“You're married?” Doctor Pike asks.
“Only recently,” Shane says, “but we were together for eight years before getting married.” He smiles, and thinking about his husband provides a little bit of solace amidst thinking about his lost wedding band.
“You definitely came to work with it?”
“Definitely.” Shane murmurs. “I keep it on. My husband works nights in the ER, so we’re like ships passing in the night. I keep it on since we don't get to see each other often.” His brow furrows, heart sinking in his chest a little at his lost wedding band.
“Husband? In the ER?”
Or:
Shane loses his wedding band and the neurology department discovers Dr Shane Hollander has a husband... who works in the hospital's ER. Now they're determined to uncover the identity of his mysterious husband.- Language:

Ilya is recovering after the brain surgery but recovery rerely is a straight line. And Ilya, done with hospitals, is up to mischief. Fortunately, Shane is there to make sure Ilya stays alive. *** This is set between "Hold On (I Still Want You)" and "Come Back (I Still Need You)" and focuses on Ilya's recovery after the brain surgery he underwent. It can be read as stand-alone but I think it's probably best to read at least first part of my series to get some context!

After the miracle recovery, Ilya Rozanov and Shane Hollander are back together. One day, Shane gets a phonecall from Ilya's doctor. She asks Shane to come in immediately, alone. He is scared shitless. Turns out, there is no need to be because Captain Rozanov is clearly back in the game. And he can skate again. *** This is a part of my on-going "Hold On (I Still Want You)" series and cannot really be read as stand-alone, therefore I strongly recommend getting the context from the first fic!

Instead of Shane, it is Ilya who suffers a concussion during the Boston-Montreal game in April 2017. Dazed and agitated, Ilya briefly starts speaking and responding only in Russian and the medics can’t calm him down. Luckily, Shane started studying Russian after Ilya spoke to him in Russian on the phone from Moscow. For no particular reason. Certainly not because he’s fallen in love with Ilya Rozanov.
In Montreal with lingering concussion symptoms, Ilya is advised not to fly home for a few days, and the hospital won’t release him without assurances that he has someone to stay with him until his symptoms improve. Luckily, Shane conveniently has a condo in Montreal no one knows about and a few days before he has to travel again.
But Ilya’s symptoms don’t resolve after a few days. Which is okay; Shane can handle it. He can take care of Ilya, study Russian, lead his team into the playoffs, and keep Ilya’s continued presence in Montreal a secret. He can do everything, no problem. He is Shane Hollander after all.
