one of me is cute, but two though? by byulelle
Game Changers Series - Rachel Reid, Heated Rivalry (TV)
2026-01-23
But against all odds, Ilya gets a cup for his new team before Shane’s retirement, their rivalry now more intense before his rival falls off the face of the earth. Then, one Stanley cup – after three decades of not bringing home any banners, Ilya Rozanov finally helps win them a Cup– The TV shuts off, effect disconcerting as two familiar silhouettes sit on a couch, a curly mop of hair and a neatly combed back wolfcut. A tiny, bald head comes into view when Ilya turns, encasing a baby in his arms, so cute and pudgy and under no dispute is definitely a Hollander-Rozanov. “...What?” he asks with a grin, a mildly annoyed expression on Shane’s face. Shane reaches out to close hands over the baby’s ears, “You watch your back, Rozanov,” he mumbles threateningly, “The moment I return on ice, your winning streak is over,” ; Ilya gets Shane pregnant. A happy accident if anything.

It was a start, Shane knew that. And no matter what happened, he’d help Ilya. Always, as promised forever. They were going to win a hundred more Stanleys, retire, have children, and grow old together. The soil was damp, cold, and suffocating as the other digs into the earth with bare hands, with a single-minded intensity to free each ragged and stifled breath from the clutches of the loam. And with a new dawning of the sun, Ilya would find himself feeling its rays. Tonight wasn’t a good night, but tomorrow was a new day. ; 5 tells and signs Ilya is going through a depressive episode, and the ways Shane tries to help him through it.

“Like you could even drive mine, Hollander. Too strong, too powerful for boring man like you,” he bellows, eyes sharp and smoldering. And the implication isn't lost on Shane. “You don't know that,” Shane scoffs and rolls his eyes. “Want to test drive then?” Ilya slides the key fob towards the space between them. When his vodka arrives, Shane's hand darts to grab the glass and downs it all in one go. “You take me,” he says through a grimace. “If I like how it…drives, maybe I'll buy it from you when I steal that Stanley from under your nose,” he mumbles before walking off towards said car. Ilya just cocks a brow up, amused. “Maybe I need to put a muzzle on you, Hollander,” Within the space of a hundred roaring sports cars, Shane Hollander finds his favorite ride.

Ilya couldn’t help it, gently collecting the small girl into his arms as she easily wrapped her arms around his neck. She was so light, lighter than she should be for a five year old, and yet the burden she carried had nearly weighed her down just as easily. Ilya swears he'd carve out a future where she would never shy away from the sunshine, where she would never question or second guess whether she deserves the calm, the warmth, the love that she receives. Their deaths weren't her fault, never was, never would be. "Uncle Ilyushka is here now." Svetlana calls the Hollander-Rosanovs to inform them Andrei and Alexia have been killed. And that Katarina, his niece, has less than a week before she's officially filed in foster care. Nobody wants to grow up in Russia's foster system. And Uncle Ilyushka of all people, would not allow it.
