Shane Hollander loves playing for the Ottawa Centaurs. Leaving Montreal, as painful as it had been, really has been one of the best decisions he’s ever made.
He gets to play with his husband. He’s supported at all levels, from upper management down to the most casual of fans, and his teammates are genuinely kind and lovely people who care about him and his life and are invested in his well-being.
Considering where he came from, Shane thinks it’s wonderful to work with such caring players who want what’s best for him and notice things about his life. It's really, really great.
Until it isn’t, of course.
“Hollander, what the fuck is that on your face?” Zane Boodram asks in the locker room while they’re changing for game five of the first round of playoffs.

Say It Like You Mean It by NoCoastPosts

“Is simple,” Ilya says. “You say ‘yes’ for ‘no’ and ‘no’ for ‘yes’. You tell me ‘keep going,’ and I hear ‘stop’. Is just opposites, malysh.” “That’s easy for you to say,” Shane grumbles. “I’m the one who has to remember.” “Poor Hollander,” Ilya taunts. “I have to remember, too. But if it’s so much trouble for you, we don’t have to do this.” “Wait, wait,” Shane says hurriedly. “I can do it. C’mon, I swear.” “If you’re sure,” Ilya replies. “Do you want me to keep going?” “Ye-no - no, I mean, no,” Shane answers. “I don’t want this.” Ilya smiles, pushing Shane’s chest and positioning himself over his body. “Good.” or, Shane and Ilya explore consensual non-consent with a twist.

I'll meet you at the cottage by Anonymous
Heated Rivalry (TV), Game Changers Series - Rachel Reid
2026-06-17
“Hi Milana,” he murmured, voice gentle. “I’m Ilya, your father’s brother. Did your mama tell you I was coming over?”
Milana nodded and pulled her bottom lip into her mouth, gaze contemplative as Ilya held out a hand to her. He didn’t touch her, didn’t broach the barrier of the doorframe, just held his palm out, a gesture of vulnerability, exposing soft skin. When he’d been a child, listening out for the sound of his father’s footfalls down the hall, trying to guess at what mood the man was in that day, if today was a day he would likely be hit, those gestures of vulnerability–upturned palms, tears on cheeks–had been the only thing he’d trusted. The wounded animal in his sternum reaching out for comfort, seeking safety in the fragility of others. Proof that he wasn’t the weakest one.
Or: After spending Christmas with the Hollanders Ilya realises he has unfinished business in Moscow; namely, saying goodbye to his mother's grave and recovering the pieces of his history. Before meeting Shane at the cottage for their second summer together - and before upending his life and moving to another country once again - Ilya decides to return to his home city and attempt to lay his past to rest.

Shane doesn’t know how to grocery shop for two. He doesn’t know how to do any of this, really. He’s keenly aware that this was the longest stretch of time he’d be spending alone with Ilya, with any one person ever, outside of his parents.
In a way, it feels like playing house, unpacking the groceries and setting out a set of towels and washcloths for him. It is playing house. This is what it might feel like, to be able to have him all the time. The thought feels impossible to contemplate, terrifying to dwell on for longer than a minute or two at a time.

Wooing One Ilya Rozanov (On Shane’s Behalf) by Anonymous
Game Changers | Heated Rivalry - All Media Types
2026-06-16
Sure, Shane could be a bit neurotic at times, maybe a little socially awkward, but he was Shane goddamn Hollander, and Rozanov should’ve been grateful for even just the opportunity to get to know him. Be with him. Yet there that bastard was, squandering his chance away.
There was no fucking way JJ was going to allow that.
He didn’t care how much of a womaniser that dude was. However straight he seemed to the rest of the world. If there was even a chance it could work out between them JJ was going to make. It. Happen.
And also, hopefully get Shane laid in the process. God knows he could use it.
...
aka JJ still figures out Shane has a crush on Ilya, but this time instead of trying to set Shane up with other guys, he tries to wingman Shane to Ilya..?

