It’s Ilya Rozanov’s first Christmas with the Hollander family as Shane’s boyfriend. Between festive fluff, stolen kisses, and a spicy mischief right in front of Elf on the Shelf (omg scandalous), Ilya realizes he’s never felt this much at home before. AKA Lots of fluff, a little smut (including some light spanking for Shane), and then fluff again :P

  2. Ilya was never the biggest fan of Christmas presents, since it was always a competition of how much money you could spend on proving you loved each other more. When Ilya and Shane (and Anya) start to spend Christmas Day with Shane's very sentimental gift-giving parents, Ilya changes his mind about gifts in general. Typical fluff ensues.

Shane took a big breath, “I wanted to ask you something.” Ilya raised an eyebrow. Seriously, what was making Shane this nervous? “Ok.” “Ok. Um, ok, I wanted to ask you…” Shane took another breath before rushing the words out, “Willyoucometomycottagethissummer?” --- OR: Shane doesn't get hit during the game and gets to go through with his plan of asking Ilya to come to his cottage that night.

  4. Shane stares at him with those wide, brown doe eyes that liquifies Ilya’s heart. “Ilya is a pretty name.” He says softly. “You’re pretty too.” “Am I?” Ilya laughs lightly. He taps on Shane’s curled up fingers. Understanding Ilya’s intentions, Shane opens his palm up, letting Ilya guide it up to his face. Ilya lets go when Shane’s fingers are just shy of contact, dealer’s choice. Shane hesitates for a moment before deciding to cup Ilya’s cheek. “Mhm. Pretty eyes.” Shane says woozily, fingers gingerly tracing over Ilya’s features in a way that prompts Ilya to press into his husband’s palm even further. or the doped-up shane fic no one asked for

  5. At the cottage, Ilya Rozanov asked Shane Hollander to practice yoga. Taking another long sip from his bottle of cold beer, Ilya grinned. “Hey, Hollander,” he said in an upbeat voice, “where’s your yoga mat? I haven’t seen it.” Even though Shane was wearing sunglasses in the lazy afternoon light as he leaned down to check out the stove to prepare for dinner, Ilya could bet that Shane was rolling his eyes. “Please tell me you aren’t thinking about that stupid house tour again. Why?” “Why not?” Ilya shrugged. “Learned some new words too. ‘Fortress of solitude,’ am I saying it right?” he pronounced carefully, not wanting to mess up any syllable. “Because I still can’t believe you watched the whole damn thing!” Shane threw a rag resting on the grill’s handle to Ilya, who caught it easily only to toss it aside. “I did. I want to see it.” Shane turned around sharply to stare at Ilya. “See what? Me doing yoga?” A larger grin, almost wicked, was expanding on Ilya’s face. He knew how Shane loved it when he smiled like that—just a matter of time before Shane gave in. “Oh yes. You showed it to the camera crew. You can show it to me.” And Shane was already blushing. “All right,” Shane mumbled, moving his eyes away from Ilya’s face and starting to walk indoors. “I’ll be right back.” Ilya tried to hide his excitement by nodding slightly and drinking the beer again. A minute later, Shane reappeared with the light blue yoga mat, the same one that Ilya saw on his tv in Boston, and spread it on the grass. Ilya shook his head and clicked his tongue loudly. Shane paused, looking up with raised brows. “No, no, it’s wrong. Turn it to the side,” Ilya instructed. “I need the same angle.” Shane chuckled, “Asshole.” Nevertheless, he moved the yoga mat, and Ilya nodded with approval. What happened next was so mesmerizing that Ilya nearly let the bottle of beer slip through his fingers several times. Fucking hell, Shane was taking off his sunglasses, shoes, and socks. Then, he was on his stomach, legs flat as he hoisted his torso with the bulging muscles of his arms. And Shane got on one foot and stretched, his toned arms glistening under the sun. Each pose was meticulous, and Ilya felt like he was in a classroom in a high-end yoga studio. Instinctively, he held his breath and leaned forward in his Adirondack chair, his sunglasses unable to hide the intensity of the gaze underneath. When Shane turned around to face the lake, away from Ilya, and reached down, his tight, round buttocks flush against his shorts were too much. Okay. That was it! Ilya decided. In a flash, he carelessly put down his sunglasses, then the bottle, not caring that it fell and the rest of his drink spilled into the grass. He bridged the distance between them, kicked aside his sandals, and stepped on the mat to stand behind Shane. Shane wasn’t done with the last pose. He sucked in a breath when Ilya touched his stomach, pulling him in. “Want to learn yoga?” Shane laughed, leaning back into Ilya’s strong chest. “Yes. Maybe. I don’t care.” Ilya didn’t want to think about English words anymore. He wanted to pin Shane down on his slutty yoga mat that he dared to show to the whole world and fuck him. Turning to face Ilya, Shane smiled. The light breeze, sweet like lemonade, lifted a strand of hair by Shane’s ear. His hair was a little longer now compared to his look during the season, and Ilya loved it. And the light brown in Shane’s eyes as they reflected the sunlight was as tasty as honey. Ilya leaned in to kiss that adorable strand of hair, eyes taking in the bridge of freckles on Shane’s face. “You’re too cute,” Ilya said. Shane blushed and kissed Ilya back on the lips. But their touches on each other’s arms and chest soon became heated in the summer sun. Shane pulled off his tank top, and Ilya, not wearing anything on his chest to begin with, helped him throw it aside. “Show me more yoga,” Ilya murmured and turned Shane around, making them both get down. When Ilya towered over Shane, who was on his hands and knees, he tried to protest:

