After Ilya and Shane are outed, Marleau books himself on to the same queer studies course that the Raiders management forced Ilya to attend when he was cancelled for being a homophobe.

It turns out several other Raiders players thought Marleau had the right idea about that. Now around half of the Raiders roster are all sat together in the little classroom. It’s about as chaotic as you would expect. The professor Sandra is forced to add an increasing number of amendments to the ‘Course Rules and Guidelines’ that she never expected to be putting into writing.

    -----
Amendment No. 5. - No, there are no additional course credits for “proving you’re an ally by complimenting your bros in the locker room showers."

Amendment No. 6. - Downloading Grindr will also not get you any extra credits. [ Although if you wish to download Grindr for its intended purposes, I would obviously not want to discourage you in this. ]

Amendment No. 7. - Taking time during games to tell Admirals player Scott Hunter that you think his boyfriend is extremely hot is NOT actually effective allyship within the league. Yes, EVEN if Ilya Rozanov told you it would be.

  2. On the eve of his thirty-fifth birthday, Shane Hollander falls asleep beside his husband and thinks about everything his own fear had cost them.

He wakes up ten years earlier. Twenty-five. No wedding ring. No Anya at the foot of the bed. No Ilya beside him.

He still remembers it all: the years of hiding, the loneliness Ilya carried alone in Ottawa, the breakdown that nearly took him, the pain that could have been prevented if Shane had just chosen him sooner.

He also remembers their happy ending.

This time, Shane wants to change the cost. He wants to love Ilya openly, before it breaks him. He wants to be the person Ilya needed when he was most vulnerable.

Or: Mysterious Time-Travel AU/Fix-it feat. bad-ass Shane Hollander. Plans to take down a homophobic hockey-league included.

  3. Shane Hollander thought that everyone hated Ilya Rozanov. Okay, so maybe they didn't all hate him for the same reasons: hockey players hated him because he was an asshole on the ice, the League hated him because he paralyzed another player, and the fans hated him because he abandoned them for Russia in the middle of his best season.

Shane only hated him because he broke Shane's heart.

But suddenly up is down and down is up: the ban has been lifted, and Rozanov is back in the League. Worse, he's playing on Shane's team. Making friends with Shane's teammates. Sending heart eyes across Shane's locker room floor. Sending flowers to Shane's apartment in the middle of the night!

And somehow, everyone in Shane's life thinks he should be just fine with all this. (Well, okay—he didn't tell them about the flowers.)

But if Ilya Rozanov thinks that Shane Hollander is going to roll over for him a second time, he's going to have just enough time to regret it before Shane proves how very, very wrong he is...

  4. Ilya Rozanov was an asshole. Everybody knew this. Sometimes, though, secretly, he wasn't.

Or, 4 times strangers were kind to one another, plus a few times Ilya Rozanov started publicly bashing bigots online.

  5. @HarveySmth76:
So, Dallas Kent's teammate just tweeted this:

Rozanov isn’t any better, though. Like we all know it. Dude's banged like a thousand women. Bet if even just a few of them talked, you'd all be shutting up about Kent pretty quick.

    ----

Dallas Kent’s teammate makes a bigoted assumption. A very loud, very incorrect assumption. Twitter eats him alive.

Because, yes, Rozanov has slept with a lot of women and they have a lot to say. About consent and check-ins and that accent.

#OkIWillTalk is trending, as is #SexGodOfTwitter. Toronto Survivor's Legal Fund is finally gaining some traction. And Ilya is definitely going to punch Kent. Again.

Told through twitter snapshots and extracts from the Ottawa Centaurs Group Chat.

  6. "In the pile-up, Kent said some shit that I guess the refs missed in the chaos." Shane rolls his eyes and scoffs. "And it pissed me off, and I figured, hey, we're up by two in the third period, Toronto hasn't scored shit all night. I could probably take a major and the team would be fine." He shrugs, suddenly sheepish. "Of course, I mostly got my ass kicked, but–" Ilya makes sure that he's grabbing the unbruised part of Shane's face when he plants a firm kiss right on his split lip. Or; Ilya watches Shane lose a fight, and then helps him scratch an itch.
