Shane is a reporter for The New Yorker. Ilya works as a political consultant at the Russian Consulate. They’ve known each other since being rivals on the hockey team in college. It took a while for them to become friends, but since they have, the pair have gotten close. Very close. As their bachelor years dwindle, they decide to try to set one another up with their best girlfriends. It doesn’t go as they’d hoped. Or, Hudson inspired me to write a When Harry Met Sally AU. Happy New Year.

After the “square peg, round hole” convo, Shane takes Rose up on her offer to set him up with Miles, her (gay) co-star. When Shane brings him to All-Star Weekend in Tampa, Ilya has a LOT of gripes about the new actor douchebag boyfriend and the way he treats Shane. OR 5 times Ilya noticed Shane’s new boyfriend sucks and he could do better, and 1 time he got to prove it.
