"No m'not," Shane said, somehow pressing his face even more into Ilya's body. "All I ever did was play hockey. Now, I don't know what I'm gonna do. I hope we have a baby soon." The car went quiet at that. When Shane looked up, Ilya was looking out the window, jaw set. "S' something wrong?" Shane asked. He ran his fingertips along the warm skin of Ilya's forearm. Ilya turned back to face him, expression softened. Whatever pensiveness had taken hold of him was gone. "No. Everything is perfect." After sixteen seasons of professional hockey, Shane Hollander retires from the NHL in the interest of starting a family with his loving husband. It's maybe a little earlier than he would've liked, but with his thirty-five year old knees beginning to protest, it makes sense. He's happy. He and Ilya have been working towards this for nearly a decade. He's also terrified, wondering if this is the biggest mistake of his life, and thinking that maybe he should take it all back. But mostly, he's happy.

The video returns to the set, with the camera on Harris, Shane, and Ilya again. Harris flips to the next question card. Harris: Who expressed interest in the other first? Shane and Ilya each raise the other's shoe. Harris: Ooooo! You disagree! Ilya: Shane. We both know that it was you. Shane: You were showing off! On purpose! You wanted me to react. Ilya: If that helps you sleep at night. Harris: Care to tell the story? Shane and Ilya speak over each other. Shane: No way in hell. Ilya: After the cameras stop. Shane and Ilya, freshly married and days away from their first game together, agree to make a silly video as a couple for the Centaurs' social media.

Shane wasn't looking back at him. He assumed that Ilya would be paying attention to the game, not its spectators. Sofia was sat upright in his lap. He was moving her back and forth to follow the puck. Ilya could see his mouth moving, even at this distance- no doubt he was explaining the rules to her infant ears. Hockey would be her first language. Sofia was more interested in the person holding her than the game. She tipped her little head back, back, back until she was looking up at her dad. The two of them smiled, and then Shane leaned down ever so slightly. He was brushing their noses together in the softest little nuzzle Ilya had ever seen. When he was done, Shane pressed a kiss onto her forehead. At twenty-three, Shane Hollander was convinced that life after hockey would be empty. He couldn't imagine a world where he'd be completely happy without the focus and drive that came with playing a professional sport. By thirty-seven, Shane was convinced that life after hockey was better. Who needed skates and sticks when your daughter was looking up at you with such a perfect, tiny smile, and your husband was winning games for all three of you?

Game Changers Series - Rachel Reid

Canada had given him his life as he knew it, but it had never felt one hundred percent comfortable, either. He missed Russia sometimes, but it didn’t have the thing that mattered most. Ilya had exactly one home, and it was this: his face pressed into a smooth chest, his head tucked under a strong jaw, with freckled arms wrapped around him and delicate fingers combing through his hair. Anywhere else was a temporary excursion. A treatise on second (and third) languages, homesickness, acceptance, Shane's struggle learning Russian, and the things people do when they care.

