On the eve of his thirty-fifth birthday, Shane Hollander falls asleep beside his husband and thinks about everything his own fear had cost them.
He wakes up ten years earlier. Twenty-five. No wedding ring. No Anya at the foot of the bed. No Ilya beside him.
He still remembers it all: the years of hiding, the loneliness Ilya carried alone in Ottawa, the breakdown that nearly took him, the pain that could have been prevented if Shane had just chosen him sooner.
He also remembers their happy ending.
This time, Shane wants to change the cost. He wants to love Ilya openly, before it breaks him. He wants to be the person Ilya needed when he was most vulnerable.
Or: Mysterious Time-Travel AU/Fix-it feat. bad-ass Shane Hollander. Plans to take down a homophobic hockey-league included.

Ilya; My Ilyusha by Anonymous

He could still feel it now, the warm-wet slide of Ilya's tongue as he licked a stripe from the sensitive skin on Shane's palm to the tip of his middle finger, shocking a laugh out of him. The head-rush of feeling how quickly his cock hardened against the warmth of Ilya's bare ass, Ilya's full weight bearing down on Shane's hips. The heat of the blush traveling from his cheeks all the way down to his chest in response to the smoulder in Ilya's eyes.
Мой любимый, this is excuse to put sunscreen on my naked body, yes?
Shane gnawed at the memories like a dog with a bone, allowed himself to get lost in them until he felt physically sick, at which point he realized that he needed to switch lanes to avoid hitting the fawn, still unmoving, still unblinking.

Ilya Rozanov's life takes an unexpected turn when a deadly plane crash in 2021 takes his life, right after a fight with his long-time partner, Shane Hollander. Though instead of the afterlife, Ilya is sent back to December 2008, just before his NHL career began, on the very day that he first met Shane. He finds himself in a familiar world, with knowledge of both the future and knowledge of the man he loves and the friends he holds dear. As Ilya navigates this new reality, he rebuilds his relationship with Shane, who is still finding his path in both hockey and his identity as a gay man. With their rivalry blossoming into a different experience than the one Ilya experienced the first time around, the two face challenges around acceptance, family pressures, and the struggles of being openly gay and lovers in the sports world. Throughout their journey, Ilya contemplates his first life, cherishes the present, and strives to alter the course of their futures (and the futures of their friends) for the better. Or, Ilya Rozanov discovers first hand what the butterfly effect is, and how it can drastically alter the future.
