He's seen a few other guys get their bell rung. Has seen a couple of them get to their knees almost immediately; has seen them struggle to their feet, then almost wipe themselves out again. Has seen them kneeling with a dazed expression, trying to figure out where they are. And has seen a couple of them lie there. He's been one of them before. Swallowing down bile, he asks, "How long did I take to get up?" Please have tried. Please, please, have been one of those guys kneeling almost immediately. Please have been moving. Please have let Ilya seen that. A couple of years into playing on the same team together, Shane gets concussed. It's a little bit different this time.

You drank without me and now you miss me. Very sad for you.” “I—" Ilya’s smile dropped in an instant and his feet hit the carpet as he vaulted off the bed. Something was wrong. Hollander sounded wrong. “Hollander, what is wrong?” Ilya demanded and listened hard. Then he heard it. Shaky inhales and even shakier exhales that made his stomach drop to the floor. “I need—" Hollander’s voice broke as he took in a pained breath. He was in pain. Ilya started scrambling for his shoes. “Talk to me, Hollander.” _____________ Shane calls Ilya for help after sustaining a concussion and Ilya comes running.
