Rozanov is not currently responsive, according to the commentators of that game."

A few seconds later, a news anchor’s voice grows to startling clarity. A clip plays of Rozanov shooting from the goal crease and making it into the net.
“...Montreal Metros to acquire center Ilya Rozanov from the Boston Raiders for the upcoming season. The two teams have sustained a bitter rivalry for years, and it has only worsened worsened with Hollander and Rozanov’s participation. All of this makes the trade an unlikely one; however, it seems to be just the right time for the Metros to snag a star like Rozanov. After many lackluster performances from the Metros these past few months, it only makes sense…”
The anchor continues as a clip of Rozanov from a post-game interview last year plays—he’s shirtless and sweaty, smirking into the camera. And then he does that…that wink. Shane just stares up at the screen, dumbfounded. He’s not listening to the details anymore, but the words echo in his head.
Metros to acquire Ilya Rozanov…
His team to acquire Rozanov.
“This is bullshit,” he mutters, turning and trying not to stomp off like an upset child.OR: Ilya gets traded to Shane's team and Shane is not happy about it

Stick to your guns, Ilya thinks. Sex. With Hollander. That’s simple. Straightforward.
Except nothing about this night has been straightforward. The more time he spends with Hollander, the more he wants him - and not just the sex. He wants it all: the reading glasses, earnest ramblings, moral compulsions. The sweetness Hollander tries to hide. The way he holds back from almost everyone, even from himself, but never from Ilya.
***
or: After Vegas, Ilya knows he should end it with Hollander. He likes trouble, yes. Doesn’t mean he likes feeling scraped raw by wanting impossible things. Then they are marooned together for a very long, very strange night during which Ilya begins to suspect – shakily, reluctantly – that they might be… something.NOW COMPLETE!

Oh no, Shane thought. Oh God. No. Ignoring his clammy palms, he scanned the tiny hotel room, wondering where he could even lay his bag. Then, after a breathtaking second, he forced his eyes to meet Rozanov’s. With a mischievous smirk, Rozanov was sitting casually on the only bed, arm draped over the pillows—including the pillow that Shane had to sleep on. And Rozanov’s muscular chest and arms were on full, shameless display. Shane might just die. “So,” Rozanov said, “you and me, we sleep together?” Or: Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov were stuck in the same hotel room in Saskatchewan after the International Prospect Cup ended—and there was only one bed.

“You’re going to Boston.”
Long after Farah hangs up, the words keep echoing in Shane’s head. If he had thought his thoughts had been chaotic this morning, when his biggest problem had been his rival potentially fucking him when he came to Montreal in two weeks, that’s nothing compared to the code-red panic that started the instant he found out he was being traded to Rozanov’s team.
Rozanov, who was supposed to be his great career rival. Rozanov, who he’s hooked up with twice now. Rozanov, who had been planning on coming to Shane’s apartment in Montreal to fuck him the next time they saw each other. God, how on Earth is Shane going to walk into his locker room in Boston in a few days time?
The impending awkwardness of dealing with Rozanov is almost enough to eclipse the hurt he’s trying to ignore. The knowledge that Montreal values him so little that they’re willing to dispose of him only six months into his rookie season. Almost, but not quite.

Did you figure anything out? Shane writes, and flips the page around for Ilya to read it.
Wont like the answer, Ilya’s written, in his quick hand.
So he doesn’t have to take the pen back, Shane just shrugs. What?
Ilya sits down at the desk for a steady surface to explain.

The doors opened on the ninth floor and a player stood there, shocked at the display in front of him. Ilya hunched over in laughter, while Shane was fuming with anger. "I'll take the next one." And before the brunette could get off and find a different way downstairs, the doors came to a firm shut. Finally, it started moving again, Ilya's laughter dying down. And without the gleeful sounds, behind him, Shane could feel his anger taming down. He’ll just get off on the next floor. That was the plan until he felt the whole elevator shake with a jump. A jump performed by the 230 pound man. A jump that resulted in a terrifying screeching sound coming from above, followed by a thump, and the elevator coming to a halt. or Shane and Ilya are stuck in an elevator right before the 2014 MHL Awards

“I cannot believe that you invited him” He can believe it, actually. His mother invites him every year, this is just the first year he’s actually showed up. A fact which was news to Shane until he’d walked into the cottage, weekend bag slung over his shoulder, to the sight of Ilya Rozanov reaching up on his tippy toes, t-shirt riding up to expose the small of his back, helping his mom hang garland over a doorway Shane had, literally, nearly turned around and walked right back out Its Christmas and its snowing and Shane's mom's annoying (ly hot) best friend is stuck at the cottage

Ilya Rozanov is the thorn in Shane's side. He's rude, cocky, stressfully perceptive, and his stats are the only ones better than Shane's in the whole OUA. Even worse, they play on the same team, and the only person who might beat Shane out for the C next year is Rozanov. Ilya and Shane are so at odds they can't even manage to complete a stupid challenge at Playoff Camp without making fools of themselves and, according to Hazy, getting cursed. It's frustrating and embarrassing, until it becomes clear that the curse is very very real and it becomes horrifying instead. For the next six weeks (at least) Shane is stuck by Ilya's side, unable to go more than a few feet away without unbearable pain. Now, they somehow have to pull off going to class, winning the playoffs, and not killing each other, not to mention keeping their secret from their friends and teammates. Shane is so fucked.