  8. Ilya feels breathless as he walks into the cottage. The living room is a magic, Christmas wonderland. The lights covering the cottage cast a warm, golden hue all around, beams are covered in tinsel and garland. The tree is so big and beautiful, standing tall in the corner of the living room. The fireplace has been lit and is burning hot, the soft sound crackling of wood filling the air. He can’t help but think about the first time he walked into this cottage and how much has changed since then. Back then, when it was just Shane’s cottage. When it was a place where they came to hide, to finally love each other the way they both so desperately been craving for years. Now, it is their home. aka a cottage fic, just a few years down the road The drive to the cottage is long. So boring and long. It doesn’t help that there is a thick blanket of snow covering the roads and Shane is driving ten miles under the limit. Ilya can practically feel the anxiety radiating from his body, by the way his shoulders are tense and how hard he is gripping the wheel. “You drive like grandma. We would be there by now if you put foot down.” Ilya jokes from the back seat. Shane’s eyes briefly shift to the mirror so he can shoot daggers at his husband before turning his attention back to the road. “I’m being careful. We have precious cargo in the car.” Ilya rolls his eyes and smiles fondly. Because he is right, there is precious cargo in the car. And said precious cargo is too busy watching the snow flakes fall from the sky through the window — giggling and babbling away to herself as her father tries his best to not freak out in the driver seat. “Your papa, he worry for no reason. Isn’t that right, Iris.” Ilya says gently as he taps his daughter on her nose. Her soft button nose with speckles of freckles covering the bridge. So beautiful just like her father. Iris Hollander-Rozanov, 9 months old and the light of Ilya’s life. She is practically Shane’s twin, soft dark hair and twinkly wide eyes — not that Ilya is complaining. She rolls her head so she is looking up at Ilya now rather than out of the window. A smile spreads across her face, gummy and bright as she reaches up to press her chubby fingers into his cheeks. He lets out a soft gasp and Shane momentarily whips his head around. “What? Is she okay? Do I need to pull over?” “She’s fine. Eyes on road.” Shane huffs as he turns back round, his shoulders hitching up closer to his ears. “Sorry, I just-“ “I know,” Ilya cuts him off, because he does know. Shane has been freaking about this trip for nearly a month now. Getting himself worked up over the what if ’s and worse case scenario’s. He is an over-thinker, has always been. So naturally, when they became parents, his anxiety increased by 1000%. “Is okay. Only ten minutes until we are at the cottage.” Ilya says softly as he leans forward, reaching to rest his hand on Shane’s shoulder. He brushes his thumb over the soft skin of his neck and the tension begins to melt away. “I bet is looking very Christmassy.” He changes the subject as he leans back to sit more comfortably. Iris is still quietly babbling away beside him as she grabs for his finger. “Yeah, mom said she has gone all out. She wanted to make Iris’s first Christmas extra special.” Shane replies with a smile. It would be extra special, Ilya thinks. They don’t really come by the cottage during the winter, there really isn’t much point when the lake is frozen over. But Yuna thought it would be nice for them all to get away for a few days, to be able to celebrate together as a family in private — which both Shane and Ilya agreed easily.

