Cliff snorted under his breath and turned away, suddenly very interested in the supply bag.
Sylvia leaned toward Shane. “Ask for his number,” she whispered loudly enough that it wasn’t a whisper at all. “They’ll be taking me away in T-minus five minutes. You don’t wanna miss your shot kiddo!”
Or Shane is a Librarian and Ilya is a Paramedic. They meet , fall in love, have a baby together . Oh and Shane is Autistic and worries a lot.

Liliya squirms slightly as he slides her tiny arms into the sleeves, her face scrunching in mild protest. "I know, I know," Shane murmurs, smiling faintly. "Not your favourite thing." He glances briefly at the phone, then back to her. "Maybe one day," he says quietly, "we can show this to your papa." There's a subtle shift in the room. Yuna's smile falters just slightly. David, standing nearby, looks down for a moment before composing himself. Shane doesn't stop. "This is the day you came home," he tells her. "The first day of the rest of our lives kiddo." His fingers are careful as he buttons the cardigan, adjusting it so it sits just right. "I think he'd like to see this,” he adds softly. Or, Shane and Ilya sleep together the day they meet in December 2008. Shane ends up pregnant. Ilya has no idea, it’s only when their daughter is diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder that Shane realises he has no choice but the break the silence between them.

Yuna’s entire body aches, and it would appear that her instincts were right— Rozanov is small, and he’s vulnerable, and he’s tired, and he needed somewhere safe to rest.
And Yuna can’t help the weird sense that she’s honoured— her home was somewhere for Rozanov to go, even if she and David knew nothing about any of it, even if they still don’t, Shane knew it would be safe for Rozanov here. Shane told him to come home.

“You are okay with this, really?” Ilya asked, abruptly.
Yuna looked up from her plate, exchanging a glance with David, who also seemed unsure of what exactly Ilya was referring to.
“What do you mean, Ilya?” David asked.
“Me and Shane. Us being together.”
David set his utensils down. He looked genuinely concerned for the first time tonight, his brow furrowed. Yuna wasn’t quite sure that she understood, either.
“Well, I don’t think you’ve given us a good reason not to be okay with it,” David said.
“Maybe I had my doubts, but I think it’s obvious that you love him, you really do,” Yuna added.
“I love him, that is enough?” Ilya asked.
Is love enough? How was Yuna supposed to answer that?

Follow-up to "why do you hate him?". Yuna and David invite Ilya to dinner after finding out that he and Shane are in love. They need to know, is this real, and is Ilya as good for Shane as he says he is? Along the way, the find that there's much more hidden beneath his indifferent exterior. But in a world and hockey league that is unlikely to accept them, Ilya needs to know just as badly, is his love enough?

"I think she can tell there's a baby." Or Anya is Shane’s Rock throughout his pregnancy and absolutely adores their baby once she arrives.

“We knew when his words came in that he’d–” Yuna’s voice cracked around the idea, that specific word escaping her. “That he won’t have to know what it feels like to lose his soulmate.”
Because Shane was always going to go first. How must it have felt, to look upon her son and see those words, and know with complete certainty he would go first? Maybe it was better, having as vague of a word as Ilya did on his chest. At least he couldn’t think about it, couldn’t imagine scenarios in which it could be said.
“I assume,” Yuna said, pausing to take a deep breath as though to steel herself, “he said yours last night.”
Ilya nodded, admitting what he didn’t dare say out loud.
