  1. Three years after retiring together, Shane and Ilya are back at each other’s throats. The sticks have been traded for whistles and the peace of retirement has been replaced by the chaos of a three-year-old, but some things never change. In hockey, ice time is sacred, and neither man is backing down. "Lower your center of gravity, Haas," Shane called out, his voice echoing. "If you’re top- heavy, the defense is going to eat you alive in the corner." Luca Haas panted, elbows braced on his knees as he wheezed. "Fatherhood has been good for you, yes? You’ve really got the 'disappointed dad' look down. I feel like you’re going to put me in time out and take away my iPad." Shane grinned. Three years into retirement, he still missed playing with teammates like Luca, but coaching kept the fire lit and he had plenty of excitement in his life to keep him busy. "Keep talking and you’re grounded." The heavy double doors at the end of the rink swung open. Shane looked up, his expression softening instantly. Ilya strode toward the ice, looking every bit the high-fashion retired superstar in a long wool coat. Tugging at his arm, was a three-year-old. "Yarinushka, slow down! You will trip," Ilya called out. Yarina Ilyinichna Hollander-Rozanova was a vision in a custom red Ottawa Charge jersey, the nameplate on her back spanning nearly the entire width of her tiny shoulders. "Daddy!" Rina chirped, her eyes wide at the ice. Shane skated to the gate, leaning over it as Rina scrambled into his arms for a messy, cold- cheeked kiss. "Hey, bunny. What are you doing here?" He looked up at Ilya, noticing the flash of crimson on his husband’s hand as he adjusted Rina’s hair. "You went with red? Little on the nose isn’t it?" "She insisted," Ilya said, holding up his hands with a shrug. Red shimmered on his nails, identical to the tiny fingers Rina was currently wiggling at Shane. "Is important to look good for first day." Haas skated over, breathing hard. "Hey, Little Hollanov! You coming to help me with my backhand? Your dad is being mean to me." "Luca!" Ilya greeted him with a grin. He scooped Rina up and, before Shane could protest, handed the toddler over the gate directly into Haas’s arms. "Here. Practice lifting the cup. Is very important you do not drop it. Very embarrassing." Shane blinked. "Whoa, wait… why isn't she with Mom and Dad?" “Yuna’s car made wolf bird noise." Ilya said, waving a hand dismissively. “They are at mechanic shop." "Okay... so why didn't you drop her off there?" Ilya shrugged, checking his cuticles. "No time. Nail appointment ran long. Cannot be late for first day." "You brought a toddler to a practice because of a manicure?" Shane hissed, though he was fighting a smile. "Besides," Ilya added, leaning over the railing. "I think my team will like it. She is like cute mascot. Much better than scary, naked man-horse. Good for morale." Shane groaned, rubbing his temples. "That’s incredibly sexist, Ilya. Your players are professionals. They don’t want to babysit a child just because they’re—" Shane stopped. He followed Ilya’s pointed gaze toward the goalpost at the far end of the rink. A group of the league's toughest enforcers and fastest wingers had abandoned their drills. Hayes, was kneeling on the ice, trying to fit his massive, terrifyingly painted goalie mask over Rina’s head. She stood there, dwarfed by the the giant men around her, looking exactly like Boo surrounded by her colorful monsters. She let out a high-pitched giggle, and the six-foot-four enforcers collectively cooed like they were looking at a kitten. "See?" Ilya purred. "Is not sexist. Good for everyone’s morale." Then Ilya’s face shifted from teasing to serious. "Speaking of late, lyubimiy... you are cutting into our time. Shoo. Go away. Get your stinky boys off my ice." Shane stood up straight. "The Centaurs have the ice until 11:00. You’re supposed to start in the training room." "I want team meeting here before we train," Ilya insisted, gesturing to the ice. "I have very inspiring speech for first day. I need the... the weight. The... gravity." He snapped his fingers. "Gravitas?" Shane supplied. "Yes! Gravitas," Ilya nodded. "I need ice for gravitas. You cannot give speech about glory on a carpet, Sheniuchka. It feels cheap." Shane. "What’s the deadlock here, boys?" Wiebe walked up behind Ilya with a whistle between his teeth. He looked from his assistant coach’s stubborn stance to Ilya’s defiant chin. "He's trying to kick us off the ice early," Shane complained. "Now who is being sexist, hmm?" Ilya countered. “You think you deserve ice just because you are male team?” Weibe shook his head in exasperation. "Alright…listen, you two are gonna have to learn to share. Now that the Charge are playing at the stadium and sharing this facility, this rink belongs to all of us.”

