When Hayden's parents are injured while Jackie is away and none of his usual babysitters are available, new Ottawa resident Rozanov volunteers to watch the kids for the week. And to Hayden's shock, he finds himself desperate enough to agree to it.
---
“What about your wife?” Ilya wondered, his question soft to make sure he didn’t upset him again. “Can she not watch kids while you visit your parents?”Hayden, for a moment, furrowed his brows. He never heard that gentle of a tone from Rozanov before. Ever. He thought about snapping again, but frankly, felt a bit too tired for it. Instead, he just shook his head.
“She’s not even in the country,” he admitted. “And I can’t bother her after ruining her vacation last year.”
Ilya’s lips twitched, something akin to respect showing for a moment. “Alright, fine,” he muttered, sighing. “I take them.”
He blinked, scoffing. “What?” he responded in confusion.
“The kids, I take your kids,” Ilya clarified, gesturing between them. “How long will you be gone, a week? Two?” He leaned over, sorting through the other cart without permission to look at the snacks in comparison to what he already had at his house.

‘I look forward to getting to know you more, husband-to-be.’ Ilya smirks, tongue wrapping around the last word with relish, a hand coming to trace the freckles dusted across his cheeks with a surprisingly delicate touch.
Shane smacks his hand away with a snort, tampering down the blush threatening to make itself known to instead snap out a frosty retort. ‘In your dreams.’
Except all Ilya, the Prince of Rozan, has to offer is a dark smile and wandering eyes. Shane can feel them burning through his clothes, his shoulders resisting the urge to curl inwards and shield himself from Ilya’s gaze.
‘Oh, but you already are. Am I not in yours, sweet prince?’
or: Shane, Crown Prince of Hollaith hates Prince Ilya of Rozan with a passion. So the idea of marrying him is his worst nightmare - right?

“How did I know what?” Ilya asked.

“Okay,” Shane said. “Let’s just keep it friendly, yeah?”
Ilya gifted him a smile. “For you, always fun.” Then he added, “Also, Pike, you play this very badly. Like hockey.”
Hayden launched himself to his feet. “Oh, I’m sorry, is this coming from the guy who flops like a dying fish every time someone skates near him?”

Shane grinned. “You are experiencing baby fever!” Ilya cocked his head to the side, and looked at his husband confused. Shane let out a snort. Just a little one. Ilya raised his eyebrows, and Shane began to laugh. “Baby fever? What is this? I have no fever,” Ilya pouted. "Five years ago Shane had brought up the idea of starting a family. They’d been married for a year at that point and it was a discussion that had previously included phrases such as: “Maybe we could-” “Someday, if we decide to-” “I don’t know, but if we did-” They’d talked about hypothetical children. Hypothetical arrangements they could make for when they needed childcare for a game or practice. How many, hypothetically, did they want? In theory, what kind of parents did they want to be? What would discipline look like? Would they try to get them into hockey? What if they didn’t like hockey?" --- Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov have been fathers for four-almost five years now. Every year the NHL posts a promotional 'Fathers' Day' video of famous players and their kids. Yuna finds out they've never been invited, and that simply will not do.

Eva was Ilya and Shane’s miracle child, born prematurely in the summer of their third season together on the Centaurs. The moment they laid eyes on her in the NICU of The Ottawa Hospital was the moment they both felt their life truly had purpose. Eva was smaller than the other babies but already had a head of soft blonde curls. Her tiny hands would grip Shane’s fingers as Ilya sang Russian lullabies, their favorite pastime, and her big blue eyes would marvel at the world around her. She was kind and sweet and truly an angel, which is what made it so, so terrifying when she told them at 5 years old that she wanted to play hockey like papa and daddy. - A 5+1 of Ilya and Shane’s life as parents, through the lens of their daughter’s experiences with hockey.

“Where is my baby?” Ilya asks as soon as he opens the door to the Pikes’ SUV when it pulls into the parking lot of Christ Church Cathedral.
“Lovely to see you too, Rozanov,” Hayden says as he opens his car door.
“Hi, Hayden,” Shane says from behind Ilya. “Lovely to see you. Please ignore my husband.”
Ilya can’t even be bothered to snark back at either of them, because today is his big day.
Well, mostly. It’s sort of Amber’s day, too, he guesses, and kind of Shane’s as well if one were to look at it from a very specific angle, but mostly it’s Ilya’s.
And as Amber gives him a cheesy grin when she sees him (a new development as of the last couple of weeks), Ilya knows even his boring husband and his boring husband’s loser best friend can’t ruin this perfect day.
Because today, Ilya’s becoming a godfather.