Shane and Ilya are both nominated for the MVP award their first year playing together. And Ilya has a plan to recreate another night in Vegas. “Thank you for helping me with the English.” Ilya said. Yuna handed the paper back to Ilya and cupped his cheek. “It really is beautiful. And I never would have guessed I would secretly hope Shane wouldn't win an award, but I also never expected to have a second son who deserved it just as much.” Ilya felt his throat tighten at the sincerity in her words. No matter how many times Yuna outwardly expressed her adoration of him, Ilya never stopped feeling overwhelmingly grateful for his mother in-law’s fierce love. He was about to respond when Shane came through the door of the Las Vegas suite they were sharing with Yuna and David. Ilya's heart skipped as it always did when he saw his husband. “Mom, did you just say you are hoping Ilya wins? What the heck?” Shane said. Hurt and anger flashed in his eyes. Ilya knew Shane loved that his parents saw Ilya as a second son, but Ilya could understand why it still might feel like a betrayal for Yuna not to want Shane to win. “Of course not honey. I was just telling Ilya that I will be happy tonight no matter what happens.” Shane looked unconvinced but moved on anyway. “Are you ready? Dad is waiting for us in the hallway. We don't want to be late to walk the red carpet.” —- Shane was excited to be back at the NHL awards. He didn't go last year, for obvious reasons, but this season had been more than he dared hoped for. The Centaurs accepted him with open arms, he fit on the line with Dillon and Haas, he and Ilya made up the highest scoring power play line in the league and they had won the goddamn Cup. Sure, the media was still getting used to his marriage and the first half of the season it was the only thing they were asked about in post-game interviews, but he'd proven himself. They’d proven themselves. They made it through the red carpet and now they were wandering down the hallway to the theater where the awards would start shortly. Shane’s mind flitted back to what he overheard his mom and Ilya talking about and he found himself so lost in thought that he didn't notice Ilya tell his parents to go find their seats without them. So when Ilya grabbed him and shoved him into a bathroom, it took Shane a minute to get his bearings. He looked over at his grinning husband waiting to see why he had been manhandled on their way to an award ceremony. “Well…” Ilya said. “Well what?” Shane responded, confusion etched in his face. “Well are you going to suck my dick?” Ilya responded, his crooked smile on full display as Shane realized what was happening. “Fuck you, why don't you suck mine?” Shane tried to spit the words at Ilya, the same way he did in a different bathroom ten years ago. But he was unable to hide his smile. “Maybe, ask nice” Ilya responded. “Please.” “You want me to get on my knees on the dirty bathroom floor and suck your dick, you're going to have to ask nicer than that.” “Please get on your knees and suck my dick. Please” he said. Breath hitching. Knowing where this was going, the blood was rushing to his dick. “No. I will not do anything to you in here. We will go back out there, and sit in our seats, and then go to the party. And then, when you have been waiting all night for it, you will come to my hotel room. And I will maybe do more than suck your dick.” Shane feigned outrage. “You're really going to leave me like this?” “Yes. For now. But I will make you a deal, if you win MVP tonight I will suck you, fuck you, whatever you want.” “And if you win?” “I'll let you know.“ —-- Shane was nervous as they got to the MVP award. It was very unusual for two players from the same team to both be nominated for that award. But, it was undeniable that the Centaurs were the best team this season and depending on who you ask, it was either because of Shane or Ilya. Shane had more goals, but Ilya had more assists and their overall points differential was only +2 to Ilya. The award was going to one of them if the voting was fair. But Crowell and the old guard were still homophobic assholes and Shane wouldn't be surprised if they gave it to someone else on principle. He wanted to win, as always, but as long as it was either him or Ilya, he would be happy. The announcer called out the winner - Ilya. He was excited for his husband but part of him was disappointed it was not him. He looked at his mom who was practically bursting with glee. Seriously? What the fuck is going on? He knew Yuna loved Ilya but he also knew she would always put Shane first. This was strange. He was pulled out of his thoughts by Ilya's voice as he started his acceptance speech. “Thank you for giving me, the best hockey player in the league, this award.” Shane rolled his eyes as the crowd chuckled. “Even though I am the best hockey player, there are a lot of people that helped me win this award. To the Centaurs owners and the team management, thank you for creating an inclusive environment that gives space to the players to excel at hockey and thrive as a team and as

