Ilya had dismissed the feeling out of hand, except he has now just spent half an hour in the bicycle shop considering the difference between 190 gsm and 250 gsm merino wool and which would best keep Shane warm while wicking sweat during his morning commutes.
This is yet another thing Ilya has never done before. The only person whose sweat he has ever contemplated the wicking of has been himself.

Of course Yuna has a burner account, not just one, many in fact. She uses them for her job as Shane’s manager, to keep tabs on hockey news, the league, rumor mills, and on occasion, Rozanov.
———
How Yuna comes to care for Ilya through twitter before ever meeting him. AKA Ilya clinches the title ‘favourite son’ arguably before Shane’s parents find out about their relationship.

“Well, I guess you got what you wanted from me already,” Hollander continued. “Whatever. Fuck you.”
“Wait, no, Hollander.” Ilya turned, throwing an arm into Hollander’s path. “That’s not—”
“No, it’s fine. Stupid of me to expect anything else.” Hollander shook his head, gaze downcast, the barest hint of angry pink tinging his freckled cheeks. “Thanks for making it good, at least.”
It. His first time.
Ilya was the worst sort of asshole.

It’s strictly a business trip. Ilya’s her client, not her friend, and they have meetings with Porsche. She’ll probably see him for a few hours here and there, and she’s content to amuse herself for the rest of the time.
Ilya seems to regard her trip differently.
Ilya Rozanov: Have you heard of Berghain?
Yuna: No, what’s that?
Ilya Rozanov: Berlin cultural institution
Ilya Rozanov: Bar and art and music
Ilya Rozanov: Very iconic
Ilya Rozanov: I think you will like it

It’s a good thing our mother is dead. If she were alive, she’d be so ashamed of what her son has become. Of course Alexei had to open his big mouth and give a statement to some shitty gossip site, and of course the entirety of the internet is posting it now, because Shane and Ilya took the internet and pop culture by storm a few Marches ago, and keeping them in headline stories keeps people engaged. If it were a random comment, Ilya knew it wouldn’t sting as much as it does, and he would just let it go, but it’s Alexei, and it’s Alexei talking about their mom. Their mom, who Ilya puts on such a pedestal, a woman Ilya and Shane dedicated their charity to, a woman that Ilya strives to do the best for every day. It doesn’t just sting, it’s a shot that’s blasted through his heart. AKA: Alexei opens his big mouth, and the Hollanov Defense Squad responds.

It was like watching ants in those transparent tunneled habitats: the intricate, horny communication rituals of the modern queer hockey player.
Or, five or so times Mikhail Popov (award-winning goaltender and gay fairy godmother) nudged Shane Hollander (his best goalie friend) and Ilya Rozanov (annoying hot guy he tolerates) toward their happily ever after, and the one time they finally chose it for themselves.

An already ominous prospect, before he even realises how hard it will be to survive the night and help Shane keep his secrets intact. Which, as the alcohol flows, is getting harder and harder.

Metros and Raiders celebrate their Olympic medals. Hayden keeps learning new secrets about Shane. He does not learn by what fucking miracle they still remain secret.

When Shane reluctantly agreed to kick off his MLH career with a photoshoot, he imagined, somewhat vaguely, a hockey uniform and some dramatic lighting on the rink. Shoot a few pucks. Pose intensely. That kind of thing.
The marketing agency, apparently, had other ideas.
A plane flight gone wrong, a desperate crash landing, and suddenly hockey’s two brightest young stars find themselves stranded in the heart of the Canadian wilderness. With no way home and no rescue coming, they only have one hope for survival -- each other.

Before Felix could remove his headphones, he heard it. Heavy, borderline panicked breaths. Felix realized that it must be Hollander. His mic was not turned off when he left the interview. Footsteps. And then a door opening and closing. They had filmed the interview that morning at the offices of the Irina Foundation. It sounded like maybe he had gone into his office.
“Hey, what is it? What is wrong?” Another voice. Unmistakable anywhere. Even if Felix hadn’t spent weeks now listening to it, he would still have recognized Ilya Rozanov’s voice.
–
What if the filmmaker making the documentary about Hollander and Rozanov discovered the truth about their relationship. So he approaches Shane and Ilya about filming them over the course of the 2020/2021 season to create an honest documentary that tells the true story of their lives.
