It's 2023. Ottawa has a real chance at the cup again this year. First win could've been luck but a second one in a row would cement their reputation. And if these few remaining games go right, they will be looking at back-to-back wins. Shane might be the first player in MHL history who has consecutive wins in two different teams. He will never do anything to jeopardize that opportunity. But his body. Something's happening... Not to mention his temper. It can probably wait until after they get the cup though. Probably. Or, it’s Shane’s second season with the Centaurs and he’s getting that cup, no matter what his body’s screaming at him. Ilya’s more stressed about it than he is. They get the cup and a pretty amazing souvenir out of it by the end of the season though. Set in a universe where everyone can get pregnant. Men just have a harder time being carriers. It usually takes a while for them and is normally done on purpose. Hollanov is really just that “casually beats the odds” couple.

The director called him again, and he shook his head, the photos blurring. Whatever. It would have to do.
He clicked "select all," then the messages icon, then Rozanov's name. Hit send.

You know, I’ve never met a single other person who’s ever done that.” Ilya gave an exaggerated pout, “You are being mean to me on our roommate anniversary.” “Are you going to do this every fucking year?” • • • • • • Ilya buys Shane flowers to celebrate the anniversary of them living together in their university apartment. Shane finds this a particularly asshole move from Ilya, considering they started living together in September and it's currently January. They spend most of the day arguing about it, until Shane finally comes clean about the deeper reason his roommate's "gift" has left him so off-kilter all day.

This was quiet ease and small moments of comfort and a look that makes the rest of the world fade away. This was how he felt with Kip.
Scott stilled.
It was as if someone had whispered it in his ear. It was as if the final piece of this insane, deranged puzzle finally clicked into place. His heart was pounding in his ears. He was probably wrong. In fact he was entirely wrong. This wasn’t like him and Kip. It couldn’t be Kip. Scott had been watching too many romantic comedies. His head was in the clouds.
But they weren’t touching.
Hollander and Rozanov were as close as they could be, without laying a single finger on one another. They were specifically, rigidly, separate. The warmth between them was bridled. Entirely. And this, Scott realized, his heart sinking into the floor, was also how he had felt with Kip.

And yet, in the end, despite the demands for more from his orphic voyages from management, nothing ever gets done with the information. More often than not, now that he’s captain, it's Hayden and JJ just idly texting all of their visions—none of which are exceptionally helpful, although the drama of hearing bits of gossip is just more exciting than anything else.
Shane's just—it's so fucking stupid. Why keep the useless magic laced through Montreal if all it does is splinter under the weight? Why endanger the team with malicious prophecies if only one person seems to bear the brunt? Why force anyone to see the slices of deeply personal life Shane's glimpsing?
