    Svetlana learns that Jane is Shane Hollander at the start of the 2017-2018 hockey season. She immediately decides that she and Shane are going to be friends. After all, Ilya is her best friend, and Shane is love of her best friend's life; it just makes sense to be his friend, too. She's pretty sure that's how it works.

    Over the following years, she gets a few opportunities to solidify that friendship, and help both Shane and Ilya feel a little less lonely.

    Joe Airds thinks about Shane Hollander, and has to concede that he might have been the insensitive sports bro in this friendship.

Eyes soft, Shane gazes at Ilya, not seeming to realize what’s happening at all. And Ilya, overcome with terror, can only watch as Shane’s whole being simply disintegrates into thin air.

He's overly aware of how Marly fills out this shirt now, unfastened in a deep vee, the button straining. This never felt like a problem before, how good he looks. How… touchable.

    Ilya orders them both a beer. Like usual. Like the last time he had seen this man, they hadn't both been balls-deep in Ilya's life partner.
