Was this it? Is this how he was supposed to die? After everything he’d done, everything he’d tried to do with his life, this was all he got? A plane crash that would surely end in a fiery explosion? His parents wouldn’t even have anything to bury. There would be no body left after this. He was their only child, and they wouldn’t even be able to have a proper funeral for him. Or, Shane is on the plane that is about to crash instead of Ilya.

Rozanov's attention was always fleeting, never really guaranteed. Only resting on Shane for as long as he remained interesting. He could always find someone else. Someone less boring. The thrill and the danger of sneaking around had kept Rozanov around for as long as it did but now it seemed to have come to an end. And maybe it was better that way. OR: In which Shane goes into subdrop after Vegas and worries that Rozanov might have enough of their arrengement.

"One second, Ilya was soaring across the ice, misdirecting the Montreal player that was on his tail, and the next he was knocked off his skates, falling face first into the ice. There was a sickening crack as his helmet slammed against the ice and he saw stars, blinding pain flashing across his forehead and down the bridge of his nose." Hollanov hurt/comfort one shot! Ilya gets laid out during a game against Montreal, and Shane shows up at his apartment to take care of him. Very fluffy.

“I simply think it's paramount to remember,” Shane sharpens his gaze and directly pins the camera with a steely gaze. “That the Metros wouldn't get where they are without me. See you at the play-offs. Goodnight,” The microphone switches shut, cameras flashing in rapid succession, and Shane gives them the cockiest smirk he could muster before walking towards the exit, shoulders shoving a journalist aside as he stumbles and nearly smashes his camera against the edge of the stage panel. Enough was enough for Shane Hollander. With a contract to burn and enough rage stewing in his stomach—it was about goddamn time he said something.

“Hollander.” Shane’s head snaps back to his left. Ilya is much closer, pace slightly hurried. “Come here.” His voice sort of mimics the way one would talk to an animal paralyzed in fight-or-flight. Shane is not sure what to make of that. He slowly turns his head in the opposite direction, where his vision tunnels on the door for the stairwell. It almost glows like a special item in a video game, like a hint. Without giving himself time to doubt, he bolts. “Wha- Hollander, what the fuck!” Ilya shouts in audible disbelief, and Shane distinctly hears matching thuds of frantic footsteps behind him; Ilya is chasing after him. Shane runs faster, positively sprinting at this point. He’s the fastest skater in the NHL right now. He can do this. He flings the door open and bounds down the steps two at a time, hitting the walls with each turn of a corner. If he eats shit on this filthy floor and embarrasses himself in front of Ilya, he thinks, he’ll never let himself see the light of day ever again. or alternatively, in which Shane accidentally sends the text, and Ilya chases after him. Like, actually chases after him.
