Okay. I like it...Picasso! by colorsflashing
Heated Rivalry (TV), Game Changers Series - Rachel Reid
2026-01-16
The internet is strange and chaotic and full of things no one bothers to explain. Ilya Rozanov loves it anyway. OR The one where Ilya learns a new viral phrase from TikTok. February 2022 "Will you please get off your phone?" Shane glares at the phone Ilya is holding while lying down in their bed. He glances away from his screen to look at his beautiful husband who is looking very grumpy. "Is someone a little jealous?" Ilya taunts, lifting his eyebrows teasingly. Shane rolls his eyes and rolls over, giving his back to Ilya. "No, I need to sleep and I can't do that if you're watching that stupid clock app." Shane grumbles and Ilya can't help but smile at his husband’s annoyance. "I will put my headphones on so you can get your beauty sleep." He replies, climbing out of bed to find them. Shane rolls onto his back to watch his husband walk across the room, glaring at him. "You're serious?" Shane demands angrily. Ilya looks over his shoulder at him and hesitates with his hand in his bag, "I am not tired yet." Ilya replies like he doesn't understand why Shane is so upset with him. Shane scoffs and rolls back to his side and closes his eyes. He's obviously angry and upset with Ilya. Ilya furrows his brows and stares at his husband. He doesn't want to make him angry so he abandons the headphones and makes his way back to bed, setting his phone down on the bedside table before lying down. Shane scoots infinitesimally away from Ilya as he climbs in. Ilya narrows his eyes in annoyance that his husband is trying to get away from him. He wastes no time wrapping his arm around Shane's waist and tugging him towards him, cuddling him against him tightly. Shane opens his mouth to protest but it quickly turns into a soft gasp when Ilya kisses his neck while trailing his hands down Shane's abs before settling on the waistline of his boxer briefs. "Is my husband feeling neglected?" Ilya whispers against Shane's skin. Shane shivers and nods, words clearly evading him. Ilya starts kissing toward his mouth and Shane turns to give him his lips. Ilya can't help but teasing him though, instead shifting so he hovers over Shane, kissing along his chest instead of giving him the kiss he's now desperate for based on how he groans in frustration. Ilya smiles against Shane's skin, happy that after all these years together that Shane is still desperate for him...that Ilya is just as desperate for Shane. He is a bit surprised that Shane is feeling neglected though when only an hour ago Ilya was on his knees in the shower with his cock in his mouth, but he's not going to complain. Especially when Shane is making the sounds he's making. "Ilya..." Shane groans in annoyance when Ilya licks along the waistband of his boxer briefs. Ilya opens his eyes to see Shane staring at him with hooded, lust-filled eyes that also are filled with so much love it still overwhelms Ilya. "Is okay Shane. I will take care of you now." He promises and then yanks Shane's underwear down, exposing his hard, leaking cock. Ilya immediately starts showing Shane just how un-neglected he is and only minutes later Shane is gasping Ilya's name reverently as he falls apart for him. With one last soft kiss to the tip of Shane's cock, Ilya carefully places Shane's underwear back in place before sliding up to kiss Shane softly on the lips. He's still breathing hard and his eyes are closed, obviously exhausted which is no surprise after the game they had tonight against Florida. "Just give me a minute and I'll take care of you." Shane mumbles sleepily and Ilya can't help but kiss him softly. "Is okay. Just sleep, Любимый." Ilya tells him. Shane squints his eyes open. "I swear if you're just trying to get me to fall asleep so you can watch stupid videos all night, I'm not going to have sex with you ever again." Ilya can't help but laugh. He had no plans of doing that but he can't stop himself from teasing Shane. "Lies. You would not last more than 12 hours without my cock." Shane narrows his eyes, "Of course I would. Do you not remember how you ghosted me for 6 months after the first time we had sex? I can last without it for more than 12 hours." He teases, but the words still hit Ilya right in the heart. He hates that he did that to Shane. He opens his mouth to apologize again for doing that when Shane stops him with a searing kiss banishing the words from his mouth. "Things are different