“You were right earlier,” Ilya whispers, his voice rough, like he’s forgotten how to speak in the last two hours since saying goodbye to everyone at the shelter. “Thirty-five is a special birthday, but not just for the reasons you said.”
Or:
With no Cup game to play, Shane decides to throw Ilya a surprise 35th birthday. Unfortunately, Ilya has complex feelings about turning 35.

The Chaos Theorem (or: Shane Hollander needs a nap and a therapist. He got Ilya instead) by Anonymous
Game Changers Series - Rachel Reid, Heated Rivalry (TV)

Welcome to the Ultimate Game.
If you’re looking for a chronicle of redemption or, worse yet, a fairy tale ending with a kiss under the snow, you’ve walked into the wrong locker room. This is the story of a sabotage.
For ten years, the hockey world has feasted on the rivalry between two captains with the same hunger one brings to a public execution. And us? We served them the blood on a silver platter, while in the shadows of hotel rooms in Montreal or Boston, we exchanged fluids and secrets with the precision of two spies in enemy territory.
They believe the ice is a sanctuary of heterosexual secrets. They don’t realize that while they were betting on our next elbow to the face, they were witnessing a long, violent decade of foreplay.
Now, it’s time for El Plan.
Shane is the butterfly flapping its wings on an underwear billboard. I am the tornado about to level the entire NHL.
Grab your popcorn. It’s going to be a beautiful massacre.
My name is Ilya Rozanov, and you can thank me later.
Or: how Shane and Ilya gaslit the entire world by officially "starting to date" in 2020.

On a Thursday, a video of Canadian star hockey player Shane Hollander goes viral on the internet. The video was taken on the previous Sunday, and it’s not what anybody expects. It’s not a sex tape, or a drunken fight in a bar, or any of the other videos that have been captured of others in the league, but instead, it seems to be a sneakily filmed video of Hollander confronting his former teammates.

It’s a good thing our mother is dead. If she were alive, she’d be so ashamed of what her son has become. Of course Alexei had to open his big mouth and give a statement to some shitty gossip site, and of course the entirety of the internet is posting it now, because Shane and Ilya took the internet and pop culture by storm a few Marches ago, and keeping them in headline stories keeps people engaged. If it were a random comment, Ilya knew it wouldn’t sting as much as it does, and he would just let it go, but it’s Alexei, and it’s Alexei talking about their mom. Their mom, who Ilya puts on such a pedestal, a woman Ilya and Shane dedicated their charity to, a woman that Ilya strives to do the best for every day. It doesn’t just sting, it’s a shot that’s blasted through his heart. AKA: Alexei opens his big mouth, and the Hollanov Defense Squad responds.

Before Felix could remove his headphones, he heard it. Heavy, borderline panicked breaths. Felix realized that it must be Hollander. His mic was not turned off when he left the interview. Footsteps. And then a door opening and closing. They had filmed the interview that morning at the offices of the Irina Foundation. It sounded like maybe he had gone into his office.
“Hey, what is it? What is wrong?” Another voice. Unmistakable anywhere. Even if Felix hadn’t spent weeks now listening to it, he would still have recognized Ilya Rozanov’s voice.

What if the filmmaker making the documentary about Hollander and Rozanov discovered the truth about their relationship. So he approaches Shane and Ilya about filming them over the course of the 2020/2021 season to create an honest documentary that tells the true story of their lives. Hello! This is my first post, although I am a frequent visitor to this subreddit and have been for years. I have loved hockey all my life, but my real guilty pleasure is staying on top of all the behind the scenes gossip. As you can imagine, Scott Hunter kissing his boyfriend on the ice was a huge day for me!
I recently noticed something with Ilya Rozanov that I don’t think many other people have, and I decided to finally post about it here to see if anyone else shares my opinion. Every hockey fan I’ve talked to in my real life has brushed it off because Rozanov is known as such a womanizer, but I genuinely think he’s in some kind of serious long-term relationship.
Or the year before Ilya transfers to Ottawa, Shane and Ilya learn three things. Creating a charity is a fuck ton of work, coming out isn’t something you do just once, and the whole world seems to think Ilya Rozanov is in a committed relationship.Oh, and Ilya is addicted to Reddit hockey gossip.
