  1. "Mm, I mean I haven't really ever thought of a ladybug. Isn't that a little cheesy?" Shane turned to Ilya raising a brow as if to say 'Eh?' it was a cute idea. Actually it would be precious on Sofia — it sounded oddly familiar though. "Oh come on Sofi would be the cutest little bug. Besides you were one for your fist Halloween," Yuna already had Shane's baby album opened to the page labeled 'Baby's 1st Halloween with cartoon bats decorating the page. Or the one where Sofia trick or treats for the first time.

  2. Shane Hollander has spent his whole career being told he and Ilya Rozanov hate each other. He's inclined to agree, right up until a hit in his rookie season puts him in a hospital bed and eleven years of a life he never had unspool behind his eyes: secret hotel rooms, a wedding, kids, a fight that nearly ended them, a crash that brought them back. He wakes up to a body that aches for a husband who was never real, and a rival standing at the end of his bed who has no idea what he means to him.
Or: Shane wakes up from a coma grieving a marriage that never happened, and decides the only way through it is to go build the real thing from scratch.

  3. Shane and Ilya have done everything right, with years of waiting, planning, and hoping. After too many almosts and not-quites, they go to one more adoption event with no expectations. But one quiet conversation—and one perfect baby—turn “maybe” into something a lot more dangerous: hope. And hope, it turns out, has a way of asking for more than they expected. (AKA: hurt/comfort, so much yearning, accidental family, angst with a payoff, and yes—a hard-won happy ending)

  5. There’s still a big part of him that wants all the same things he used to. The hockey, those other interests, the simplicity of the smaller circle. But there’s a twinge of something else now beside it when he considers it for too long, a bruise he can’t place the origins of. He’d been able to put somewhat of a name to it, after Rose.

He only wishes he hadn’t filled in the rest of the blanks staring down at a grainy photograph of Svetlana Vetrova in a convenience store parking lot in Boston, a bag hanging off of her manicured finger just transparent enough to make out the logo of a First Response as she’d ducked into a sleek, black sports car, driving away with Shane's best worst would-have-been and, presumably, Ilya Rozanov's baby.

Shane feels no particular way about this turn of events. He really, honestly, mostly is somewhat close to believing that, too. It's progress.

  6. Every year Shane always drove past their local pumpkin patch wondering if they were worth the hassle of going out into the patch to pick your own pumpkin. Pumpkin carving alone sounded like an entire sensory nightmare and going out into a patch full of plants sounded just as bad. He really didn't have a want to do it growing up, too busy with hockey but now he had a pup of his own and she needed to have a variety of experiences in her little life — according to his mom that was one of the things she wanted to do very badly with him but the first time they carved a pumpkin as a family, baby Shane (around a year old) cried, screamed and wanted absolutely nothing to do with it. Shane didn't want Sofia to be afraid and Ilya had been begging to go to one ever since Harris mentioned them at practice earlier that week. Or the one where they take Sofia to a pumpkin patch.

  7. Shane realized they were going to have to bring Sofia to practice when his mom had called them earlier that morning to say she was sick that she couldn't keep Sofia for the day which meant they had to bring her with them. Naturally everyone agreed that they could help watch her for the day, pitching in to keep her entertained. Or the one where Sofia comes to practice and runs a tight ship.

  8. “Lyubimiy, do you want me to push the seat ba—?” “JUST FUCKING DRIVE, ILYA!” Shane shouted, effectively cutting him off with a roar as he fumbled for the handle along the Cherokees’ ceiling. OR: Babies are unpredictable. Especially those whose other father happens to be one, Ilya Hollander-Rozanov, the king of all wild cards. (And apparently the jack of all trades, midwifery now included.) Thank god Jeeps are made to Do Anything ®. +Now with art! (and an announcement)

  9. "What is it like in Hell?" There are things you prepare yourself for your child to someday ask but there are infinitely more things that you can never prepare yourself for. This is the latter. or Sofiya Rozanova-Hollander is the best thing that has ever happened to her parents, Cup wins included. This is how they manage when an incident at school brings up thoughts and feelings they might not be prepared for.

  10. “Ilya?”

Ilya is splayed out on the floor, legs turned one way, and his body turned in the complete opposite direction. Zara’s body is perched over the edge of the bed, hands clutching the mattress as her tear-filled eyes stare down at her Papa,

Ilya’s right hand massages the side of his head as he slowly turns and blinks at Shane standing in the doorway.

    “‘ello moya lyubov.”

    “What happened?”

“Is it not obvious? I fell off the bed.”

