Shane Hollander has built himself around routine, his life blood is hockey. Struggling to understand his team off the ice and the people around him, he carves out a few silent hours to himself. It's just him and his skates. But the hard fought peace is fragile, like cracks in too thin ice. It only takes a slight impact to shatter. Shane is fighting to hold his team and himself together as everything comes crashing down around him.
Someone hacks into Rose Landry's phone in a club, they then release the images of Shane's texts online and all hell breaks loose. Shane is left to pick up the pieces. Ilya makes some choices in the aftermath that change everything. Shane decides to stop hiding and Ilya is a possessive asshole who makes it everyone else's problem. With far less reason to hide himself anymore, Shane begins to show more of who he really is behind the polite, media worthy façade. They instead find a team who are ready to fight the world for each other and a found family that has far reaching threads.
Maybe Shane can have both Hockey and Ilya. The world will just have to deal with it.

Summer, 2021. Shane Hollander is Major League Hockey's hottest free agent. MLH fans and organizations alike must grapple with their expectations: Hollander is not the young man the league discarded in 2017, for better or worse. There is more to his life than hockey, even if he says frustratingly little about his boyfriend, another player known only as Lily.
When the Ottawa Centaurs lace up for the 2021-2022 season with a stacked lineup, failure is not an option. What the world believes to be the newest iteration of a longstanding rivalry just might be hockey's greatest love story.

The Husband's Out Of The Bag by Anonymous

“Hollander, go back to your bench or—”
And… he just snaps. Throwing away the helmet he wasn’t aware he’s taken off, he barks, his voice booming. “That’s my fucking husband laying on the ice. I have every fucking right to he here. He’s my husband. I make the decisions here. If he…”—he can’t bring himself to complete the sentence, his eyes welling up with unshed tears—“If anything happens to him, all of you, every single fucking one of you, will answer to me. And rest assured, if you fuck up because you are too busy yelling at me to get him the help need needs, I will not be as gracious as I am being right now.”
The uproar in the arena is deafening as the ref finally skates out of his way, but Shane is by Ilya’s side now, his hand clutching his husband's. “I am here, baby,” he repeats over and over again. First in English, then in Russian. “You are okay. You are going to be okay, my love.”

(Secret) Married life has been very generous to Shane and Ilya following a drunken night in 2015. Until Ilya collapses on ice, that is.

"I did not realize until you got here, how much they do not realize what a Montreal locker room actually sounds like."
--or, a slight A/U where Shane didn't stay in Montreal after the cottage just because he wanted to or because he thought it was expected of him and those years after he came out to his team had been worse than he lets on
---OR, Shane acquires a Russian duckling, finally sets the record straight with his man, goes full 'protect the rookie' mode when his duckling is checked during a game in Montreal, and learns how to be part of a team again (in that order)

A career in professional sports meant that weekends were rarely free. But hockey games didn't happen that often on a Sunday, and half of them were retired these days anyway. And Eric couldn't think of a better use of anyone's time than spending it with the people they loved.

“How’s your head, baby?” Shane asks, his voice soft and steady despite the lingering fear. “I have never had any complaints.” “Jesus Christ,” Shane sighs, pinching the bridge of his nose between his finger and thumb. He’s smiling behind his hand, though. The relief in his body is still a palpable thing.

"What the fuck," Marley says, as soon as they're back in the living room; he's one of the loudest voices but is by no means alone—Ovi can hear seven other distinct voices over the poorly contained din. "I thought—hang on, he's cursed?"
"So all the games he played, all the—fuck. What the hell is Montreal doing?" Mamrie asks, like any of them know.
"Do you think Pike and Boiziau know?" Carmie asks, before the rest of his words are overtaken by everyone else yelling about what to do next.
OR: In the moments of Shane and Ilya having a conversation in the kitchen, the Bears have one as well. It's far more muddled.

Shane woke up alone, in pain and confused. He remembered the hit; Marlow had sent him down to the ice. He remembered Ilya visiting before anyone else. He doesn't understand what is wrong; why are more tests being ordered? The C test. The test for being a rare Male Carrier.
He hadn't thought about Carriers since he was in school. Why would he? His mother had done the test when he was a child. It had been negative. So why was he hurting in places he shouldn't? Why was a nice nurse telling him they needed to take him somewhere else for some specialised testing?
When Shane Hollander took a nasty hit on the ice against Boston, he was woken up to a very serious, very shocking discovery. To something he hadn't believed was possible. He now has to deal with the fallout; decisions have to be made, as well as life-altering choices. But first he has to work out how to tell his years-long situationship - who he is completely and totally in love with - that he managed to get him pregnant, when neither of them was aware it was possible. Shane is terrified, confused and furious all at the same time. All he wants is Ilya, but is Ilya still going to want him now?

Ilya knows that no one loves the same version of a person; his Shane is different to Yuna’s Shane, who is different to David’s Shane, who is different to J.J., or Rose, or Hayden’s Shane. And while Ilya knows he’d fall in love with every single version, he’s happy he gets this one. Happy he gets the Shane who lets himself be trusting, and vulnerable, and honest. It makes Ilya wish he could have loved Shane earlier - makes him wish he could have known him longer. But he’s just glad he gets to do it now, here, like this. “We want you to at least consider waiving your no-trade,” his general manager is saying, but the words barely register in Shane’s head. “Ahead of the playoffs, we want to make sure our team cohesion is as strong as possible, and there have been concerns about locker room dynamics . . .”
And of course there are. Of course that’s what this is about.
OR: When Shane comes out to the Voyageurs, a breakdown in team dynamics results in a last-minute trade to their divisional rival. In Boston, Shane and Ilya are forced to figure out whatever it is they're actually doing.

Shane tries not to be disappointed in the way the whole thing has worked out. Because the thing about Rozanov is that his existence is infuriating. And he is so much fun to play against. Shane had almost liked the thought of having a rival and, had the lottery gone a little differently, he and Rozanov would have been drafted to the same division and really delivered on that possibility. They could have really enjoyed it.
As it stands, one of them is going to the southernmost team in the league, and the other is going all the way up North.
Or-
The draft lottery goes a little differently and suddenly there is no rivalry, no joint CCM campaign, and nothing between Shane and Ilya but a charged encounter in a hotel gym and 4,000 kilometres of distance.
A lot of things are different, and some others are too fated to be ruined by something as immaterial as luck.

With a record-breaking transfer fee in the 2018 off-season, Ilya Rozanov moved to Ottawa and wrecked his entire career and legacy in one go. Three years later, in a hole-in-the-wall pizza joint in Canada, a few of the Boston Raiders reckon with why.

Spring, 2021. The Ottawa Centaurs are playoff-bound, Shane Hollander is suing the MLH for discrimination, and Ilya Rozanov wants the rookie that's sleeping with Hollander and stringing Luca Haas along off his f*cking hockey team. He's barely keeping it together as it is.
Meanwhile, the Boston Raiders are playing the long game: trading for Hayden Pike, making sure that if Hollander comes back to the league, they've got their bargaining chip in place. A month later, Pike would agree with them, as news outlets report Hollander's attachment to a player in the league with a familiar alias.

After a year and a half of playing with Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov, the Centaurs could agree on one thing about the couple: everyone still knew almost nothing about their relationship.
The conclusion was very clear: if they wanted answers, it was time to send in the SAPs.
