“So,” Shane said, after another minute. “Welcome to Montreal.”
Ilya just started laughing, his body shaking against Shane’s.
“Do not tell me you prepare for all your home games this way,” he said.
“I shouldn’t have prepared for any home games this way,” Shane said, glancing at the clock by the bed. He should go, but he couldn’t make himself.
There's a year between the ending and the epilogue of Heated Rivalry. This is it.

“You know you don’t have to do this,” Harris said as they walked from the car to the arena, Chiron prancing along in front of them. “I’m doing it,” Troy said. “Okay. But you don’t have to.” “Harris. I’ll survive reading whatever weird, dirty tweets you found,” Troy argued. “You think I’ve never seen thirst tweets?” In which the Centaurs read thirst tweets and it goes about how you'd expect.

“I could, though,” Shane said, not willing to give up just yet. “Seduce you. If we were meeting for the first time right now. As adults, I mean.” “You want to try?” Ilya asked. “If you think you can handle it,” Shane said. His blush was only getting darker, but the set of his shoulders was determined. Ilya smiled at him, helplessly charmed. Shane was such a competitive little shit, and he loved him so much. “What did you have in mind?”

Shane didn’t like to think of himself as vain, but he was looking at a personal grooming train wreck. This was not the man who had been the face of a Russian cologne Shane couldn’t pronounce no matter how many times Ilya repeated it to him. This guy had a hideous mustache that belonged on a porn star from the 1980s and a haircut that wouldn’t be out of place in a Billy Ray Cyrus music video. “Oh my fucking god,” Shane breathed, distraught. “What did you do?!” Ilya comes home from a road trip with a new look. Set during the Role Model season.

When Shane gets a call from his boyfriend when he absolutely should be trying to sleep, he's reasonably worried. In the end, though, he's got nothing to worry about it. Except maybe that his boyfriend is a dork.

“... Shane?” J.J. asked, reaching to touch his shoulder. “What— who was that? What’s happening?” “Ottawa Hospital I— I’m Ily— I’m Rozanov’s emergency contact.” He blinked. He knew he had to get moving, that he needed to haul ass and get to Ottawa yesterday, but for some reason Shane couldn’t bring himself to move. It felt like he was glued to the floor, fear had his limbs locked up, and everything he should be doing wasn’t coming to him. It was only when J.J. placed his other hand on his shoulder that Shane jerked back to the present.

"Look at that," Ilya rumbled, nodding at the two boys. "Your kid likes my kid. He’s got good taste. Maybe they’ll get married one day, eh? They be endgame. Imagine the dynasty. Hockey and royalty. We would be unstoppable."
Henry visualized, with crystal clarity, scooping Archie up, marching him back to the motorcade, and locking him in the highest tower of Windsor Castle until he was at least forty-five.
"My Archie is three," Henry said, feeling the same irritation he felt in the tunnel years ago. "And he is not marrying anyone. Least of all a chaotic, hockey-playing ruffian who steals equipment."
Ilya threw his head back and laughed, a booming sound that made a passing Mountie flinch. "You sound just like Shane's dad. 'Oh no, the big bad Russian is coming for my baby.'" He winked at Henry. "Spoiler alert, Wales: the Russian always wins."