Shane and Ilya host a Halloween party the first year that Shane is a Centaur. Just them being in love and hanging out with the team. “Hollander. You can't go as a hockey player, you are a hockey player.” Ilya said with an eye roll when he walked in on his husband getting dressed in their bathroom. “First of all, I can go as whatever I want. There are no rules to Halloween. Second of all, I am not a hockey player. I am going as Ilya Rozanov.” Shane smirked before their eyes met in the mirror and Shane's smirk morphed into a genuine smile. He grabbed the Boston jersey that Ilya was just now noticing draped over the chair for the vanity. It had Ilya's old number on it, but instead of Rozanov on the back it said “Second Best Center.” “Shane Hollanov! Are you making a joke?! I thought you were boring. And you are making a joke.” Ilya was giddy with excitement. He loved playful Shane. “No.” Shane gave Ilya's cheek a kiss. “No joke. Just me, going as my husband, the second best center in the league.” Ilya moved away from Shane. If he continued to make physical contact he would not be able to get dressed and the team was going to start arriving at their house for the party soon. He grabbed his own costume, this year he was going as a detective. He liked being known as perceptive. “We will see who is second best. I am on the first line, captain and leading the league in overall points.” “Yes, well I have been on this team for four months and I am already the leading goal scorer. So, we’ll see who is second best at the end of the season.” They grinned at each other. When Shane joined Ottawa, Ilya had worried that being on the same team would mean they would have less opportunities to compete. They fell in love through competing, and he loved when they got to play against each other. He didn't want to lose that. But, he had worried for nothing. Turns out, being on the same team meant even more chances to compete. They scrimmaged against each other several times a week and battled it out in cardio and weight training. In fact, it's a good thing they had been practicing keeping hockey and their relationship separate for more than ten years, because there might be even more tension between them now that they were competing for the same ice time. Being married had not changed either of their drives to be the best. After they both finished dressing, and made their way downstairs, Shane turned towards Ilya with a glimmer of mischief in his eyes. “What, you're not going to post our picture to Instagram? You're always trying to get me to take photos with you. But now that I am in this awesome costume suddenly you don't want to? Worried your fans will agree that you're second best?” Oh. Now it was on. Ilya took two pictures, one of them together, facing the camera and smiling sweetly. And one of the back of Shane's jersey. He almost didn't want to post it because Shane's skater’s ass looked too good and he wanted to keep it for himself. But, there was a contest to win. He posted both pictures to Instagram with the caption “Who is second best?” He put the phone away and kissed his husband. They would let the fans fight it out while they enjoyed the party. After everyone had arrived, Ilya found himself dancing in the middle of the makeshift dance floor - surrounded by beautiful women, and his teammates who were also beautiful. He was maybe a bit high. It felt a lot like last year, but this time when he saw his teammates dancing with their partners, he didn't feel alone. He glanced up at his husband who was chatting with Harris and waved him over. Shane smiled shyly, said something to Harris and walked towards Ilya. “Hi.” Shane said when he folded himself into Ilya's arms. “Hi,” Ilya replied as he wrapped Shane in tightly. “We have danced together more in the four months since our wedding than in the ten years before. I like it.” Shane grinned at Ilya. “You just like touching me.” “Is nice” Ilya said as his hands moved down to Shane's ass. Shane slapped his hand away. “Not here!” He hissed. “Shane. No one is watching. It's fine.” Ilya's eyes glimmered with playful heat. “Nope. No way. We are out but not that out.” “Fine. Fine.” “Do you want to get some air? Someone started the fire pit.” Shane said. Ilya nodded and Shane grabbed his hand to guid them outside. _ When they got to the outdoor seating area surrounding the fire pit Shane noticed that there weren't any seats left. Lisa stood up and moved into Wyatt's lap and Ilya took her spot. Ilya gestured for Shane to sit on his lap but Shane was not sure about this. They were out, and they held hands in public. But sitting on each other's laps? That was a lot of PDA. Like a lot. But, this was their team. The Centaurs had been nothing but supportive. And if Lisa and Wyatt could do it, why couldn't they? Indecision must have been evident on his face because Bood spoke. “Roz, your husband won't sit on your lap? He thinks he will crush you?” Ilya scoffed and looked at Shane with love in his warm eyes but that crooked smile that always meant trouble had made an appearance. “Hollander is so small. Claims to be 5’10, He's almost as short as Barrett.” “I am 5’10! And I am not small. You guys are the worst. Ilya, why don't you sit on my lap.”