“Yuna,” his mom said, grabbing Ilya’s hand, which was still outstretched. She looked up at the smiling man. “Sorry, I just- I didn’t know Shane had a, uh, a boyfriend.” That somehow got Shane’s focus back again. Air flew back into his lungs as he opened his mouth. Everything came out louder than intended. Was he screaming? He might be. Maybe not? Who knew. Not him, that was for sure. His brain was fried. “No, no, no. Mom, it’s not, we’re not. Rozanov is not my boyfriend!” “Yet,” Ilya filled in. And Shane stopped breathing again. -------- College Shane brings a hook up to his parents house. Shane knows something is wrong before the game even ends—his Heat rising fast and uncontrollable. Ilya gets him home just in time, knots him deep, and refuses to let him face it alone. The roar of the crowd faded as Shane Hollander skated off the ice. The ache in his muscles was nothing compared to the heat building beneath his skin. He had been off tonight— missing shots he could normally make with his eyes closed. His movements felt sluggish, unfocused, his body refusing to respond like it usually did. He could feel Ilya’s gaze on him before he even looked up, that intense blue stare sharp and searching. “You alright, Shane?” Ilya asked, skating up beside him. Shane forced a smile, stiff and brittle. “Yeah. Just… off tonight. Bad luck, I guess.” It was a lie, and they both knew it. The Centaurs still won, but the victory felt hollow. As soon as the buzzer sounded, Shane peeled away and headed for the locker room, desperate to escape Ilya’s attention. The noise, the lights, the closeness of too many bodies—it pressed in on him. He showered quickly. Hot water did nothing to ease the burn coiling tighter inside him. By the time he dressed, his hands were shaking. He kept his head down, avoided eye contact, focused on breathing through the growing discomfort. He was already in the passenger seat when Ilya finally appeared, damp hair pushed back, concern on his face. Ilya slid in beside him, the door shutting with a heavy thud. The familiar scent of his cologne filled the car, grounding and overwhelming. “Shane, what the fuck is going on?” Ilya’s voice was low, edged with steel. Shane swallowed hard. The truth spilled out before he could stop it. “I think… I think my Heat is starting soon.” The words hung between them. “Shit,” Ilya breathed. He turned the key, the engine roaring to life. “We need to get you home.” When the first cramp hit, it wasn’t just pain—it was his body pulling inward, desperate, needy, demanding. His cock twitched uselessly in his pants, half-hard and oversensitive, while slick soaked his underwear. “Ilya—” A hand landed on his thigh, warm and steady. “Sweetheart, I’m so sorry. I’m driving as fast as I can.” The heat surged, relentless. Shane shifted, slick gathering where he couldn’t ignore it. Every bump in the road sent spikes of sensation through him. He whimpered, squirming, trying to find a comfortable position. There was none. The pressure built like a tide threatening to drown him. He broke. His hand slid down, rubbing himself through his pants, desperate for any relief. Friction was a small mercy, a brief distraction from the fire inside him. He arched his back, breath ragged. “Ilya… I need you, please.” Ilya didn’t hesitate. The car sped up, the world outside blurring as Shane’s breathing grew shallow. He could feel the heat radiating off him, thick and real. At home, Ilya killed the engine and helped him out of the car. Shane barely made it inside before collapsing against him, burying his face in Ilya’s neck. “Ilya,” he whimpered. “It hurts so bad.” “It’s alright, sweetheart,” Ilya murmured. “I’ll give you what you need.” He scooped Shane up in his arms, carrying him bridal style. Shane clung to him, trembling. Upstairs, he laid him on the bed. Clothes were stripped away quickly, every touch paired with soft kisses and whispered praise. “So beautiful,” Ilya murmured, over and over. He ran a hand through Shane’s hair, fingers tangling in the damp strands, kissing his forehead, cheeks, neck—each touch setting off new heat. Shane moaned, hips bucking. He was already leaking onto the sheets, need pouring out uncontrollably. He reached for Ilya, fingers clawing at his back. Ilya’s fingers brushed lower. He traced Shane’s hip, sending shivers down him. He dipped a finger into Shane’s slick, and Shane gasped. “Fuck,” he breathed. “Sweetheart, you’re leaking so much. This is all for me, isn’t it?” Shane nodded, unable to speak. He reached for Ilya, pulling him closer. He needed him, craved him. Ilya leaned down, kissing him deeply. He pulled back, eyes blazing with desire that matched Shane’s. “Taste yourself, Hollander.” Shane obeyed, coating his fingers with his own slick, bringing them to his mouth, sucking greedily. The taste was intoxicating, a mix of arousal and desperation. He closed his eyes, savoring it. “So fucking good for me,” Ilya rasped. He moved to the bedroom drawer, returning with nipple clamps and a dildo. Shane’s eyes widened, a mix of fear and excitement. He knew

  13. Hayden cuts himself off at the sound of something he hears so rarely, he’s almost sure he’s imagining it. He scans the room, looking for the source, and sure enough, his eyes land on his target. There, nestled in between two of his teammates on the couch, is Shane Hollander. Laughing. Out loud. Audibly. Like, he’s actually fucking laughing, not the fake laughs he forces out to make other people more comfortable. In fact, he’s laughing so hard, he looks like he might cry, and Hayden would be delighted by the sight of it if he weren’t so fucking concerned. Shane Hollander doesn’t laugh at parties. Shane Hollander barely laughs when he’s actually happy, and he’s never happy at parties. So what gives? Or: Shane Hollander accidentally gets very high. That's it, that's the fic.

  19. Then Ilya sighed. Shane looked him up and down once in quick succession. He couldn’t quite read his expression. “What?” “I think I am…” Ilya pursed his lips “...jealous?” “You’re jealous?” Shane raised his eyebrows. “Of an inanimate object?” “What is…” “It means like,” he sighed, grateful to get the attention shifted off himself, if only for a second, “it’s just a thing.” “Then why so many words when you could just say thing?” Ilya’s accent clipped over the digraph as he rushed to the end of the sentence. “It’s just two words. And it’s about specifying-” “Anyway,” Ilya shook his head, deflecting Shane’s rambling. “Yes. I am jealous of the thing.” “You’re ridiculous.”
