  1. “What were you doing in between one and four?”

Ilya clenches his jaw. He says nothing. Clearly, she smells blood.

“Mister Rozanov,” she leans forward, grabbing the desk as she enunciates, “what were you doing between one and four in the morning?”

Fucking Shane Hollander for the last time, it seems.

Why does the police of this shitty small town care?

    Or

After an exhibition game in a small town, the Montreal Metros and the Boston Raiders find themselves trapped in a hotel by a dangerous snow storm. Perfect for two hockey players sneaking around to hook up, right? But when a violent crime is committed in the hotel, everyone in both teams becomes a suspect. And there is nowhere to go.

  2. A snowstorm strands the Boston Bears in Montreal with not enough hotel rooms and nowhere to go in their rival’s city.
On a reckless impulse, Ilya volunteers to stay with Shane Hollander.
His teammates think it’s a joke.
    Shane plays along.
No one knows they were in the same bed just hours ago.

  3. Shane Hollander has built himself around routine, his life blood is hockey. Struggling to understand his team off the ice and the people around him, he carves out a few silent hours to himself. It's just him and his skates. But the hard fought peace is fragile, like cracks in too thin ice. It only takes a slight impact to shatter. Shane is fighting to hold his team and himself together as everything comes crashing down around him.

Someone hacks into Rose Landry's phone in a club, they then release the images of Shane's texts online and all hell breaks loose. Shane is left to pick up the pieces. Ilya makes some choices in the aftermath that change everything. Shane decides to stop hiding and Ilya is a possessive asshole who makes it everyone else's problem. With far less reason to hide himself anymore, Shane begins to show more of who he really is behind the polite, media worthy façade. They instead find a team who are ready to fight the world for each other and a found family that has far reaching threads.

Maybe Shane can have both Hockey and Ilya. The world will just have to deal with it.

  4. When Shane was outed half-an-hour before the NHL Draft, he thought it would be the worst day of his life. And when he proceeded to slide all the way into the third round, he wasn’t sure how he would survive. Then his new team banished him back to the OHL for two years until he aged out, and Shane burned at the humiliation.

On his good days, though, Shane could admit that it’d made him stronger. He was a better player now, and more comfortable in himself, and more ready to take the NHL by storm. Every time he’d thought that he was finished, he’d been wrong.

So maybe he’d survive playing on the same team as Ilya fucking Rozanov.

Shane is outed publicly 30 minutes before the first draft pick is announced. Ilya goes #1 overall to the Boston Bears. Shane is picked #65 overall in the third round… also by the Boston Bears.

  5. It was a Friday when the video dropped.

“What is happening?” He asked St Simon, who was holding his phone tight to his chest, his expression odd. “Someone has died?”

Across the room he could see Marlow moving slowly upright from where he had been doing floor stretches, his phone in his hand as well, his face pinched.

    “It’s Hollander,” St Simon said.

The bottom of Ilya’s stomach fell out, closely followed by the rest of Ilya’s organs. His chest hurt so acutely that he thought he must be having a heart attack.

“Not dead,” St Simon added quickly, reaching out to grab Ilya’s shoulder when Ilya’s knees actually buckled. “Jesus, sorry. I should have - no it’s just -”

“Someone tell me what the fuck is going on,” Ilya snapped, “and everyone else shut up.”

Marlow reached him now, held his phone out to Ilya, open already to an article with a headline huge enough Ilya could easily make out the HOLLANDER blaring out of it even before his eyes focused and he took the phone from Marlow.

A video is posted online, for Shane it feels like a death sentence. For some parts of him, it is.

  6. “Hello? What is going on? Did you mean to call me?” Ilya asked nervously, glancing around at his team to make sure they weren’t focused on him, confirming that most of them were either undressing and checking their own phones or teasing St. Simone about the new tattoo he had gotten the other day.

“I—I think—” Shane stuttered, and Ilya frowned when he heard another scream from Shane’s end of the line that didn’t sound like a gleeful hockey celebration. Was there something beeping loudly, too?

“I think the plane is crashing.”

And Ilya’s world came crumbling down.

After the tuna melt incident, Shane calls Ilya from a plane that is going down.

  7. The Metros were fine with hiring for diversity but they don’t want him to be the highest paid player on their team. This leads to Shane to think the Metros aren’t where he will be his entire career.

Svetlana knows Ilya, him deciding to come to the NHL, means he wants out of Russia even if it isn’t right away and forces him to apply for a green card.

  8. For the first time in nineteen years, a sudden, blinding flash of color flooded Ilya’s world.

It was as if a dormant switch inside him had been violently flipped on. His Alpha instincts, usually as dormant and indifferent as the rest of him, surged forward with a fierce, possessive roar that made his blood run hot. The dull gray reality he had inhabited his entire life vanished, replaced by a single, absolute, unyielding mandate:

    That Omega is mine.

Ilya didn’t know his name. He didn’t know his story, or his background. But as his blue eyes locked onto the stunning stranger, watching the way his warm brown eyes crinkled with a soft, gentle laugh, Ilya knew with absolute certainty that he would stop at nothing until that Omega belonged to him.

