Shane and Rozanov don’t usually work together. In fact, they never do. They work on different client teams, since there’s no need for more than one person at their level in the squad. They’re simply too good. Quite frankly, they cost too much. So when Scott says that he wants them both to drop whatever they’re working on, because he has this client proposal that’s due on Friday — literally five days from now, Shane’s counted — it’s unprecedented. Shane has a million reasons why this is a bad idea, waiting on the tip of his tongue. First of all, he’s not sure he actually can work with Rozanov. He feels panicked at the thought, can feel his tie getting tighter around his neck, threatening to close off his supply of oxygen at any moment.
