To Be Remembered, Is To Be Loved by BrokenColors
Heated Rivalry (TV), Game Changers Series - Rachel Reid
2026-01-01
Shane Hollander forgets his marriage. Ilya Rozanov doesn’t forget how to love him. As Shane recovers from a concussion that fractures his memories, the life they built together resurfaces in quieter ways. Through routine, touch, shared space, and an intimacy that refuses to disappear. Love, it turns out, doesn’t always need memory. Sometimes, it just needs time. -------- tl;dr - Hollanov's Amnesia AU in which Shane's last memory is July 2010, a.k.a the first time they hooked up in Toronto after shooting the commercial. Problem is, it is 2022, and they have been married for almost a year, but Shane cannot remember the past 12 years of his life with Ilya.

Everyone Needs Ilya by frizzyanya
Heated Rivalry (TV), Game Changers Series - Rachel Reid
2026-01-01
In the Cottage (episode 6), after David sees Shane and Ilya, Ilya offers to accompany Shane to talk to his parents. We know that having him there helps Shane through it. But it also probably helped Yuna. If Shane showed up alone to have that conversation, it might have been a little bit harder for Yuna to believe it was all real. This is that AU.

“It’s not something we’ve discussed too much,” Shane admits reluctantly. “I mean, I think we talked about it once or twice, after being around Hayden’s kids. But…I was afraid…I don’t know if you want…” His sentence falters and he presses a hand to his stomach, inhaling slowly like he’s trying to soothe more nausea. It takes Ilya’s brain a few moments to process, to catch up, to piece together this half-filled puzzle Shane’s laying out for him. “We talked about having babies,” Ilya supplies, arching an eyebrow, “are you trying to say we are…having a baby?” Shane sucks in another slow, controlled breath. “Um, yeah. That’s what I’m trying to say.” “You are pregnant?” Wincing, the shorter man nods. “Mhm.” -or, vignettes of shane's unexpected pregnancy-

Ilya couldn’t help it, gently collecting the small girl into his arms as she easily wrapped her arms around his neck. She was so light, lighter than she should be for a five year old, and yet the burden she carried had nearly weighed her down just as easily. Ilya swears he'd carve out a future where she would never shy away from the sunshine, where she would never question or second guess whether she deserves the calm, the warmth, the love that she receives. Their deaths weren't her fault, never was, never would be. "Uncle Ilyushka is here now." Svetlana calls the Hollander-Rosanovs to inform them Andrei and Alexia have been killed. And that Katarina, his niece, has less than a week before she's officially filed in foster care. Nobody wants to grow up in Russia's foster system. And Uncle Ilyushka of all people, would not allow it.

Ilya smiles and leans in, his lips a few centimeters away from Shane's. "I thought you would not want me getting germs all over the place. You have game in a few days, you wouldn't want to be sick for that." "So you're allowed to play sick, and I'm not?" he asks. Ilya nods again, the tip of his nose bumping Shane's. — Ilya Rozanov hasn't been cared for while sick in decades. This, predictably, brings up some feelings when the Hollanders try to do just that.

“How are you feeling?” Ilya smiles, big and bright. “I feel fucking great, but I’m hungry and probably won’t be able to fuck for a couple of weeks” His words come out slurred and with a heavy accent, but his friends understand and laugh along with him. “That sucks” Wyatt says. “Not being able to fuck sexy women—” “And men” Ilya adds, too casually. Wyatt stops. “What?” Bood asks

Shane Hollander retires after one last game in Montreal. What follows is a night of empty locker rooms, long highways, and the slow realization that letting go of hockey doesn’t mean letting go of himself…especially when Ilya Rozanov is there to remind him of everything they’ve already won. Update: I added an epilogue of sorts from Ilya’s POV (which caused the rating change). I hope you enjoy!

Ilya recalls his mother in fragments: her voice, gentle in his ear; her curls, warming his cheeks as she wrapped him in an embrace; the way her eyes crinkled, as she brushed his hair back and said, “You are getting so tall now, Ilyusha. What am I going to do about my very tall bear?” Ilya Rozanov has never belonged to anyone but himself. An Ilya character study, tracing canon events.

“You are asking me to be careful with his heart.” It’s not a question. He knows he’s gotten it right, this time. A minuscule nod from Shane’s father. A breath. A small correction: “No, I’m telling you.” Ilya's never gotten a shovel talk before. There's a first time for everything.

Yuna could not have predicted she’d be sitting beside Ilya Rozanov in the warm breeze of a July evening, tucked behind the rock wall in Shane’s cottage backyard, grass tickling the backs of their legs. He wasn’t what she had expected. Quieter. Every bit as gorgeous as the TV screens sold him to be, and then some—baked into crooked grins and lopsided curls and sun-kissed skin and tilted accent. Beneath it all, a well. Too much, spilling over. She could see why her son fell so hard. In other words: Ilya and Yuna have a conversation when the Hollander family meets for dinner the day after Shane comes out.
