With Eleanor on Ilya’s shoulders, he skates over to Shane. “Delivery,” he says, removing Eleanor from his shoulders and placing her on the boards. Her skates clack against the plastic. “One little girl for you.” Shane leans forward and kisses her on the cheek. “You are such a good skater,” he says, unclipping her helmet and brushing her hair off of her forehead. “You’re better than Papa is.” “Better than Daddy, too,” Ilya says with a smirk __________________ Shane and Ilya attend their first Centaurs Family Day with their daughter.

Come Back (I Still Need You) by velminort
Heated Rivalry (TV), Game Changers Series - Rachel Reid
2026-01-13
After the miracle recovery, Ilya Rozanov and Shane Hollander are back together. One day, Shane gets a phonecall from Ilya's doctor. She asks Shane to come in immediately, alone. He is scared shitless. Turns out, there is no need to be because Captain Rozanov is clearly back in the game. And he can skate again. *** This is a part of my on-going "Hold On (I Still Want You)" series and cannot really be read as stand-alone, therefore I strongly recommend getting the context from the first fic!

Then the sound comes. It isn’t like the other creaks. It’s sharper. Deeper. Wrong. Shane feels it before he understands it, a sudden vibration beneath his feet, a jolt straight through his bones. He looks up, mouth already forming Ilya’s name. The ice fractures under Ilya in a split second. There’s a crack like a gunshot, the surface splintering outward, and then Ilya is gone. Swallowed by black water that surges violently up through the hole. “Ilya!” Shane’s skates scrape uselessly as he tries to stop, heart slamming so hard it knocks the air from his lungs. He drops to his knees a few meters back, terrified to get closer, terrified not to. Steam curls up from the water like breath in the freezing air. Time breaks. One second. Two. Three. Nothing. - Shane and Ilya enjoy their Christmas break at Shane's cottage, until Ilya falls through the ice as they skate on the lake.
