The Voyagers’ locker room immediately delved into self-righteous uproar. “That entitled prick!” “Fuck him, man.” “That son-of-a-bitch.” “Like hell he can have our captain. Who the fuck does he think he is?” Set in an AU where Winner's Rooms exist and Ilya picks Shane a few months after snapping at him in Sochi and ignoring his texts. But as he looks at his phone screen, he realizes there's no line through the microphone on the the call that Hayden is still very much a part of. Which means - “Um, Hayden?” Shane asks as he brings the phone back to his ear, feeling all the blood drain from his face. There's a few beats of silence before he hears his best friend practically shout, “What the fuck, Hollander?” or, at the cottage, Shane forgets to press 'mute.'
