  1. “Shane didn’t know I was flirting with him until I pointed my dick at him in the showers!” “Ilya!” he hissed. “What? Is true. I was flirting with you all day at that photoshoot, and you didn’t notice.” Shane rolls his eyes. “No, you weren’t, you were just being an asshole.” “I told you you looked pretty!”

  4. God, he was having a freak out and it was gonna be a bad one. “I can’t do this I can’t do this. I can’t I can’t. why?! I can’t! I can’t.” Shane was sobbing. He could breathe he couldn’t hear. His whole body was burning. Not like on fire, but it was tingling. Like an energy was trying to escape him from all directions. Like anxiety was trying to seep out of every pore in his skin. Or Shane has a really bad meltdown during a game.

  5. Twelve years after filming their first CCM ad together, Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov are asked to return for a follow-up campaign. The offer sparks reflection and conversation about privacy, visibility, and what it means to exist openly as a married couple in the NHL. --- “Okay,” Farah said, brightly. “So. CCM reached out.” Shane straightened instinctively. He and Ilya were both sponsored by CCM, they had been for years. Would CCM pull their sponsorships now that they were publicly out? Would they only want to keep working with one of them now that they were married and would be playing on the Centaurs together this season? “They want you two for a new ad campaign,” she continued, eyes sparkling. “A twelve-year retrospective referencing the one you shot together the summer before your rookie year.”

  6. Four times the Ottawa players noticed Shane stepping up to protect the rookies plus the third time Shane ignored his own fighting rules and punched the shit out of someone on the ice. OR the little moments of realization as Ottawa learns that Shane won’t let anyone fuck with the team (especially their rookies) and the big moment of confirmation as Shane starts an on- ice fight for them. Featuring the rookies as Shane's ducklings.

  7. The idea was simple: make Ilya wear a mic during practice, film it, let him be his entertaining self and get a viral post out of it. Harris should have gotten an easy win there. Instead he gets invested in his captain's latest lovers' quarrel and learns that athletes can be emotionally mature... kind of.

  8. Ilya knows that, between him and Shane, he's the more affectionate of the two. He's not sure if it's because he's from Europe, where everyone greets each other with a hug and a kiss on the cheek, or if it's because he grew up so starved for love and affection that he can't do anything except show Shane how much he loves him at any chance that he has. So, yes, he knows that he's the one most likely to kiss Shane on the cheek when he skates by him at practice or come up behind Shane when he's cooking dinner just to wrap his arms around him or fall on top of Shane while he's reading on the couch, desperate to have his skin touching Shane's. But, Shane… Shane loves Ilya differently. It's quieter. More intentional. — Or, five times that Shane loved Ilya in his quiet way, and one time that he loved Ilya loudly.

  9. This has to be a nightmare. Ilya is convinced it must be. Because there is no way that what he’s watching happen is real life. The SUV ahead of him, the one that is carrying Shane, is swerving out of control, having hit a patch of black ice. The driver in Ilya’s vehicle has already hit the brakes, their SUV skidding to a stop. But the one in front of them is still going. And then Ilya can’t do anything but watch as it suddenly flips. Once, twice, a third time before it drags across the road, still upside down. Finally, it comes to a stop. The Centaurs end up in a car accident on a snowy drive.

  10. Ilya Rozanov is getting married! But it's to be able to stay in the country if something happens (or so he says). He invited his teammates on the Centaurs to the wedding. “So, I am getting… how you say? Marriage of convenience,” “Alright… so who’s the poor lady stuck with you then?” “Shane Hollander.” Evan Dykstra's POV (yes I chose a random teammate)

  11. Shane Hollander's experiences with racism, fighting, and hockey prior to his rookie season. And the conversation he has with the Centaurs after they find out. A prequel/sequel work to "Blood Upon The Snow", but you don't need to have read that for this to make sense, though it might help.

  12. Shane sighed. “I usually don’t do that type of thing. I was just listening to music and, I don’t know, felt like it.” “I’m glad you did,” Ilya purred, running with fingers through Shane’s hair. “Mm?” “It is the most sexy you have ever looked.” “Shut the fuck up.” “I do not lie! You are a good dancer, great even. For a Canadian, at least.” Shane dances in his kitchen exactly one (1) time and it gets leaked to the media. Expected chaos ensues. Ilya intervenes in a very Ilya way.

  13. Ilya quickly put two fingers in his mouth to shut him up, but Shane moaned even louder at the action. Unbeknownst to them, poor, young Luca Haas had stumbled out of the bathroom near them and almost yelped when he turned in their direction. Their teammates laughed at him all the way to the bar when he tried to recount what had him looking like a ghost. So here Shane was: delirious, hard, and pleasantly sucking Ilya’s fingers pumping in and out of his mouth against a club wall. 5 times Shane’s oral fixation gets him and Ilya in trouble +1 time it’s just for them. (Inspired by Husdon Williams’ explicit support for Shane’s oral fixation.)

