Luca Haas moves in with Ilya Rozanov for his rookie year and slowly gets adopted by Hollanov. Not even three months into their arrangement, Luca gets injured in a game against the Voyageurs. Shane is there to pick up the pieces while Ilya is busy fighting the guy that did it.
This is a one shot that was requested by a commenter (ohshereallydidthat) on my main fic, "Growing Outward." They wanted a Shane POV of the incident in Chapter 15 so here we are! Could also be read as a standalone.

Without a word, Ilya snaps his fingers and when Shane looks up he is holding Bood's phone in his hand. For a fleeting moment, Shane considers throwing the phone the full length of the bus just to get it away from his husband.
He watches the way Ilya's eyes drag across the screen, reading whatever is in front of him. Ilya's jaw muscle twitches, his eyes narrow, and his nostrils flare. His whole face shifts from the beautiful man that he loves into some chiseled marble statue depicting the depth of man's rage.

To be clear, Ilya is grateful the rookies aren’t growing up the way he did in the NHL. Ilya took the hazing to the chin – humiliation rituals, beat downs, grueling practices to prove he could “hang” with the big guns on the team. That being said, there’s still some part of Ilya that balks at the request by the gaggle of rookies to watch The Iron Giant, a veritable children’s movie at the team’s latest movie night.
