you hurt?” Ilya presses in the long silence. “Is bad?”
Another indistinct sound, maybe movement, comes over the speaker before Shane talks again. “A little. Maybe. I don't know. I…” he trails off as a background noise draws his attention. “Shit. Shit, Ilya, I have to-”
The call disconnects before Shane can explain what he has to do. Ilya lowers the phone, staring at the blinking four letters above the painfully short call duration, and swipes the redial button without a second thought.

Boston University.
Shane Hollander: Junior, 21, player for the Boston University Terriers, and majoring in Human Physiology.
Ilya Rozanov: Junior, 21, player for the Boston University Terriers, and majoring in finance.
Shane and Ilya work well together on the ice, but there is no confusion that they aren't fans of each other. Shane is constantly fed up with Ilya showing up late and not taking things as seriously as him. Ilya likes to tease him, but he always puts his all in during games. It’s been like this since they started two and half year ago.
Midway through the fall semester, Ilya takes a bad hit and is taken off the ice during the game. Shane comes up with an unorthodox solution to fulfill Ilya's physical needs while he recovers, and Shane's academic needs for extra credit.

AKA giving your teammate blow jobs so he doesn't re-injure his knee and can play hockey is a perfectly reasonable thing to do.

Shane Hollander is benched following the fanmail video that outed his relationship with his rival Ilya Rozanov. While walking alone in Montreal he passes by a sports bar showing the Metros losing without him and he meets two unlikely companions.
“Didn’t mean to interrupt,” says Shane in soft English, looking at the bartender only, “Uh, just saw the game was on when I walked by, wanted to know the score.” He swallows thickly, “Guess we’re losing?”
The man who’d called him a homo ducks and with considerable effort, puts the table back where it had been before. He mutters something that Shane thinks is an apology to the bartender. The other man shakes his hand and reaches for a nearby chair.
In English, the man who’d called him the pride of Montréal says loudly, “A ginger ale for Monsieur Hollander, yes?”
Shane hesitates, then nods at the bartender, who wordlessly starts to pour. The two men finish righting the place and gesture for Shane to sit with them. Shane shouldn’t. But he does as the bartender comes over and sets a glass of ginger ale in front of him.
“So,” says Shane as casually as he can, “Uh, I guess you’re both Metros fans?”
