i don't know where the switches are (or where you keep the cutlery) by morganalegay
Heated Rivalry (TV)

Shane knows, logically, that Ilya doesn’t really think he’s boring. Not in a mean way, not in a way that’s meant to gnaw at him. He is boring. He wears the clothes his stylist picks out for him, he does ad campaigns, and he tries to look sexy instead of uncomfortable. He puts a thousand accent pillows on his bed because his interior designer tells him to. He wears the Rolex watch and makes sure he wears it well. He knows Ilya is just poking fun at him. Ilya doesn’t really mean he’s boring; he means Shane is comfortable- that he’s safe, and that he hasn’t had very many safe things in his life. Shane is happy to be that, if that’s what Ilya wants (if that’s what he likes).

When Shane finally opened the door to his apartment, he was greeted by a loud, teasing voice that made him grimace. “There he is. Shane Hollander, good guy turned bad.” He shot a sharp glare. “Shut the fuck up,” he muttered, kicking off his shoes and hanging up his jacket before heading toward Ilya. “No, never,” Ilya grinned mischievously. “This has been my wet dream for so long.” Shane looked up, raising an eyebrow. “Me fighting Hunter is your wet dream? Gross.” Ilya towered over him, thumb tracing Shane’s freckles as he stepped closer. “Just you fighting. Would’ve preferred it was me.”

Ilya hated that Shane noticed it as he had been hoping he distracted Shane enough to not notice that Ilya was in his own head again. Ilya felt like he should have known Shane would notice something was wrong because Shane always noticed everything about him like he noticed everything about Shane. Ilya let his hands trail along Shane's ribs and sighed as he looked at him before admitting "I don't want to go back to Boston, I want to stay here with you" softly. or Ilya tells Shane at the cottage he's tired of hiding and having to pretend he hates Shane for the media.

Shane had schedules to stick to, regimens to maintain, plays to study, drills to perfect. He needed to eat the same thing, every day. Train in the best way to keep his mind and body fit by keeping to strict programs. He needed to stick to his plan so that he could ensure that everything also went, well…to plan. He needed all of these things to fall in place otherwise— well he tried not to think too hard about the otherwise. He couldn’t let otherwise happen. Basically he’d treated his body like a fucking temple for majority of his life and had no problems with it yet— And then he turned 30. or Shane starts noticing changes after he turns 30— He doesn't bounce back the same way he used to and it suddenly sends him spiralling. Ilya is there to pick him up and kiss him better when he’s brought to an abrupt halt.

Then Ilya’s mouth was there. Right on the spot. His lips pressed a soft, lingering kiss to that exact patch of skin below Shane’s navel. It was a combination of the location, the tenderness of the gesture so at odds with Ilya’s usual aggressive passion, and the sheer accumulated sensitivity of weeks of focused attention that broke the dam. or, that picture of Ilya kissing Shane's lower belly broke my brain.

Ilya tries to deal with the fallout when he is left alone, realizing how deep he is falling for Shane.