They have been together long enough for Ilya to know everything there is to know about Shane. Even now, almost 7 years after they first started this 'thing' between them, he still learns new details. Four times Ilya Rozanov reminded everyone exactly who the fuck they were dealing with (spoiler: still an asshole, still elite, still not going anywhere), and one time he didn’t have to be anything except soft. Or being out didn’t make him nicer. Being married didn’t make him softer. Being older didn’t make him weaker. And being a father? Well. That’t when things get complicated. 17. Shane and Ilya take their rookie to Kingfisher for some post-game celebration. It’s supposed to be a fun night out — just drinks, darts, and team bonding. Instead, Noah spends the entire evening having an existential crisis that culminates in him nervously showing up at their hotel room at 1 AM because he has something important to tell them. Something he’s been anxious about all night. Something that requires courage to say out loud. He’s straight. (Or the most supportive hockey husbands in the league accidentally become hockey dads to a terminally anxious rookie who thinks “coming out as straight” is a thing he needs to do.) The bus ride back to the hotel feels like a victory lap, even though they’re just crawling through Manhattan traffic at eleven PM on a Saturday night. Ilya’s sprawled across two seats near the back, his legs extending into the aisle because he’s never learned how to sit like a normal person. Shane’s next to him, scrolling through his phone with that little smile he gets when he’s reading congratulatory texts from his family. Three rows up, Noah Blanchard sits alone, staring out the window at the lit-up city like he’s never seen buildings before. “Hey,” Ilya calls out, loud enough that half the bus turns to look. “Baby Blanchard.” Noah’s ears go red — they always do — but he twists around in his seat. “Yeah?” “You come out with us tonight.” It’s not a question. Ilya doesn’t really do questions when he’s decided something. Shane looks up from his phone, eyebrows raised. “We’re going out?” “Of course we go out. We win. We are in New York. We go to Kingfisher.” Ilya says this like it’s the most obvious thing in the world, like they didn’t just play nearly twenty-three minutes each and it isn’t creeping toward midnight. “I’m not twenty-one yet,” Noah says, and his voice does that thing where it cracks a little at the end. He’s twenty, but sometimes he sounds about fifteen. “Is okay,” Ilya waves his hand dismissively. “You are with NHL team. Is fine.” “That’s not how the law works,” Shane says, but he’s already got that look on his face that means he’s going to give in. He’s always been soft when it comes to their teammates, and especially soft when it comes to Noah, who showed up to training camp in September looking like a scared puppy and hasn’t quite shaken the expression. “Scott will let him in,” Ilya insists. “He knows us. He knows Noah is good kid.” “Scott’s probably pretty pissed at us right now,” Shane points out. “We just beat them four to two.” Ilya grins, all teeth. “Exactly. So we go rub it in his face.” Shane sighs, but he’s smiling. He turns in his seat to look back at Noah properly. “You want to come? You don’t have to. No pressure.” Noah looks between them, his Adam’s apple bobbing as he swallows. “I mean ... yeah. Yeah, okay. If you think it’s cool.” “Is very cool,” Ilya says firmly. “You are Centaur now. You come out with Centaurs.” “Most of the team’s probably just gonna crash,” Shane says, glancing around the bus. Half the guys look like they’re already asleep, slumped against windows or each other. “But we usually hit up Kingfisher when we’re in New York. It’s ... well, you’ll see.” Noah nods, even though he looks a little uncertain. He’s got that wide-eyed expression he wears a lot, like the world is happening to him faster than he can process it. “Text your parents or whatever,” Shane adds. “Let them know you’ll be out a bit longer.” “Shane,” Ilya says, his voice dripping with amusement. “He is not baby.” “He’s our rookie,” Shane counters. “And his mom follows me on Instagram. I’m not dealing with an angry mom in my DMs.” Ilya laughs at that, loud and bright, the kind of laugh that makes other people want to laugh too. “Okay, okay. Yes, Noah, text your mama. Tell her your hockey dads are taking good care of you.” “Please don’t call yourselves that,” Noah mutters, but he’s pulling out his phone, so he’s clearly going to do it anyway. The bus pulls up to their hotel, and there’s the usual chaos of everyone gathering their stuff and stumbling out into the cold night air. Shane grabs both his and Ilya’s bags because Ilya’s already halfway to the sidewalk, turning back to yell at Noah to hurry up. “We meet in lobby in twenty minutes,” Ilya announces. “You change, we change, then we go.” “Do I need to dress nice?” Noah asks, hovering near the bus doors. Shane considers this. “It’s a bar. Just wear ... I don’t know, not your team hoodie?” “Wear something tight,” Ilya suggests with a wicked grin. “Show off that rookie body.” “Ilya,” Shane says, in that warning tone he’s perfected over the years. “What? I am just saying he should look good. We all should look good.” Ilya gestures at himself like he’s exhibit A, which, to be fair, he usually is. They scatter to their rooms — Noah’s somewhere on the fourth floor, while Shane and Ilya have a suite on the seventh because Ilya always upgrades them when they’re on the road. “Is investment in our happiness,” he always says, and Shane stopped arguing about it years ago. Shane showers quickly, because Ilya takes forever and they’re never going to make twenty minutes otherwise. When he comes out, toweling his hair dry, Ilya’s standing in front of the closet in just his briefs, scowling at his options like they’ve personally offended him. “It’s a bar, not a fashion show,” Shane says.

