Shane woke up alone, in pain and confused. He remembered the hit; Marlow had sent him down to the ice. He remembered Ilya visiting before anyone else. He doesn't understand what is wrong; why are more tests being ordered? The C test. The test for being a rare Male Carrier.
He hadn't thought about Carriers since he was in school. Why would he? His mother had done the test when he was a child. It had been negative. So why was he hurting in places he shouldn't? Why was a nice nurse telling him they needed to take him somewhere else for some specialised testing?
When Shane Hollander took a nasty hit on the ice against Boston, he was woken up to a very serious, very shocking discovery. To something he hadn't believed was possible. He now has to deal with the fallout; decisions have to be made, as well as life-altering choices. But first he has to work out how to tell his years-long situationship - who he is completely and totally in love with - that he managed to get him pregnant, when neither of them was aware it was possible. Shane is terrified, confused and furious all at the same time. All he wants is Ilya, but is Ilya still going to want him now?

“It’s not something we’ve discussed too much,” Shane admits reluctantly. “I mean, I think we talked about it once or twice, after being around Hayden’s kids. But…I was afraid…I don’t know if you want…” His sentence falters and he presses a hand to his stomach, inhaling slowly like he’s trying to soothe more nausea. It takes Ilya’s brain a few moments to process, to catch up, to piece together this half-filled puzzle Shane’s laying out for him. “We talked about having babies,” Ilya supplies, arching an eyebrow, “are you trying to say we are…having a baby?” Shane sucks in another slow, controlled breath. “Um, yeah. That’s what I’m trying to say.” “You are pregnant?” Wincing, the shorter man nods. “Mhm.” -or, vignettes of shane's unexpected pregnancy-

okay that one scene of shane holding haydens baby has a GRASP on me so i wanted to write ilya seeing shane hold a baby and his reaction to it (spoiler; he kind of goes insane) ---- Ilya gave up on nonchalance and twisted his body around. Across the banquet hall stood a small group of Metros, at the front were Pike and Hollander with what could only be described as a gaggle of children at their feet. Likely the children of teammates and Pike, he was always popping them out, but that wasn’t what Marleau was referring to. What drew Ilya’s eyes was not Hollander himself, but rather what he was holding. A baby. Hollander was holding a baby.
