  1. Shane comes home tired and in need of some serious care from his husband. Ilya is more than happy to give him what he needs. Just a very fluffy oneshot of them being soft and happy. Light smut and even lighter angst. There were many things about Shane that Ilya loved more than the air he breathed. He loved the way Shane’s freckles glowed when he blushed, and god did Ilya love making Shane blush. He loved the way Shane’s walnut colored eyes glossed over when Ilya took charge, whether they were in the bedroom or simply when Shane needed the release of giving himself up to his husband. Ilya loved when Shane’s head lay on his chest and he could smell the clean scent of Shane’s shampoo, his ink hair lightly tickling Ilya’s cheek. He would run his hands through it, scrape his nails down Shane’s nape and feel him completely and utterly melt into him. There were too many things Ilya loved about Shane to name, but there was one thing that his husband did that made Ilya feel like he would lose his mind. Now, Ilya knew Shane would never approve of him saying that he had an oral fixation, but Ilya didn’t really know what else to call it. Shane just liked having things in his mouth… all the time. Ever since Ilya had known Shane, his husband always seemed to have something in his mouth, or at least seemed to relax when he had things in his mouth. Whether it was a hoodie string, a straw, the collar of his t-shirt, his knuckle, or even his bottom lip. Shane just was always sucking or biting something. Ilya didn’t really think much of it at first. Well that wasn’t totally true, Ilya always thought it was hot when Shane had something in his mouth, especially when they were younger. It was hard to sit there and watch Shane chew and suck on a hoodie string when it could’ve been Ilya’s dick instead. And lord did Ilya love when Shane sucked his dick. Ever since their first time together, when Shane was inexperienced and desperate, he was so good. Shane was always so good, especially for Ilya. It was satisfying when Shane would simply drop to his knees without being asked, his hands burning against the backs of Ilya’s thighs as he took Ilya’s cock in his mouth like it was second nature, like he belonged there. He certainly acted like it. Ilya never realized how much Shane sucking him off was for Shane as much as it was for him. Ilya never really thought about it back then, he was selfish and took Shane for granted and Ilya regretted it with his whole soul. But as they grew and their relationship grew and they stopped being stupid about their feelings, Ilya started to truly notice all of Shane’s little mannerisms. Ilya saw how much Shane loved to be good. He loved praise, he loved reassurance, and he loved being told he did a good job. When Ilya took control, Shane was allowed to simply be Shane. He wasn’t Shane Hollander the hockey player, he was Ilya’s Shane. So when Shane came home from his game, sweaty and tired, his bag hitting their wooden floors with a thump, Ilya knew, even before he saw his husband, what he needed. Ilya had seen the game, and had seen how hard Shane pushed himself for them to win. Ilya knew that even though they won, Shane would need him. “Shane?” Ilya called from the living room, muting the tv and casually walking over to the front door where his husband was leaning against the wall as he toed off his shoes. Shane was wearing a simple white shirt and athletic sweats, his eyes droopy and tired and his hair sticking up in wild places. “Hey,” Shane greeted, exhaustion dripping into his voice as he pulled himself to stand upright, wobbling a little as he did so. Ilya went to his side, a hand resting heavy and comforting on the back of Shane’s neck. He brought Shane into his chest, his husband’s cheek pressed flush against his bare flesh. “You played so hard tonight,” Ilya murmured into Shane’s hair and he felt Shane’s body go limp into his own. He was already braced for it and easily took his husband’s weight. “You made everyone so proud, made me so proud. You deserve rest, lyubimyy,” he stroked a hand through Shane’s hair and kissed the top of his head. Shane’s arms came up limp and heavy to wrap around Ilya’s waist, his hands splayed across Ilya’s strong back. “How do you always seem to know what I need?” Shane mumbled, into Ilya’s pectoral, his lips warm and soft on Ilya’s skin.