Hayden's Holiday by QueerIntentions, taken_aback_by_Tuesdays
Game Changers Series - Rachel Reid
2024-12-25
Hayden and his family visit Ilya & Shane at their cottage. The dinging of the doorbell rang through the cottage. "Must be Hayden!" Shane said happily. Ilya sighed. "We could have had Harris and Chiron, but instead we have Hayden." He was a little wistful at the thought of two dogs to play with. They made their way downstairs, followed by Anya, barking happily. "The Pikes could only come the week before Labour Day," Shane reminded Ilya. "Troy and Harris can come anytime before training camp. You'll have your Chiron cuddles soon." The doorbell rang and rang. Someone must be leaning on it, Ilya thought, as he rushed a bit more to get to the door. The Pikes were weirdly impatient. He opened the door to a frantic-looking Jackie. That was surprising; from the times he had met her, she was usually calm and steady. "Where's the washroom?" Jackie asked, Amber on her hip, Jade and Ruby holding onto an elbow each. (Arthur hiding just behind.) "I'll show you," Shane offered, leading the pack of them off to a quick tour of the bathrooms of the house. (Just as well there were a number of them.) Hayden groaned, recalling Ilya's attention to the door. "Do you need the bathroom too?" Ilya asked. Though this was what Hayden usually sounded like. Hayden gave him a look. "I'm fine," Hayden managed in reasonable tones. "I can't believe I agreed to this," he muttered, heading back towards the car. "Would you like a hand with the luggage?" Ilya called after him. Hayden made a resigned shrug, which Ilya took as a 'yes, please help me.' He was looking forward to this visit (despite his complaints to Shane) and all the entertainment it would provide. Especially all the time with the kids. Following Hayden to the back of the minivan, he scooped up an armload of bags and carried them inside. (Anya helped by following on Ilya's heels.) Shane was waiting by the door, looking at him with a pleased smile. Ilya set down the bags in a heap in the living room and made a beeline for Shane. "So, you like it when I'm on my best behaviour?" Shane nodded and pulled Ilya close. Ilya pushed him against a wall and kissed him deeply. His ass felt amazing under his hands. He scooped him up and held him higher against the wall, as Shane wrapped his legs around him. "Ugh, my eyes!" Hayden said. "Seriously! I'm right here!!" Hayden must've come back inside again. Oh well, it's not like it was a surprise that Ilya would kiss his husband. Surely Hayden would get used to it. Ilya spent a little longer kissing Shane, until Hayden slammed the door, leaving again. God, Shane's hair was so lovely, silky black hair starting to hide his face, it was getting so long. Ilya ran a hand through Shane's hair, just enjoying it. "You guys are still at it?!" Ilya hadn't even noticed the door opening again. Shane was very distracting. Ilya pulled away from Shane and looked at Hayden. "When two people marry, it is because they love each other very much and like to do things like kiss. I'm sorry you haven't had experience with--" Hayden cut him off. "Obviously I've had experience! I'm married to Jackie, asshole!" Ilya pulled away from Shane and shrugged. Hayden did seem awfully uncomfortable with physical touch for someone who was happily married, four kids notwithstanding. (And really, all those kids meant was that they'd had sex at least four times. Wait, there were twins, so three times really. A fluke, even.) "Hayden!" Shane spoke up. "You promised! Ilya's been behaving so well and you're behaving like a dick!" From behind Shane's back, Ilya smirked at Hayden. This behaving well thing was hilarious. He'd definitely need to keep this up. "I'll just go grab some more things," Ilya said, and headed out the door. The trunk had been emptied out; there were just some things among the booster seats and carseat. Grabbing Chompy, a stuffed giraffe of unknown name, and a few dolls, Ilya headed back inside. He arrived just as Jackie came back in, trailing children. "Oh, Ilya," Jackie said. "You're such a help. Thanks for unloading our stuff for us." Hayden made a disbelieving noise behind him and started disagreeing with this. "Really, Hayden?" Jackie said. "Show a better example for the kids." Hayden looked up at Ilya. "Thanks," he said flatly. Ilya smiled. Hayden to tease, kids to play with, and Jackie to join in adult conversations with him and Shane. This would be a great week. Ilya and Shane woke up to the sound of a crash. Oh right, kids in the house. Ilya groaned and pulled Shane closer. He got a kiss, but then Shane slithered out of his arms and went to grab clothes. Apparently it was time to get up. They made their way downstairs and said good morning to everyone. "Who wants pancakes and tater tots?" Ilya asked, to a chorus of yeses. Shane made a face, but managed to keep his mouth shut. He was less stringent now about his diet, but still pickier than Ilya.
