"The changing room was muted as the players waited to be told who would be called. It always hurt to lose, but losing against Boston always stung more, and not just for Shane. Hayden came up, half undressed to pat Shane on the shoulder, saying, “We’ll get them next time, man. You did great.” Shane managed a weak smile. Just then, the locker room door opened and a nervous-looking Jordan - the rookie on the Raiders’ team appeared. The ribbing and bickering stilled. “Um- hi guys,” he started. Shane held his breath. “Captain wants…Hollander.” WHAT. The Voyagers’ locker room immediately delved into self-righteous uproar. “That entitled prick!” “Fuck him, man.” “That son-of-a-bitch.” “Like hell he can have our captain. Who the fuck does he think he is?” Set in an AU where Winner's Rooms exist and Ilya picks Shane a few months after snapping at him in Sochi and ignoring his texts. Shane thinks he can ignore the hurt but panicks when Ilya's signature chirping hits a little too close to home.

Shane's breath catches on a sob, and he muffles the sound with his hand. Everything feels like too much. He’s naked, and he can feel entirely too much on his body, inside his body, and he hates how it's starting to feel gross. His head is pounding, and he can't even focus on placating his mind when his lungs are also screaming in his throat for breath. Ilya hears, and his hands reach out to hold Shane, tension lying in every part of his body. “Shane—” “Don't touch me,” Shane snaps, more desperation than yelling as he rips his arm out of Ilyas's grasp. His tears have nowhere to go now, and they finally spill over, hot and humiliating, down his cheeks. Ilya freezes in place, hand hovering mid-air. A myriad of emotions flicker across his face: confusion, hurt, fear. Ilya takes an unconscious step back like someone shoved him. His body curls in on itself, trying to make himself appear smaller. He looks... terrified. Like, Shane just called him a monster, and he believes it. OR: inspired by the fight in the long game when ilya had told shane he could have sex with other men because he did not believe in cheating.

A rewrite of episode four and what happens afterward. “Well yeah,” Shane said, his voice took the slightly bratty tone that Rozanov loves. “You keep your house cold as shit.” This made Rozanov burst out laughing. He went towards his dresser to pull out a hoodie. He pauses as he sees Shane’s perfectly folded outfit settle neatly on the wood. He lets a small smile cross his lips within the privacy his back has provided from Shane. Like in every piece of clothing Rozanov has ever had the luxury of peeling off of Shane’s body a neat S.H. was written on the label of Shane’s jacket. He was about to toss an old CCM sweatshirt to Shane when a different one caught his eye. The team had got them this year, they were black with the Boston Bear’s logo in yellow. The hoodie was branded with Rozanov’s number and last name on it. The thought of Hollander, Montreal’s and the NHL’s golden boy, wearing his name did something to him. I guess he didn’t care that Shane was a hockey god, the only thing he cared about was the fact that in a few moments he was going to see Shane wearing his last name. Something he couldn’t let himself dream of.
