With a little [a lot] of help from Harris Drover, it’s all going according to plan. [Well, except Ilya keeps saying that being public friends means they're now officially friends with benefits. Shane did not buy Ilya a ring to be demoted to friends with benefits.]

    The camera tracks Shane and Ilya as they race back up the ice. They cross the finish line in a blur of speed and round on Harris.

    “I don’t-,” Harris says, “It was so tight. Maybe we call it a draw?”

    Ilya throws his arms up. “[Beep], is not a f-[beep]-ing draw, is-”

    “Harris, what the [beep]?” Shane shouts, eyes wide. “What do-”

    The two of them abruptly fall silent.

    “Um, sorry, sorry.” Ilya shrugs.

    Shane flushes. “Sorry, yeah, sorry Harris.”

    “So I’m guessing,” says Harris, “you want a re-do?”

    “Cannot be a tie,” Ilya says at the same time Shane says, “draws aren’t a real thing.”

    Harris can’t help it. He bursts out laughing.

I don’t want to come out for other people; I want to come out for me, and I feel like a big announcement would make everyone want us to answer their questions all at once, and I don’t want that. Whatever the public knows about our relationship… it should be on our terms, not cause some interviewer asked us a question and we felt pressured to answer.”

    “So… like a soft launch?” asks Yuna. “I could get behind that.”

    Shane nods.

    “Okay.” Ilya puts his hand on top of Shane’s. “Let’s soft launch.”

    Or Shane and Ilya decide to soft launch their relationship.

Give people time to wrap their heads around the idea, so that by the time you guys announce your relationship, most people will be expecting it.” Later that week, Shane Hollander @shanehollander24 posted: Great game tonight @realrozanov but don’t get your hopes up when Montreal’s in town.
