  2. Ilya Rozanov always knew that Shane Hollander carried the Montreal Metros on his shoulders, but when the whole world gets to see the same thing, the game changes.
And having to watch his boyfriend exhaust himself playing practically alone while his teammates ignore him makes anger bubble in Ilya's chest.
But it's at his own press conference that things... heat up.

    OR,
Ilya's POV interview after the Centaurs' victory and Shane's stumble, in which the author continues to rant about the Montreal Metros/Voyageurs being assholes.

  3. Every feeling that Ilya remembered having about Shane from the moment they’d set eyes on each other that first time came rushing back with such force that it nearly knocked Ilya on his feet. Shane looked exactly as he had the last time Ilya had laid eyes on him. Shorter than him by a solid three inches. Deceptively lean. A splash of freckles across his nose. Jaw sharp and clearly tight with what was probably a mixture of nerves and determination. He was, by all means, a very attractive person, something that Ilya had tried very hard to forget. Ilya clenched his jaw against that heady desire to protect and stuck out his hand. “Welcome to Centaurs, Hollander.” _______ All Ilya Rozanov wants is to lead the Ottawa Centaurs to the coveted Stanley Cup and be the kind, respectful alpha he was never taught to be. Enter Shane Hollander. Ilya refuses to let his curiosity towards Shane get in the way, which is hard to do when he’s staying in Ilya’s house. There’s also that strangely enticing scent that starts to follow him everywhere.

  4. It happens against Montreal, because of course it does. Shane Hollander has accumulated hundreds of penalty minutes across his career, same as every other hockey player, but none have ever been from fighting. That is until a bad hit by his former teammates leaves his husband laid out on the ice and a comment that crosses the line has Shane dropping his gloves for the first (and hopefully last) time.

  6. When he played for Montreal, the other guys on the team would often give him weird looks. He knew he wasn't great at making friends but he also didn't think it was necessary to be friends with everyone on the team. Still, it hurt how hostile some of them got over Shane's strict routines. Some even commented about his "psycho behaviour" but usually Hayden would make them shut up. Only when Shane was having panic attacks, the others would be more aggressive about it. They weren't worried about Shane, all they seemed to care about was that he was different. ~ or: Shane's experience with being autistic through his life. And finding peace with it!