  19. Ilya’s spent his whole life hiding. Now he wants to go to Pride — their first as a married couple, in their new city, with their new team. Shane’s spent his whole career being careful, being quiet, being private about everything that matters. But maybe it’s time to stop being so fucking careful. (or the one where Ilya buys too many flags, the team shows up in matching shirts, and Shane learns what it feels like to be proud.) The humidity hits Shane the moment he steps out onto the back deck, coffee mug warm in his hand despite the August heat. Inside, Ilya is singing along to something in Russian — badly, enthusiastically, the way he does everything these days. The way he’s been doing everything since they got married, since Shane signed with Ottawa, since their whole fucking lives became this impossible thing Shane still can’t quite believe is real. “You are going to burn,” Ilya calls from inside, not even looking. Somehow he always knows when Shane’s outside without sunscreen. “It’s eight in the morning.” “Sun does not care about time.” The screen door slides open and Ilya emerges, shirtless, holding his own coffee and what Shane now recognizes as the industrial-sized bottle of sunscreen they bought at Costco last week. “Also, we have practice in two hours and I am not listening to you complain about sunburn through bag skate.” Shane takes the sunscreen because arguing is pointless. Ilya’s already rubbing it into his shoulders before Shane can even open the cap himself. “You’re very nurturing this morning,” Shane says. “I am keeping my husband alive. Is different.” But Ilya’s hands are gentle, thorough, spreading sunscreen across Shane’s neck, behind his ears, down his arms. “Also, I need to ask you something.” “That sounds ominous.” “Is not ominous.” Ilya moves around to face him, blocking out the sun. His eyes are very blue this morning, the way they get when he’s scheming. “Is fun thing. You like fun.” “I’m immediately suspicious.” “Shane.” Ilya’s hands land on his hips, thumbs hooking into the waistband of Shane’s shorts. “Capital Pride is next weekend.” Shane’s stomach does something complicated. “Okay.” “I want us to go.” The deck is suddenly very quiet except for the sound of someone’s lawn mower three houses down. Shane takes a sip of coffee, buying time. “To Pride.” “Yes, to Pride. In Ottawa. Our city now.” Ilya’s face is open, hopeful, and fuck, Shane knows where this is going. “I have never been to Pride. Not as myself. Not as-” He gestures between them. “As this.” Shane’s chest tightens. “I know.” “In Russia, I could not even-” Ilya stops, swallows. “I could not even think about it, you know? Not just illegal, but dangerous. And then in Boston, I was not ready. Was not out. Was hiding everything.” His hands squeeze Shane’s hips. “But now I am here. With you. And I am married to you. And I can—I want to be there. I want to see it.” “Ilya-” “You do not want to go.” It’s not a question. Ilya’s face does something complicated, shuttering slightly. “That’s not what I said.” “But is what you think.” Shane sets his coffee down on the deck railing, carefully. “I just—it’s going to be a lot. Media will be there. Everyone will-” “Everyone already knows we are married,” Ilya interrupts. “We did not hide this. You signed with Ottawa, everyone knows why. Is not secret.” “I know it’s not a secret.” Shane runs a hand through his hair, frustrated with himself, with how he can’t seem to just be as brave as Ilya makes it look. “I’m just—I’m not good at this stuff. The public thing. The-” “The being proud of us thing?” “That’s not fair.” Ilya’s expression softens. He steps closer, cups Shane’s face in both hands. “Moya lyubov. I am not trying to be unfair. I am trying to-” He pauses, searching for words. “I spent my whole life being afraid. Hiding. Pretending. And now I do not want to do this anymore. I want to go to Pride with my husband. I want to hold your hand in public and not be scared. I want to-” His voice cracks slightly. “I want to exist, okay? As myself. As bisexual man. As married man. As Ilya Rozanov who loves Shane Hollander more than anything.” Shane’s throat is tight. “Fuck.” “Is good fuck or bad fuck?” “Good fuck.” Shane pulls Ilya closer, wraps his arms around him. “Always good fuck when you do the romantic speech thing.” Ilya laughs against his shoulder. “So you will come?” “Of course I’ll come, you manipulative asshole.” “I am not manipulative. I am persuasive. Is different.” “You’re both.”