    OR:

Shane is woken up by a loud thud and fears their daughter has fallen off her new toddler bed. It turns out it was actually Ilya.

  11. For the first time in nineteen years, a sudden, blinding flash of color flooded Ilya’s world.

It was as if a dormant switch inside him had been violently flipped on. His Alpha instincts, usually as dormant and indifferent as the rest of him, surged forward with a fierce, possessive roar that made his blood run hot. The dull gray reality he had inhabited his entire life vanished, replaced by a single, absolute, unyielding mandate:

    That Omega is mine.

Ilya didn’t know his name. He didn’t know his story, or his background. But as his blue eyes locked onto the stunning stranger, watching the way his warm brown eyes crinkled with a soft, gentle laugh, Ilya knew with absolute certainty that he would stop at nothing until that Omega belonged to him.

  12. The right of passage of being a 'big girl' to Sofia was getting her first bicycle — with training wheels of course. It was for her third birthday, Ilya insisted after winning the cup that she deserved something very special so of course he got her what she had been begging for because Jade, Amber, and Serenity had a princess bike she wanted one too naturally. Or the one where Sofia gets a helmet for her bike.

  13. “Is this a good thing? You’re acting crazy.” Ilya starts slowly, his hand resting on Shane’s hip. “I think it is. I think it’s a really good thing.” Shane turns to wrap himself around Ilya, holding him close and pressing his nose into his husband’s scent gland. This would be a good thing.

  14. After spending an embarrassing amount of time researching baseball, I came to a realization: if Shane isn't playing hockey, then baseball is absolutely his next great love. It's a sport with one of the largest percentages of Asian players among the major North American leagues, and one that lets him push himself to the absolute limit as a rare two-way player. Honestly, what more could Shane ask for?

Yuri, from Tadaima, Okaeri, is back! This time, she's the daughter of Alpha!Ilya and Omega!Shane, who are now captains of the Boston Bears and the Boston Red Sox, respectively.

I really hope you'll enjoy Out of Left Field. ❤️

  15. “I want to meet her.” he managed to say through the wave of emotion coursing through him. “No.” Shane said, as if there was no possibility Ilya would ever get to meet his daughter. “You don’t get to decide when I see my child.” Ilya said, trying desperately to keep his voice calm, not wanting to give Shane more reason to believe he was still the violent person he left seven years ago “Yes I do. I am not going to let my child be collateral in the war you’re in with your brother like I was.” “I am legit now. I promise. After you left I have spent the last seven years cleaning us up. We do nothing criminal. I have no connections to Alexei and Russia anymore. Just let me meet her.” “No. Not until you prove it to me. I will not let any part of that life affect her.” “Can you at least tell me her name” “Her name is Masha. Well it’s Mariya, but we all call her Masha.” Or Shane Hollander found out he was pregnant with Russian Mafia member Ilya Rozanov's child and ran away. Seven years later Ilya has broken off ties to his brother and found Shane and his daughter. He wants to meet her.

  16. When the police interrogated him the first time, Shane had told them that it had taken a only a few frantic moments to plan out the daring escape which had eventually earned him his freedom after six long years.

  17. The saying 'this hurts me a lot more than it hurts you' was a saying Shane heard growing up when his mom would have to take him to the doctor for his yearly checkup and he would have a 'surprise' vaccination to get or when he would need stitches for a hockey related injury. His mom would always hold his hand and say, 'Shane this hurts me more than it hurts you,' and truthfully he never understood why she would say that with an actual pained look on her face as she watched the doctor give him a shot or when she would sit by his side holding his hand as the medical trainer stitched him up her eyes never leaving the needle that threaded in and out of his wound. It never made sense as to why it would hurt her more than it hurt him because it hurt a lot. Not that he ever said so. But when it came to his own pup getting hurt, Shane understood quickly what his mother meant. Or the one where Shane doesn't forgive himself until Sofia does.

  19. The weight of Shane's belly was beginning to put strain on his lower back. It felt like with every step his back might split in two. His chest could also be to blame for all the strain as it had taken on some new developments as of late. Now, Shane had never been exactly flat chested for an omega especially during his heats his tits would turn into swollen mounds hot to the touch but now? They were not only swollen but they ached like hell when anything would brush up against them. Or the one where Ilya holds Shane's belly for him.

  20. There was probably something wrong with him, that being spanked until he cried by his husband made him pliable and horny, but he didn’t care. He didn’t have to worry about anything anymore, except pleasing Ilya. Shane doesn't make decisions anymore. That's Ilya's job - all Shane has to do is obey.