now. You would not last 12 hours." Ilya says when he pulls away still arguing his point. Shane rolls his eyes, "Yeah, well neither could you!" He argues. "I am not the one who threatened to withhold sex." Ilya replies. "I would never do that to you." He adds and Shane's face fills with guilt. Ilya kisses him, not wanting him to feel guilty, especially when they both know Shane's threat was never going to last. "Besides, I wasn't going to touch my phone for the rest of the night. Only you as we fall asleep." Ilya whispers against Shane's lips. "You're still as hard as a rock, Ilya. Let me take care of you." Shane pulls away to look into Ilya's eyes. "Please." He adds and Ilya can't say no to him. Why would he, when he's looking at him the way he is and saying such pretty words. "Okay." He concedes and the next thing he knows Shane is pushing him onto his back and kissing down his body determined to make Ilya forget all about that stupid clock app that Shane is beginning to really hate. "Okay, I like it...Picasso!" Ilya shouts as he jumps on Troy and Shane in celebration of Troy's goal. Troy laughs and shakes his head at Ilya, while Shane looks at him like he's lost his mind. "What did you just say?" Shane asks as they skate toward the bench to give high fives to their teammates. Ilya smiles wide, "It's from a video I saw earlier today on TikTok." He explains and Shane sighs and rolls his eyes in annoyance. "I don't get it." Shane grumbles. "It’s a video of people decorating a car for an art project, and a guy walking by says, ‘Okay, I like it…Picasso!’” Ilya explains and Shane furrows his brows. "What the fuck kind of videos

“You’re sick,” says Shane, albeit shakily because he isn’t sure about this. He isn’t sure about them, or what they are. He doesn’t know if he’s allowed to care or worry because he doesn’t know what to call them. There is no routine or rules. All he knows is he probably shouldn’t be calling the captain of another team, especially not in the locker room. He shuts his locker and grabs his bag. “You are obvious. Did you call me to say obvious things, like sky is blue? Or Montreal sucks. Or that you cry when you come?” It sounds like he’s smiling. Shane’s stomach swoops, tripping over itself in a swell of affection. He rubs his hand over his face, feeling disoriented by the flood of conflicting emotions. “Fuck you,” Shane snaps, habitually. or: ilya always texts shane before they play against each other, but today he doesn’t. shane, and all spectating eyes, can tell someone is off with boston’s captain.

“It’s one of your superstitions, right?” Hayden asked. “Like my hat. It’s your good luck shirt.” Shane felt a chill run down his spine. He hadn’t thought anyone would notice. In truth, he’d barely noticed himself. It wasn’t something he was actively doing. It wasn’t like his weight circuit or his diet or his night routine. It wasn’t meditation or yoga or cross-training. Those were all things he did with meticulous, painstaking purpose. This was just… this was something else. This wasn’t thought driven. If he was being honest, it barely had to do with hockey. It maybe was one of the only things in his life that didn’t have to do with hockey. If he was stressed, he wore the shirt and it made him feel a little bit better. It just so happened that most of the time he was stressed about something to do with hockey. That was it. It was just a feeling. A feeling of calm that came from Ilya Rozanov’s shirt. "It is our first game of the season against them. But it is their first against us too. They may have won cups, may have been higher in the ranking. But they are not the same. They are weak. They are missing what made them special, who made them important." Eva was Ilya and Shane’s miracle child, born prematurely in the summer of their third season together on the Centaurs. The moment they laid eyes on her in the NICU of The Ottawa Hospital was the moment they both felt their life truly had purpose. Eva was smaller than the other babies but already had a head of soft blonde curls. Her tiny hands would grip Shane’s fingers as Ilya sang Russian lullabies, their favorite pastime, and her big blue eyes would marvel at the world around her. She was kind and sweet and truly an angel, which is what made it so, so terrifying when she told them at 5 years old that she wanted to play hockey like papa and daddy. - A 5+1 of Ilya and Shane’s life as parents, through the lens of their daughter’s experiences with hockey.

