Team management e-mails him early in the afternoon, but it’s just after helping Jackie feed Ruby and Jade dinner, when Hayden has the chance to go to the bedroom and sit against the bed headboard, that he manages to see and read it. The language is polite but friendly, and the person writing it actually identifies herself as the lady from the team’s media relationship, Nathaly, which immediately makes the exchange feel more real. She calls Hayden by his first name too, which also helps. Hayden has read some official communication before, but they addressed the team as a whole, so he knows this is different. Nathaly is talking to him to know if there’s any way he might billet for next season.

Even though Scott Hunter is a prick, he is a prick that does not deserve this kind of negative attention.” He shrugs, almost casual, and looks Shane up and down. “Plus, am into boys as well as girls. Is honestly not a problem for me.”