  3. February 14th - 6pm. Montreal vs Boston. It wasn't often that Shane and Ilya got to spend a whole night together during regular season. So when their game falls on Valentines day, with a few days off after, it is no suprise that they plan in using that time to their advantage. The Metros were flying the WAGs to Boston for WAGs night since it was Valentines Day. They also gave the guys a chance to sleep in with a late afternoon flight home. Seeing as Jackie was coming with the WAGs, Shane knew he'd have no problem sneaking out to spend his night with Ilya. After all why wouldn't Hayden want the hotel room for him and his wife. While Shane may not be expecting anything, Ilya has big plans for their first Valentines Day together as boyfriends. Ilya usually isn't the big romantic gesture one in the relationship, but something about this just felt right. He got up extra early on February 14th just to make sure everything was perfect for their night together. TLDR; Shane and Ilya's first Valentines together since becoming official or Ilya has plans for a romantic and erotic Valentines day at his place.

  5. Ilya considers, then, the idea of a smaller joy, the kind so molecular no one would know how to make him feel sorry for any of it. He thinks of Svetlana and him at McDonald’s, drunk and laughing; sprints, instead of long and dreadful runs; and even then that familiar swath of freckles, all faded from weak winter sun. There are times when Ilya is sorry, and there are times when he is not. (or: Heated Rivalry, as told through so many apologies.)

Shane nearly stops himself right there, runs through all of the ways he could navigate away from the question, but when he opens his mouth it comes right out anyway. "Was he hard on you too?" Or Ilya had been waiting for the other shoe to drop. He just hadn’t expected it to be about this, hadn’t expected, or maybe simply refused to accept, that his father would somehow still hurt him beyond the grave, that the punches and split lips and broken ribs would still, impossibly, ache within him after all this time. or Shane tries to talk to Ilya about his past. It doesn't go as planned.

  10. “It’s one of your superstitions, right?” Hayden asked. “Like my hat. It’s your good luck shirt.” Shane felt a chill run down his spine. He hadn’t thought anyone would notice. In truth, he’d barely noticed himself. It wasn’t something he was actively doing. It wasn’t like his weight circuit or his diet or his night routine. It wasn’t meditation or yoga or cross-training. Those were all things he did with meticulous, painstaking purpose. This was just… this was something else. This wasn’t thought driven. If he was being honest, it barely had to do with hockey. It maybe was one of the only things in his life that didn’t have to do with hockey. If he was stressed, he wore the shirt and it made him feel a little bit better. It just so happened that most of the time he was stressed about something to do with hockey. That was it. It was just a feeling. A feeling of calm that came from Ilya Rozanov’s shirt. OR: Shane accidentally wore Ilya's shirt back to the hotel after it things started to feel Too Real. What if he kept the shirt? Ilya spends the night after Shane's concussion unable to sleep and obsessively checking for updates until he can't take it anymore. Ilya lay staring up at the dark ceiling of his hotel room, unable to sleep. He had checked his phone a dozen times since lying down, each time thinking that surely an hour or two had passed only to discover it had been fifteen minutes or less since the last time. It was after 2am now and at some point he needed to admit to himself that he simply wasn’t going to sleep tonight. “Blyat,” he swore beneath his breath. He rolled onto his side and grabbed his phone off the nightstand, accidentally yanking the charging cord out of the wall. He swore softly. With shaking fingers he unlocked the screen and refreshed the google search still pulled up from the last dozen attempts: Shane Hollander injury update There was nothing new. The same CBC report from four hours ago, the TSN one from three. The Metros had posted to twitter as soon as the game ended, but all they’d said was that Shane had been taken to the hospital for evaluation. There was a reddit thread but it was full of speculation that Ilya knew not to read and did so anyway. That too had gone quiet when all the Canadians went to sleep hours ago. He opened his messages from “Jane,” thumb hovering over the keyboard, but what would he say? How are you? I hope you’re okay? I miss you? If Hollander was okay he would have texted. It was a concussion, it had to be a concussion. Nobody took a hit like that without bruising their brain at least a little. But what if it was worse? What if Hollander was in a coma, just drifting in the darkness alone, not knowing what was happening? Ilya wanted to swear; he wanted to throw his phone across the room; he wanted to scream. But Marleau was snoring on the bed next to his and if he started letting it all out he wasn’t sure he’d be able to stop. He didn’t want to have to explain to Marleau—or the hotel staff— why he’d decided to flip over the bed and throw the lamp through the window. He rolled onto his back and let his phone fall against his chest, the glow of it winking out. This was torture. This was worse than any loss, any practice, any beating Alexei had ever given him. This was worse than… Fuck. He couldn’t do this anymore—any of it. It hurt all the damn time and it was never going to get better. He rolled out of bed, hunting around for a t-shirt. He had a vague idea of going down to the gym to work out until he was too tired to keep his eyes open any longer, but that made him think of Hollander and the night after they’d both been drafted. The night Ilya had made the first, cautious overtures that had led to…all this. On a whim, he grabbed his coat off the back of a chair and shrugged it on before carefully opening the hotel room door and stepping out into the hallway. He stood in the shadows of Rue de la Gauchetière, gazing up at the dark windows of Hollander’s condo. He’d never seen it from the front and it looked…boring. He shivered, huddling deeper into his coat. 3am was perhaps not the best time to be wandering the streets of Montreal in early spring. It wasn’t exactly winter in Moscow, but it was decidedly nippy, and he hadn’t thought to bring a hat. This was idiotic. What was there to gain by coming here? What he wanted was to go to the hospital, to charm his way past the receptionist and slip into Hollander’s room when nobody would be around to know. He could stay for hours, just sitting by his bedside, holding his hand… And then what? It was an impossible dream and he knew it. He fidgeted at the sidewalk with his toe, wishing he’d brought a cigarette. Hollander’s family was probably there with him anyhow. They would support him. They would love him. He didn’t need Ilya and his bullshit feelings coming in and making a mess everywhere. He didn’t want to see Ilya like this; he wanted strength, confidence, sex. He wouldn’t want…this. “Blyat.” He jogged across the street, hands thrust in his pockets, breath making great plumes in the night air. It took him a moment to find the keypad, discreetly hidden beneath a panel that blended in with the door. 1-9-1-9 There was a moment’s hesitation in which Ilya held his breath, then the panel gave a little chirp and the door released with a soft click. Ilya let himself in. He climbed the marble stairs, hand on the wrought iron bannister, trying not to make a noise. Hollander’s condo was at the top and the same code opened the door there. He stepped inside and felt a rush of something, like the first drag on a cigarette, the spark of knowing he was doing something he wasn’t supposed to drifting on a current of soothing familiarity. This place felt like Shane, it smelled like Shane. Ilya nearly fell to his knees right there in the entryway but Russian stubbornness kept him upright, knees locked. For a time he simply stood there, breathing in and out. Eventually, a tingling numbness began to spread up his legs and he felt the heaviness of his muscles pulling him downward. With effort he dragged one foot forward, followed by another. He would never make it upstairs to the bed, but there was a ridiculously long sofa

