  1. A look at the year that Ilya still played for Boston, except they explicitly state their dom/sub relationship, and explore that dynamic (and kink) together.

    ————

When they first started, it was by accident. Ilya followed Shane’s lead; he read his body and responded with his own. Shane liked to be on his knees for Ilya, and Ilya liked to keep him there.

The first time it went wrong. Shane thought it was his fault. It wasn’t.

  3. Turns out Shane was always a chatterbox, he just needed the right motivation. Have you heard the good word about our lord and saviour Ilya Rozanov?

Part one is a series of scenes wherein David Hollander demonstrates his superior emotional intelligence, Rose Landry collects besties like shiny marbles, Hayden Pike does his best (bless him), Yuna Hollander is everyone's momager, and Svetlana Vetrova commands the will of men.

Part two features Shane learning to extend his newfound communication skills to the bedroom, courtesy of some helpful coaching from Ilya.

  4. Scott can’t stand Ilya Rozanov. Sure, Rozanov is a generational wunderkind, but he’s also annoying as hell and always ready with a chirp.

“Do you have a spot in the nursing home yet, Hunter? I am hearing from my grandma they go fast!”

“Are you getting tired? It must be past your bedtime already!”

“What kind of skating is that? Is your arthritis acting up again?”

Scott’s age is Rozanov’s favorite topic, but now that Scott has come out, he shudders to think about what Rozanov will throw at him this season.

Or, 5 times Rozanov makes fun of Scott for being old, and 1 time he makes fun of Scott for being gay.

  5. “Okay.” J.J. finished his beer, depositing the bottle on the coffee table and looked at Ilya. “Do you wanna play a game?”

    Another eyebrow raise from Ilya.

“I call it Jackie or Shane, a game where I tell you an actual real quote that I heard Hayden say and you have to guess if he said it to his wife or his best friend.”

    Ilya blinked.

    J.J. held eye contact.

    “Let’s do this.”

  6. Shane thinks about Ilya; thinks about the glorious gasping surprise of Shane and considers that he has made an absolutely fucking massive mistake somewhere along his way here but he has no idea what it was. Behind his eyelids he thinks about his own name choked out like a confession and thinks about the Ilya that seemed to come so naturally, and wishes desperately that he'd done something differently. Something, almost anything, but he doesn't know what, can't pin the thought down. He has no idea what he's wishing for except for different.

As it turns out, once they're in motion there's nothing that can keep his eyes open, and he sleeps.

There's a dream that feels like turning inside out, like stretching and rebounding, like a path cleared and his is the first skate that touches the ice after the Zamboni leaves it, and he wakes —

    He wakes.

Head thick and foggy until he shakes it and it clears, but he wakes —

    — and they're back at the hotel.

  8. Shane goes down on the ice, hard. Ilya spirals in the locker room. Yuna makes a phone call. Somehow, it ends well. *** He hears a sharp breath being sucked in and a cold, decidedly female voice states “Ilya Rozanov.” It feels like a bucket of ice-water has been dropped on his head, chilled tendrils crawling down his back. "Who-who is this?” he manages to get out. “Yuna Hollander,“ the woman, Yuna fucking Hollander, hisses, like an angry cat. “Shane Hollander’s mother!”

  10. Irina was always a perceptive woman.

Maybe this perceptive, brilliant woman noticed how Ilya looked at boys.

Maybe that was the final straw, maybe she couldn’t handle the grief of having a son who loved boys. Maybe that’s why Ilya stumbled on his mother’s body a few days after realising he looked at boys like he could love them too.

  13. Invitation to team Canada's hockey camp before the winter Olympic games 2018 cannot come at a better time for Cliff Marleau. A break from the explosive atmosphere in Boston. From a captain with something to hide and even more to prove.
Playing with the stoic Montreal captain Hollander for a while sounds like a fucking holiday to Marleau. Except something must have shifted in Montreal too, because on second look, Hollander seems anything but stoic.

    OR

It's Ilya's last year in Boston. With Shane, they have a secret and a plan. The secret cannot handle Cliff Marleau getting to know Shane and recognising too much of Ilya in him.

  15. “You are okay with this, really?” Ilya asked, abruptly.

Yuna looked up from her plate, exchanging a glance with David, who also seemed unsure of what exactly Ilya was referring to.

“What do you mean, Ilya?” David asked.

“Me and Shane. Us being together.”

David set his utensils down. He looked genuinely concerned for the first time tonight, his brow furrowed. Yuna wasn’t quite sure that she understood, either.

“Well, I don’t think you’ve given us a good reason not to be okay with it,” David said.

“Maybe I had my doubts, but I think it’s obvious that you love him, you really do,” Yuna added.

“I love him, that is enough?” Ilya asked.

Is love enough? How was Yuna supposed to answer that?

    ===

Follow-up to "why do you hate him?". Yuna and David invite Ilya to dinner after finding out that he and Shane are in love. They need to know, is this real, and is Ilya as good for Shane as he says he is? Along the way, the find that there's much more hidden beneath his indifferent exterior. But in a world and hockey league that is unlikely to accept them, Ilya needs to know just as badly, is his love enough?

    Again, again, again, again.

    It is not helping.

Shane and Ilya end their relationship during the 2017 All-Star Game. Years pass with no contact off the ice.

  19. Shane wasn’t his boyfriend. But for a while it had felt like it. They’d been alone in his house. He’d made them tuna melts and watched TV. They’d cuddled like a real couple. And then he had to go and ruin it. Like he ruins everything. The press won't stop talking about Shane and Rose. He's turning into his mother and for some reason, Scott Hunter is the only one who sees him. And it scares him.
