  1. “So why exactly aren’t you and Kip back together?”

What might just be a casual question in Eric’s mind, Scott would like to classify as psychological warfare on his sanity. Because the thing is, he has been asking himself that over and over again lately.

    -
Set after blueberry season – with some of the obstacles removed, Scott and Kip start finding their way back together.

  2. “Ilya,” Shane says warningly, but he’s too late as the grin unfurls across Ilya’s face. “I said no laughing,” he snaps, glaring at him. “You’re laughing.”

Ilya shakes his head. “Is not at you, sweetheart,” he says, unable and unwilling to stop his beaming. “I am just—happy. To share this with you.” He meets Shane’s eyes. “You are—singularity,” he says, careful with his pronunciation. “My favorite.”

Shane goes red so fast, Ilya worries about his heart for a second.

“I just want to know you,” Shane murmurs, closing his eyes when Ilya lifts his hand up and strokes through his hair. “I miss you when you aren't around, and I want to carry the little bits of you I can.”

OR: Shane has some questions. Ilya always seems to have an answer. (And one time, Ilya has a question, too.)

  4. “Okay,” Ilya announces, clapping his hands as he steps into the one room in the house Shane’s designer wasn’t allowed to touch. “Your father is abandoning us today. What do you want to do, dochen’ka?” From a tangle of hot pink sheets and butterfly-shaped pillows, his eight-year-old daughter looks up at him with more sass than any one person should be allowed to hold. “Dad has work,” Nina points out, just as Shane yells from the kitchen, “I am not abandoning you! I am going to my job!” -OR- Ilya and his daughter go to the Science Museum and learn that Ilya might be a little bit scared of butterflies.

  5. + One Time They All Had His Back Set after the events of The Long Game. Ilya Rozanov was well known to be a menace. He liked living loud and never shied away from a fight. After Shane's transfer to the Ottawa Centaurs he settled in some ways, in others he got infinitely worse. One thing they hadn't accounted for was how disgustingly in love with his husband Ilya was. Ilya was not going to let them forget.

  6. “Shane was his constant. His safety net. Because he knew that no matter how unpredictable his life at home got, he would always have Shane, ready to comfort him, ready to be whatever it was that Ilya needed.” Or Ilya needs Shane after his father’s death but doesn’t want to be a burden. But it’s okay because Shane knows exactly what Ilya needs. Loosely based on the song “I don’t like darkness” by Chase Atlantic.

He laid down on the ground next to the snow angles they had made earlier and looked up at the sky. The sunset was barely visible behind the thick gray clouds piling up. Ilya laid down right next to him, sighing loudly. “Was very fun!” Ilya muttered into the silence, after some minutes of them just laying there watching their puffs of breaths. “As a child, I never really had this..., like silly snow fights, building snowmen. So, thank you,” Ilya admitted barely audible. But Shane had heard him. "I love you,” he simply whispered back, his heart throbbing slightly. The I love you was not able to convey all the love Shane had for Ilya; no word would ever be enough to express what he felt for the man. “I love you more.” OR domestic Hollanov on a snowy day at their cottage: having a snowball fight, buidling each other as a snowman and afterwards some warm-up activitiy ;)

  10. Last night, Ilya dreamed Shane served him divorce papers. They were making dinner when suddenly Shane pulled them out of the microwave and thrust them into Ilya’s hand. This isn’t working, he said. I’m divorcing you. No negotiations.

And look: of course Ilya understands that it was just a dream. The official divorce petition was a stack of sticky notes. Shane had faintly green skin and, Ilya is pretty sure, a third eye next to his left nipple. It obviously wasn’t real.

    But.

  11. He'd still not seen them kiss or touch in any way that signified love or affection, despite their now very public relationship and the elephant-in-the-room matching gold rings. No, instead, he’d seen Hollander push Rozanov away and tell him to 'fuck off'. The next half an hour did nothing to lessen his view that they do not seem very compatible. They barely touch. Every time Rozanov moved to touch his husband, Hollander moved away, looking awkward. Instead, they bickered and threw chirps at one another like they were still bitter rivals on the ice. Then, slowly but surely, Shane Hollander got drunk. The second the third vodka passed Shane's lips, Wyatt Hayes had let out a long-suffering sigh and said, "Here they go." Scott frowned, not understanding. "What do you mean?" Boodram chuckled. “Oh, you’ll see.” Scott and Carter exchanged a glance as if to say ‘what the fuck?’. (scott doesn't understand how hollander and rozanov work. one night in his bar is enough for him to realise that he's an idiot)

  13. Harris had an unofficial poll on a whiteboard in the media team’s office: Team Hollander vs Team Rozanov; something that apparently was never allowed to be revealed to the general public according to Harris’s strong warning the first time Wyatt had seen it. He had promptly and dramatically signed his name under Team Hollander, though he had to write small in the little space left. He had obviously landed up at the best team possible - at least when it came to being a fan of Shane Hollander. Then Ilya Rozanov was traded to Ottawa. Suddenly, Shane Hollander went from a Hockey God, whose presence Wyatt was graced with a few times a year, to the most talked about figure in the Centaurs locker room. Ilya Rozanov was not Shane Hollander, but he might as well be the second best thing. Who else knew Shane Hollander better than his rival? Here was a live, captive source of information. A practical Shane Hollander encyclopaedia. Or The Ottawa Centaurs accidentally end up being the Shane Hollander Unofficial Fan Club. And now, with Ilya on the team, Shane Hollander is always there! Wow!

  15. Ilya’s Instagram feed has always been a love letter to Shane, since they became them, moments in time that will always lead to a memory for him. It’s the best Ilya can do, considering their circumstances, but it’s the one way he can tell the world (in secret, stolen moments, random things that only mean something to exactly two people) that he’s head- over-heels in love with Shane Hollander. The FanMail video comes out in March, and it’s like Ilya realizes he can be in love out loud, even during the soft moments. The world is not ready. AKA: Five times Ilya posts the small moments, and one time he loves out loud.

It’s not a big deal. Shane gets a new watch from his Rolex sponsorship. They want him to promote it for Valentine’s Day. It’s a fine watch. They always are. It has a second face, ticking away inside the larger one. He can set it to a different timezone, so he always knows what time it is somewhere else. He sets it a lot nowadays. … Or - Five times Hayden notices something is up with Shane’s fancy watch, and one time he knows better.

  20. Hayden doesn’t know how his life had come to this point, standing in front of his oven watching four fillets of salmon cook as he waits for Ilya fucking Rozanov to enter his house. “I can’t fucking do this,” he mutters to the empty kitchen, staring at the tray of asparagus and baby potatoes on the countertop, hoping they have an answer to all of his current issues. They do not. --- Or Hayden promised he’d try his best and somehow that meant getting roped into having another dinner with Ilya Rozanov of all people.
