“I thought you were okay with this. With us. I know…” Shane trails off
“Of course I’m not okay with this - he’s fucking hurting you Shane.” Yuna takes the opportunity to finally say it outright. She doesn’t hide the vitriol in her tone.
“Wha-” Shane’s eyes get wide. Something like comprehension crosses his face. His eyes dart down to the bruise on his wrist. “Oh.” If possible, his face gets redder still. Yuna frowns. “No, mom, he’s not- uh- hurting me. Like that.”
What? “Did somebody else give you that bruise then?” Yuna feels a bit hysterical. Has Rozanov Stockholm Syndromed her son?
“No,” Shane grits out, “it was, uh, Ilya. It was just. You know. Like. Um.”
And suddenly Yuna understands. She understands all too well. She understands more than she had ever wanted to about her son.

A clearing of the throat, and Ilya looked away from the doorway, meeting David's gaze. He tried a smile that sat awkwardly on his lips, more grimace than not, and David did the same. "Rozanov," he started, and Ilya's grimace deepened. "Ilya." "Right, sorry," David said uncomfortably. _____ What Ilya and David talked about while Shane and Yuna were outside.

He’s almost at his own door when the muffled sound of his own name catches his attention. “ —like an idiot. Scott Hunter is right next door.” Scott pauses, blinking. He then finds himself unconsciously stepping towards the door his name was uttered behind— before he abruptly freezes, eyes locking on the room number. It’s the room directly next to his own. The one Rozanov had walked out of just this morning. But that voice… it’s vaguely familiar, and it certainly doesn’t belong to Rozanov. Or: Scott Hunter has the unfortunate experience of rooming next to Ilya Rozanov at the 2011 All-Stars.
