So what is the plan now, Mr. Spreadsheet?
“Honestly I was kind of hoping your consciousness would just click back into your body once I touched you.” Shane scratches the back of his head.
You treat me like slap bracelet, Ilya complains.
After a bad hit knocks Ilya’s consciousness out of his body — literally — Shane finds himself sheltering the soul of his decade-long situationship in the back of his head. Turns out it’s a lot harder to keep secrets when you share a body.
(They definitely still try, though.)

It’s the alcohol, Shane thinks, and all this talk of marrying someone for citizenship, that somehow lands him in Ilya’s bed, role-playing as his newly wedded wife.
It’s all just pretend, of course.
Even if Shane and Ilya both enjoy playing their roles a little too well.

So Much Of You Is Left Behind by Anonymous
Heated Rivalry (TV), Game Changers Series - Rachel Reid
2026-02-21
Loud beeps from his phone startled Ilya, and he slowed down, reaching for the device he’d put on the bar between his legs. Jane. He smiled to himself when he saw the notifications, and, checking Marlowe was absorbed in his own fitness, opened it quickly, smiling in anticipation of Shane's words.
The smile was wiped off his face almost instantly.
The blood drained from his face, and Ilya felt like the bottom had just fallen out of his world.
*****
Maybe he was naive, but Ilya always thought he had time. Time with Shane. Time to tell him what he truly meant to him.
That, somehow, one way or another, Shane would always be there.
But a text message late one night threatens to destroy the future that Ilya has spent the time carefully constructing in his mind.
Maybe Shane wasn't always going to be there. That Shane would be cruelly snatched away from him before he had a chance to be honest.
That he would be left behind. Alone.

Not like the real thing by galaxo
Game Changers Series - Rachel Reid, Heated Rivalry (TV)

“Boring?” Shane asked, heart in his throat. The wet thumb on his chin stroked his bottom lip lightly, almost reverently, and Shane tried not to feel too light-headed from that simple touch. “No,” Ilya finally replied quietly, his gaze melting into something unbearably warm as it took Shane apart. “Boring is better.” Fuck, who let him say things like this? “I’ll find you one. A good replacement. No more smoking.” “Hollander,” Ilya deadpanned. “I will not suck your dick every time I want cigarette.” Shane made a show of rolling his eyes, trying—and failing—not to blush at Ilya’s crude language. “Fuck you. I wasn’t saying that." Or, Ilya starts smoking again, and Shane suggests lollipops to help him quit. It might be the best and worst idea he's ever had.

When Roz starts speaking, frantically letting out Russian words from his hospital bed, Troy jumps in fear. “Ty emu uzhe pozvonila? Gde mama?” While Troy might not know Russian, or any other Slavic language that might have offered him some sort of context, he understands the word for mother. His heart clenches in his chest. Calling for your mom, especially when you’re hurt and confused feels instinctive. Troy is pretty sure he’d do the same thing. But the thought of coming out of your dazed state while desperately wanting your mom, and the loss of your mom coming crashing down on you must be a different type of agony. Roz starts speaking again, Russian coming to him easier than English must. “Mama? Gde moya mama?”

The Things We Can't Say by ConquerSpaceAndTime
Heated Rivalry (TV), Game Changers Series - Rachel Reid
2026-01-08
Six months after the Olympic Games, Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov haven’t spoken a word to each other...and Shane Hollander is doing a terrible job of pretending he’s fine. With the NHL Awards looming and everything left unsaid hanging between them, one drunken night in Montreal spirals into an unexpected karaoke performance, and everything he’s buried comes spilling out in front of the one person he never stopped thinking about. For Ilya Rozanov, hearing Shane sing might be the moment that finally breaks the stalemate before the NHL Awards bring them back into each other’s orbit. Sometimes it only takes a song, a crowd, and one look across a room to realize that silence was never the same thing as moving on. OR: Between the Olympics and the NHL awards, Shane does drunk karaoke and pours his heart out, and Ilya sees the whole damn thing.

“What the fuck is this?” Ilya turns from where he’s scrolling on the couch to see Shane holding up his laptop. On the laptop screen is a familiar webpage. ‘Vodka & Ginger Ale, Ilya Rozanov X Shane Hollander’ “I believe is called fanfiction Hollander, is very popular with young people,” Ilya replies casually. “And would you care to explain why, when I opened my laptop, it asked me if I wanted to publish another chapter?” -------------- I.e. “C’mon, it’s Christmas.” “I did not know Christmas was for doing stupid things.” “Christmas,” Shane starts, crawling on all fours to get up and tower over Ilya, a new set of determination over his sleepy eyes, “is about being more indulgent.” His face dips down until their noses greet one another as softly as butterfly wings, breaths in sync, and chests brushing. The urge to kiss him is stronger than last night’s storm. Or, Ilya and Shane spend Christmas together.

“We had a visitor waiting when we got back to the house tonight.” Yuna finally spoke. “It was, of course, alarming to find a stranger in our driveway, a car we didn’t recognize, a person we didn’t recognize.” “Okay.” Ilya intently listened, nodding at everything. “She explained that she had found me through the foundation, and wanted to reach out to me before she did anything else.” Her hands reassuringly squeezed around Ilya’s ones, eyes never leaving his even for a second. With a deep breath in, she closed her eyes. “She told us her name is Irina. Irina Sergeevna Rozanova.” OR Irina Rozanova survives her suicide attempt but goes into hiding. Only after Grigori dies, she feels safe enough to find her son. OR Irina lives
