It started out as something small, just an idea after reading a bedtime story about some bears making a lemonade stand. Sofia was absolutely enthralled with the idea. It was all their four year old could talk about. She probably yapped about it in her sleep to be honest it was just something she wanted to do and the idea to make a stand and put it at the rink during the week long camp to raise money for the foundation was too cute to say no to. Once they were finally settled in again, Ilya was able to coax Shane back into the nest so that he could rest some more and actually begin the healing process. The nurses told him that it was best to keep him close to his nest, that it would be the most beneficial place for him to be. "I can't believe we actually made her, like that she's actually real and here with us," Shane whispered softly, not even daring to breathe too loudly afraid to wake their sleeping bundle of joy with the chubbiest cheeks known to mankind — the soft curls on her little head moving slightly whenever she shifted. Shane liked to think he wasn't difficult. He was actually rather agreeable given his circumstances — those circumstances being that he was as round as a beach ball and that he couldn't exactly help that his shoes wouldn't fit so that he couldn't go with his alpha to pick up their to-go order at their favorite pizzeria down the street. That was okay…yeah, he didn't really need to get out of the house anyways. He had gotten enough fresh air and sunshine earlier when he was walking Anya down the street. That was when his feet weren't made of literal rising dough. There were no shoes that fit— he had tried. And if he didn't have a fried stick of cheese in his hand in about five more seconds he was going to either cry or possibly shove his swollen feet in his bright yellow crocs and trudge down the street to retrieve them himself. The bad part is, it was such a niche craving that they could have really ordered anywhere but the thing was he wanted it now. Or the one where Shane really craves one thing.

Harris put the finishing touches on Ilya's new 'pregnancy bod' tugging at the clear wrap to ensure that it was snug enough and that it wouldn't budge whenever Ilya moved. Shane wasn't actually one to cry easily…or as easy as others. At least that was until the hormones kicked in and one day he cried at the drop of a hat just like someone had flipped a light switch on. Tears came so easily to his eyes, it was like at the drop of a hat and he would just burst into tears. Ilya had some pretty wild dreams. Especially when his husband was laying right there next to him. Speaking of Shane, he was the main player in his sexually explicit dreams — ones where the alpha would wake up incredibly hard the next morning. It was getting to the point that his scent was turning mouth watering and affecting his omega within such a close proximity. Or Ilya dreams about Shane being wet and wakes up to a surprise.

Shane had already mentally accepted the fact that Ilya was Sofia's favorite parent. This was something that he knew, loved, and overall respected. Being pregnant in any type of hot weather was not for the faint of heart. Shane was used to being hot, as an athlete doing strenuous exercise got him pretty fired up and other activities included would have him dripping sweat. He was even used to working out in hot weather but this— this was something else. This was a heatwave from hell cooked up in Satan's kitchen specially to torment his pregnant ass. Or the one where Ilya needs a tall glass of Shane.

Later that night, Shane rolled over in bed awoken by his growling stomach. It figured as much that he would be hungry at the worst time of the night when everyone was asleep. The cottage was a little creaky here and there and it had seen its fair share of traffic from Shane and Ilya holding small parties for the team and for themselves. There were doors that creaked, floors that squeaked when stepping on them too quickly, the overall wear and tear settling into the well loved home. The creaks in the floorboards would most likely give him away but Shane had to eat. He was wasting away in bed being eaten alive by their pup currently kicking up a storm. It was almost like she demanded to be fed. "Okay, okay I'll go get us something." Shane whispered to his swell, poking the side of it where he could have sworn his pup was pushing out with her foot. "You just aren't letting this go, huh?" Or the one where Shane and Sofia snack together

The weight of Shane's belly was beginning to put strain on his lower back. It felt like with every step his back might split in two. His chest could also be to blame for all the strain as it had taken on some new developments as of late. Now, Shane had never been exactly flat chested for an omega especially during his heats his tits would turn into swollen mounds hot to the touch but now? They were not only swollen but they ached like hell when anything would brush up against them. Or the one where Ilya holds Shane's belly for him.

The saying 'this hurts me a lot more than it hurts you' was a saying Shane heard growing up when his mom would have to take him to the doctor for his yearly checkup and he would have a 'surprise' vaccination to get or when he would need stitches for a hockey related injury. His mom would always hold his hand and say, 'Shane this hurts me more than it hurts you,' and truthfully he never understood why she would say that with an actual pained look on her face as she watched the doctor give him a shot or when she would sit by his side holding his hand as the medical trainer stitched him up her eyes never leaving the needle that threaded in and out of his wound. It never made sense as to why it would hurt her more than it hurt him because it hurt a lot. Not that he ever said so. But when it came to his own pup getting hurt, Shane understood quickly what his mother meant. Or the one where Shane doesn't forgive himself until Sofia does.

The right of passage of being a 'big girl' to Sofia was getting her first bicycle — with training wheels of course. Shane realized they were going to have to bring Sofia to practice when his mom had called them earlier that morning to say she was sick that she couldn't keep Sofia for the day which meant they had to bring her with them. Every year Shane always drove past their local pumpkin patch wondering if they were worth the hassle of going out into the patch to pick your own pumpkin. Pumpkin carving alone sounded like an entire sensory nightmare and going out into a patch full of plants sounded just as bad. He really didn't have a want to do it growing up, too busy with hockey but now he had a pup of his own and she needed to have a variety of experiences in her little life — according to his mom that was one of the things she wanted to do very badly with him but the first time they carved a pumpkin as a family, baby Shane (around a year old) cried, screamed and wanted absolutely nothing to do with it. Shane didn't want Sofia to be afraid and Ilya had been begging to go to one ever since Harris mentioned them at practice earlier that week. Or the one where they take Sofia to a pumpkin patch.

"Mm, I mean I haven't really ever thought of a ladybug. Isn't that a little cheesy?" Shane turned to Ilya raising a brow as if to say 'Eh?' it was a cute idea. Actually it would be precious on Sofia — it sounded oddly familiar though. "Oh come on Sofi would be the cutest little bug. Besides you were one for your fist Halloween," Yuna already had Shane's baby album opened to the page labeled 'Baby's 1st Halloween with cartoon bats decorating the page. Or the one where Sofia trick or treats for the first time.