“Worried?” said Shane. “Oh, no, I wouldn’t say I was worried. Just curious, I guess.” It was his worried voice. His thinking-too-hard voice. But Ilya was a nice boyfriend, so he wouldn’t point it out. “Curious about what, then?” “Well, like I said earlier,” Shane said. “You cried. When I…when I said I love you.” Shane wants a debrief on the whole love confession thing. Ilya thinks Shane is nosy (recently he has learned to say this), but he is not in the habit of saying no to his boyfriend, so...feelings it is.

He tried to think of things that didn't relate to Shane, or his mother, or hockey. Grasping at the mental straws, he couldn't come up with anything that didn't relate to Shane in some way. He had completely taken over Ilyas' life. Every good memory he had had Shane in it. Ilya spiralled further, the rubber floor seeming to spin. 17. “Wait,” Ilya swallows. Fuck fuck fuck. What is he doing? He shouldn’t offer this. They shouldn’t do this. If he were responsible, he would stand up and help Shane get dressed and order him a ride. Offering what he really wants to do is dangerous. It crosses the line. He does it anyway. “Stay,” Ilya sits up, vision swimming. It seems that extra vodka has caught up with him. Shane hesitates, and Ilya feels the need to explain himself a little better. “We are too drunk to have sex, but you can sleep it off here.” ______________ After leaving an after-party for an award show, Ilya and Shane meet up for a hook-up. Ilya realizes that they have both drank too much to have sex, so he offers for Shane to spend the night instead and sleep it off. Before they fall asleep though, Shane says something he shouldn't.
