It was a Friday when the video dropped.
“What is happening?” He asked St Simon, who was holding his phone tight to his chest, his expression odd. “Someone has died?”
Across the room he could see Marlow moving slowly upright from where he had been doing floor stretches, his phone in his hand as well, his face pinched.
“It’s Hollander,” St Simon said.
The bottom of Ilya’s stomach fell out, closely followed by the rest of Ilya’s organs. His chest hurt so acutely that he thought he must be having a heart attack.
“Not dead,” St Simon added quickly, reaching out to grab Ilya’s shoulder when Ilya’s knees actually buckled. “Jesus, sorry. I should have - no it’s just -”
“Someone tell me what the fuck is going on,” Ilya snapped, “and everyone else shut up.”
Marlow reached him now, held his phone out to Ilya, open already to an article with a headline huge enough Ilya could easily make out the HOLLANDER blaring out of it even before his eyes focused and he took the phone from Marlow.
A video is posted online, for Shane it feels like a death sentence. For some parts of him, it is.

The week before the 2017 All-Star Game, Ilya Rozanov is placed on IR. Ten days later, he disappears from the league entirely. Boston says nothing, and for once, a notoriously fickle league closes ranks.
Every attempt Shane makes to find him hits a wall. In one last desperate, life-altering bid to reach him, Shane comes out to the world, only to be met with Ilya’s silence.
By the time the 2020/21 season begins, Shane has nothing left but hockey and regret. He builds a dynasty, guts his life, and pins the last scraps of his hope on the Metros’ newest transfer, the dangerously hot-headed Cliff Marlow.
Stepping back into the public eye after the worst three years of his life, all Ilya wants is to find some kind of purpose. Shane is done with him, he made that much clear. Ilya isn't about to try to convince himself otherwise. He just wants to prove he still has some use left in him.
Fortunately for both of them, they're still fucking stupid for each other.

Hayden ran up, grabbed his hand and said in his dad-of-a-kid-having-a-meltdown voice “Hey, hey, it’s going to be okay Shane. They’re going to take good care of you. That appendix is going to come right out and you’ll be back in no time.” Shane’s teary eyes widened and then narrowed. “What?” he gasped out between shallow breaths. “Fuckin' hell, I told him not to say that.” the doctor muttered. “What do you mean? It’s not his appendix? What’s going on?” “Hollander is in labor and the baby is coming very soon, so Pike please let the EMT’s load him up. He’s going to Montreal General. We called his parents and they’re on their way.” ______________________________ Shane Hollander had been under a lot of stress lately, coming out to his team, supporting his secret boyfriend, ect. So something may have slipped through the cracks and was now going to make itself known right here on the ice of this Ottawa vs. Montreal game.

On a Thursday, a video of Canadian star hockey player Shane Hollander goes viral on the internet. The video was taken on the previous Sunday, and it’s not what anybody expects. It’s not a sex tape, or a drunken fight in a bar, or any of the other videos that have been captured of others in the league, but instead, it seems to be a sneakily filmed video of Hollander confronting his former teammates.

The Metros make a request of Shane: can he wait ten, fifteen minutes before he gets in the shower after practice? Just so the rest of them can shower first? It's only fair that they get to go first, since they have wives and girlfriends waiting for them at home, and obviously they can't shower at the same time. They wouldn't want Shane checking them out, or anything.
Shane gets the vicious crashout he deserves and gives the (individualized, highly personal) callouts the Metros deserve.

Ilya sits down carefully and takes Shane’s hand. “I am going to ask you something, and I want you to try not to freak out, okay? Take a breath, think about it.”
That sounds… serious.
“The Centaurs are having a barbeque,” Ilya says. “I would like to go, and I would like you to come with me.”Shane meets the Centaurs. As Ilya's close personal friend slash charity partner from Canada.

Jackie suddenly appeared behind Hayden. She was smiling widely as she took her place next to Hayden, slipping her arm round her husband. "Shane, Ilya, so glad you guys made it!"
With one arm, Rozanov pulled her out of Hayden's embrace and twirled her around. "Ah, I have missed you Jackie. You are looking very sexy today, well done."
Patrice's jaw dropped.
Surely even Ilya Rozanov wasn't flirting with another man's wife in front of her husband and his own husband?
Pat glanced at Kate, giving her his 'I told you so' look.
But Jackie just laughed. "Thank you, Ilya."
"You are very welcome. Is tragic for you now your husband is so old. Anyway, here is gift for old man. I wanted to give Viagra-"
"Oi!"
Jesus, this guy didn't know when to stop, did he?
"-But Shane said was 'inappropriate'," He made finger quotes with his fingers as he spoke and then shrugged, a shit-eating grin on his face. "Sorry, Jackie, I tried to help."
Asshole.