  10. Just before his 21st birthday, Shane Hollander left the team that drafted him and signed on with Boston Raiders, his one-time rival. He left his parents, his apartment, his routine, the rumors swirling around the Metros locker room, and the country he calls home. In their place he has a six foot Russian in his bed and a new team of strangers on the ice. Can he learn how to navigate their expectations while hiding his relationship with their star center before the secrets he's been hiding from Ilya bleed into their future together? And if he can manage that, can he also help bring the Raiders their next Stanley Cup before his team learns the truth?

  11. “I’ve been looking at Twitter,” Ilya said, one hand on the wheel and the other playing with the hair at the nape of Shane’s neck. It wasn’t doing much to calm the stiffness in his shoulders. “Is not so bad, most people are more mad at your GM than you. It helps that everything is so mysterious.”

“Really?” Pava asked, his head appearing from the backseat. “I see people very mad at him.”

    “Not helping, Pava.”

  12. Boston, while they usually draft players they know to be aggressive, see Shane Hollander, classically Canadian, composed, and calculating, and realize they have an opportunity. Not to reform their image necessarily, but to put out the narrative of a better influence. No one expects Shane Hollander to snarky, suave, and all together trouble for the league.

Montreal sees Ilya Rozanov for exactly what he is, brutal, talented, and masculine. He’s the leadership the Voyagers need, he’s tough on his teammates, on himself, and he doesn’t take shit from anybody. However, he’s too quiet off the ice, and it’s unsettling. He’s everything and nothing they thought he would be.

  13. "If you need a cat, and you deserve a cat, the universe will make sure that a cat finds you. That's the Cat Distribution System at work," the woman explains.

"But I don't need a cat," Shane says, baffled.

"Are you sure?" the bearded guy says, looking down at the box, where Shane is still stroking the kitten's head.

"Yes?" Shane says, frowning as the kitten rubs its small, bewhiskered cheek against his finger.

Shane finds a stray kitten; Ilya not so slowly loses his mind.

  14. “I know you said you couldn’t do this week,” a woman was yelling from outside, “but I have to take an extra shift, and Magda is away. Ilya! Are you th-” She paused upon finally stepping inside, a colourful backpack hanging over her shoulder and a bag in her hand. “Oh.” Shane could hear Rozanov scrambling behind him, probably wiping his stomach off and pulling his clothes out of their rumpled sex state, before he stepped into view of the door. The small child who had been staring at Shane with her gigantic blue eyes turned at the movement, and her face split into a wide grin. “Papa!” Picking up right after the tuna melt scene Shane is confronted with Ilya Rozanov's secret child, a move that everyone except for the child is embarrassed and awkward about.

  15. “We do not say anything about the Hollander situation,” LeClaire tells them even though it sounds like he’s already resigned to what he knows is going to happen.

After all, Roz gets extremely mad whenever it’s brought up. Not that Cliff can blame him, he’s pretty sure that Roz liked Hollander before this (wouldn’t chirp him half as much if he didn’t). Finding out that he’s such a bastard must sting.

Not to mention that Roz does not mess around with people that disrespect girls. Or women. Or kids. Or dogs. Or the elderly (excluding Scott Hunter). Or really anyone, if it’s for petty stupid reasons.

“Of course,” Cliff agrees for both of them since Roz is still too busy texting someone.

It’s apparently not good enough for LeClaire because he asks, “Roz?”

“Just one second,” he answers without raising his eyes from his phone or stopping his typing. “Need to get my Jane to agree with something. She’s very stubborn.”

Or. My take on the 'their text leak and now everybody thinks that Shane is an abusive bastard' premise. Featuring Ilya giving a presser, Marly realizing in real time who 'Jane' is and the internet reacting to the craziness.

  18. If there was one thing Ilya was proud of during his time as Captain in Boston, it was the community he created. Yes, they were a good team, but under Ilya’s leadership they’d become a decent one too.

He didn’t have time for locker room bullshit. Racism. Homophobia. Hazing. It was immature and unnecessary. The first step in having a successful team, in his eyes, was the safety of “his” players. During his first speech as captain, he made it clear that the nonsense would not be tolerated.

The guys weren’t perfect, but they didn’t ask questions.

Until, of course, Jeremy Stone joined the roster.

  19. Time for the highlight of the night.

As Boston’s General Manager, Barry had plenty of professional goals for his evening at the NHL awards. His singular personal goal, however, was to see Coach Theriault pop a fucking blood vessel.

He and LeClaire had already succeeded in trapping Theriault in conversation when Barry heard a very familiar Russian accent from over by the bar.

Well, a good manager knows how to delegate.

Barry waved Rozanov over to join them. Yuna Hollander noticed and stuck close to the kid’s side, her sharp gaze assessing as she too moved to join the conversation. Even better. Even fucking better.

Beside him, Theriault’s face had already turned a dangerous shade of red.