It was a well-known fact in the hockey world that Shane Hollander was competitive. After all, you didn’t win Rookie of the Year and be hailed as the player of a generation without some amount of ambition, drive, and competitive edge. However, Ilya Rozanov wasn’t sure if the world understood just how competitive Shane Hollander could really be. Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov, star players and fiancés of the Ottawa Centaurs, have shared both love and triumph on and off the ice, including two Stanley Cup victories. But when a devastating hit leaves Shane with partial amnesia, he forgets only Ilya—the man he once loved and imagined a future with. The world knows them as Ilya Rozanov and Shane Hollander—superstars, champions, captains. Ottawa’s golden boys. Two men who changed the shape of a franchise and, without ever meaning to, shifted the culture of the league simply by loving each other openly. They play on the Ottawa Centaurs, share a line, share a home, share a future. Their engagement had broken the internet for a solid forty-eight hours—rings flashing during warmups, a quiet kiss caught by a long lens, Shane’s hand resting so naturally at Ilya’s back it felt like it had always belonged there. There are haters. There always are. But they are drowned out by the roar of fans who chant their names together, by teammates who treat their relationship as the most normal thing in the world, by families who sit side by side in the stands wearing matching jerseys. Together, they have won two Stanley Cups. Together, they have bled for this sport. And together, they understand the risk. Hockey is fast. Hockey is violent. Hockey does not care who you love. They’ve always known that. Ilya learned it first in April of 2014. Back then, Shane was playing against Boston. A hard hit—late, ugly, the kind that makes the arena go silent before anyone even realizes why. Shane went down wrong, helmet snapping back, body going slack as he hit the ice. Ilya had been on the bench. He remembers standing up too fast. The way his vision tunneled. The way his heart stopped beating—not metaphorically, not poetically, but truly, painfully still—as Shane didn’t move. He remembers gripping the boards so hard his knuckles went white. Remembered screaming Shane’s name without realizing he was doing it. Remembered the medical staff swarming, remembered the stretcher, remembered not breathing again until he saw Shane’s chest rise in the tunnel. After that, every hit carried a ghost. Every time Shane stayed down a second too long, Ilya felt 2014 claw its way up his spine. They talked about it, quietly, late at night. About the risks. About concussions and broken bones and the way the game takes pieces of you and never gives them back. They promised each other honesty. They promised each other presence. They promised that no matter what—no matter the cameras, the league, the rules—they would choose each other first. That promise is tested again in 2017. It happens fast. Too fast. The puck is dumped deep, Shane chasing hard, skates digging in. There’s a collision near the boards—shoulder to shoulder, brutal but clean—and then something goes wrong. Shane’s edge catches. His head snaps back. He goes down. And this time… he doesn’t move. The arena goes deathly quiet in that way every hockey fan recognizes instantly. No cheering. No booing. Just the sharp scrape of skates slowing, players looking around, realizing something is wrong. Ilya sees it from center ice. Sees Shane’s body twisted unnaturally. Sees his stick slip from his fingers. Sees the stillness. The past slams into him like a freight train. But this time— This time Ilya doesn’t freeze. He doesn’t stay back. He doesn’t wait for officials. He doesn’t care about protocol or penalties or the watching eyes of thousands of fans and millions more at home. His fiancé is unmoving. Ilya drops his gloves and sprints. “ILYA—!” someone shouts, maybe a ref, maybe a teammate. He doesn’t hear it. He drops to his knees beside Shane, hands shaking as he cups his helmeted face. “Shane. Shane—hey, love, look at me. Please. Please.” His voice cracks on the last word.

Ilya knows that, between him and Shane, he's the more affectionate of the two. He's not sure if it's because he's from Europe, where everyone greets each other with a hug and a kiss on the cheek, or if it's because he grew up so starved for love and affection that he can't do anything except show Shane how much he loves him at any chance that he has. So, yes, he knows that he's the one most likely to kiss Shane on the cheek when he skates by him at practice or come up behind Shane when he's cooking dinner just to wrap his arms around him or fall on top of Shane while he's reading on the couch, desperate to have his skin touching Shane's. But, Shane… Shane loves Ilya differently. It's quieter. More intentional. — Or, five times that Shane loved Ilya in his quiet way, and one time that he loved Ilya loudly.