  16. Ilya Rozanov has exactly one problem with his secret relationship with Shane Hollander: Scott Hunter has more fanfiction than them. The solution is obvious. They’ll just have to make the internet ship them harder. What could possibly go wrong? Or in which two NHL players discover AO3, decide to manipulate their public image to generate more fanfiction, and not so accidentally come out in the process. Featuring: competitive nonsense, live television mishaps, and one very distressed Scott Hunter. Ilya is sprawling across Shane’s ridiculously expensive couch in Montreal when he discovers the betrayal. “Shane,” he says, and his voice has that particular quality that makes Shane look up immediately from where he’s chopping vegetables in the kitchen. It’s the tone that means Ilya has found something on the internet that will derail their entire evening. “No,” Shane says preemptively. “You do not even know what I am saying.” “I know that tone.” Shane points the knife at him, then seems to remember that’s probably not safe and puts it down. “That’s your ‘I found something online and now I’m going to be weird about it’ tone.” “I am never weird.” “You spent three hours last Tuesday looking up whether penguins could be gay.” “They can be! Was important research.” Ilya sits up, phone clutched in his hand like evidence. “But this is different. This is serious.” Shane wipes his hands on a towel and comes around the kitchen island. He’s barefoot, wearing joggers and one of Ilya’s new Centaurs hoodies that he definitely stole, and Ilya’s heart does something complicated in his chest. It’s been nine years and Shane still makes him feel like he’s seventeen and discovering what want means. “What is it?” Shane asks, softer now, because he can probably see something in Ilya’s face. “Scott Hunter has more fics than us on AO3.” Shane blinks. “What?” “Scott. Hunter.” Ilya enunciates each word with deep offense. “Has more fanfiction than Hollanov.” “Hollanov?” “Is our ship name. Keep up.” Ilya scrolls aggressively through his phone. “Look. Scott Hunter/Kip Grady has one thousand two hundred thirty-seven fics. Ilya Rozanov/Shane Hollander has nine hundred and eighty-three.” Shane stares at him. “You counted?” “AO3 counts for you. Is right there.” Ilya gestures at his screen. “And is bullshit. We are much better love story than Scott and his little smoothie boyfriend.” “His name is Kip, and they’re cute together.” “We are CUTER.” “Ilya-” “No, listen.” Ilya stands up, pacing now, phone still clutched in his hand. “We are generational talents. Best rivalry in hockey right now. Everyone says. The media, they love us. ‘Rozanov versus Hollander, the new Crosby and Ovechkin,’ they say. We have drama. We have passion.” “We have to keep it secret or we’ll destroy our careers and possibly get death threats,” Shane points out. “Details.” Ilya waves this away. “Point is, we are interesting! Scott Hunter is old and boring-” “He’s thirty-one-” “ANCIENT. And he is with normal guy who makes smoothies! Where is intrigue? Where is fire?” Ilya spins to face Shane, eyes bright with the particular intensity that means he’s gotten an idea, and those are always dangerous. “We should have more fics.” Shane crosses his arms, and oh, Ilya knows that posture. That’s Shane’s ‘I’m going to be reasonable and you’re going to hate it’ posture. “We can’t have more fics because people don’t know we’re together. Because we’re not out. Because it’s complicated.” “Maybe is too complicated.” “Ilya-” “Maybe we should make people suspect.” Ilya’s grin is sharp and reckless. “Nothing confirmed. Just … little things. Hints. Enough for people to write about.” “You want to bait fanfic writers into shipping us more?” “I want to beat Scott fucking Hunter, yes.” Shane’s mouth twitches. He’s trying not to smile, which means Ilya is already winning. “You know this is insane, right?” “You love when I am insane.” “I really don’t.” “You love me.” Shane’s face softens, the way it only does when they’re alone like this, when the walls come down and he stops being Shane Hollander, Canadian Golden Boy, and becomes just Shane. Just his. “Yeah,” he says quietly. “I really do.” Ilya closes the distance between them, and reaches down to cup Shane’s face. Ilya is four inches taller, which Shane will deny matters until his dying breath, but right now it means

  17. Shane had a reputation since his rookie days, the polite good-boy Canadian compared to Ilya’s cocky bad-boy Russian branding. Neither of them were perfect fits, they were more than the little boxes the media shoved them into, but convincing anyone of that was a hard thing. So Shane never really tried, it wasn’t all that hard though. He was polite – in part because he cared about how he was perceived – and he was Canadian, he loved and lived for hockey. Ilya was cocky, he smoked, he didn’t give a shit about being nice to reporters who asked stupid questions, he chirped loud and played hard, and regularly visited the penalty box. Shane had never once been involved in a fight on the ice or been sent to the penalty box. That wasn’t to say Shane had never been involved in a fight. Despite the polite Canadian exterior and the boring personality Ilya so loved to tease him about, Shane had his fair share of experience throwing gloves and dealing punches. He was just more discreet about it. OR the five times Shane got into fights off the ice without anyone knowing, the two times he got into a fight on the ice for everyone else to see, and the one time Shane didn’t need to get involved in the fight
