Ilya was glowing, and wild, and so bright he was almost blinding. Beautiful, Shane had known, even back then, when he was still too young to know much of anything at all.
Ilya Rozanov belongs to the summer, and the summer belongs to them.

“I went to Catholic school, you know,” Scott says, nodding at a painting of the Archangel Gabriel.
“Oh.” Kip sounds surprised that he’s sharing anything about himself unprompted and stands next to him to look at the painting together. “So you know all the saints and everything?”
“Saint Christopher,” Scott says quietly and he feels so brave and reckless when he brushes the back of his knuckles against Kip’s. He’s rewarded with a little smile. “Patron saint of travelers. You’ve been watching over this traveler anyway.”

“Is my favourite thing.” Ilya murmurs.
The rain has started to slow down a little. Barely any lightning strikes anymore. Soon, the sky will clear.
“What is?” Shane asks.
Ilya brings their joined hands up to his face and presses a small, tired smile to the back of Shane’s hand. “You and me.”

Rozanov rolled his eyes. “Yes, because it is so silly to want to know where you are going. I know you looked up every last detail, you are not high and mighty.” Hayden found himself chuckling. “Yeah, Shane, you're not all high and mighty. I bet you managed to find the blueprints of the rental, just to make sure it was to your standards.” “What the fuck is this? You two are teaming up on me now?” Shane tried to sound offended, but his delight pushed right through. “Ah, is only because we know you are full of shit.” Rozanov nodded, very sure of himself as per usual. --- the pikes join ilya and shane on vacation to the bahamas, and everything that happens is actually way easier than any of them expected. hayden gets hit on, jackie appreciates some quality relaxation, and hollanov go on like they always do.
