1 – 3 of 3 Works in Shane Hollander & Scott Hunter & Ilya Rozanov

  • Shane Hollander & Scott Hunter & Ilya Rozanov ×
  1. Scott watched as Hollander leaned in, further, to hear Rozanov. This was the part that didn’t entirely make sense to him. The missing piece of something that felt like it was just beyond his reach. This was quiet ease and small moments of comfort and a look that makes the rest of the world fade away. This was how he felt with Kip.

    Scott stilled.

It was as if someone had whispered it in his ear. It was as if the final piece of this insane, deranged puzzle finally clicked into place. His heart was pounding in his ears. He was probably wrong. In fact he was entirely wrong. This wasn’t like him and Kip. It couldn’t be Kip. Scott had been watching too many romantic comedies. His head was in the clouds.

    But they weren’t touching.

Hollander and Rozanov were as close as they could be, without laying a single finger on one another. They were specifically, rigidly, separate. The warmth between them was bridled. Entirely. And this, Scott realized, his heart sinking into the floor, was also how he had felt with Kip.

    Oh. Oh fuck.

  2. It's 2016. Scott Hunter is in his rookie year with the New York Admirals and at first glance his life is going great. He’s a generational talent slated to be Captain, a cinch for Rookie of the Year, and has just been named an MLH All-Star. Unfortunately, he’s also a closeted gay orphan with no swag, no bitches, and no friends.

But it’s fine. Scott just has to keep this one measly secret for another twenty or so years, and then he can retire and get a hot boyfriend and finally live his life as his true authentic self — whatever that means. Everything is going to be just fine.

Or: in which we are forced to contend with the hard hitting question of "what if Scott Hunter wasn’t old but Ilya Rozanov and Shane Hollander were?" and also "haha wouldn’t it be great if everybody was about 50% more Canadian?"

  3. “So… you and Rozanov, huh? That's a thing now?” Shane freezes, “What?” You're starting to sound like him. They never really talked about that, just moved on like nothing happened. After Scott kissed his boyfriend on the ice, Shane knew it wasn't meant to be anything homophobic, but he'd always still felt hesitant about it. While Scott might know about being a gay NHL player, even he wouldn't understand this. Besides, the media might have focused on Shane and Ilya being rivals, but there had always been much more hostility between Ilya and Scott. Scott gives him a strange look, “You're friends now, right? Or is that all PR?” “Oh.” He tries his best to remain calm and relaxed, even if his heart is beating loudly in his chest, “Yes. I mean, we've been friends for… a long time. Just… the media blew the whole rivalry out of proportion and it was… easier.” Scott nods slowly, sipping his drink, “How, though? I mean, no offense, but he's… well, an asshole.” (Or, Shane runs into Scott, who finds out their secret)
