Five times someone asked who Lily was, and one time Shane told the truth.
Or, “A Lesson in the Art of Subtlety,” presented by Shane Hollander, and witnessed by the Montreal Voyageurs.
(Inspired by the scene where Shane gets the dickpick and slams his phone down on the bed, and in ep4 when he aggressively tells Hayden he is going to visit a “friend”)

“Ilya,” Shane whispers. “Ilya, baby, can you open your eyes?” He’s met with silence, and the frantic tremor of his heart turns into an earthquake. The ice beneath him seeps into his veins and freezes his blood. Panic claws at his chest, scaling his ribcage like a ladder and lodging in his throat. He can barely breathe around the terror. “Ilya, you need to open your eyes. You need to look at me.”

Five times Ilya lied (but not really) to his teammates about Shane, and one time he didn’t have to.
Inspired by two Cliff Marlow lines: In the airport, when their game with Montreal gets cancelled and he tells Ilya, “Whoever she is, she’s gonna get over it,” and the scene in the locker room when he says, “Wow, this Montreal girl works you up, brother—you’re straight up blushing, Roz.”
Or, the Boston Bears’ perspective of Ilya and Shane’s “secret” relationship over the years

It… it was a joke, right? A weird prank? Hollander and Rozanov… It didn’t make any sense. They hated each other! They had nothing in common! It couldn’t be real. And even if it was, it couldn’t be love, right? Or: five times the world got a glimpse of how much Shane and Ilya love each other and one time they kept it to themselves

Five and a Half Beers and Just as Many Chalupas by Erisenyo
Game Changers Series - Rachel Reid
2025-11-30
Hollander as an opponent has always been focused and precise and an absolute nightmare for a defenseman, the kind of player you dread facing. Hollander as a teammate is…well, he’s still focused and precise, and intense about every drill and lift and film session to the point of being more than a little intimidating. Hollander on five-and-a-half beers and just as many chalupas is something else entirely. OR, The Centaurs get to know Shane Hollander.

Smacking a kiss onto Shane's cheek like he did after the All-Stars, Ilya grins in challenge. Shane's not taken off his helmet yet, so the angle was awkward, but when he glances nervously at the team around them no one seems judging, so he smiles shyly. Ilya's open affection is a lot to get used to. Even after a while with this team, he still fears they'll react badly, but they never do. In fact, their team members seem elated. "You tell him, Captain!" Bood laughs. "We should hang a banner. Danger: Beware of Ilya Rozanov's husband." "Why do you get a victory kiss and we don't, Roz?" Troy calls teasingly. --- Or, the one in which Hollzy gets kisses.

“He looks so happy,” Jackie said, joining him at the railing. She rested her head against his shoulder, wrapped an arm around his waist. “It’s really nice to see.” “Yeah, it really is,” Hayden said. He sighed heavily. “Fuck. I’m gonna have to start liking Ilya Rozanov, aren’t I?” Jackie giggled, rubbing his back in a placating manner. “I’m afraid so, babe.” OR 5 times Hayden started understanding Shane and Ilya's relationship, and the 1 time he finally told Shane he did.

“Go away,” Ilya said, his voice muffled by something. Shane would bend space and time to give Ilya anything, but he would not grant him this. Instead, he pushed the door open, his heart breaking at the sight of Ilya in his massive bed, somehow looking tiny beneath the covers. “Ilya,” he said, the name escaping like an exhale. He had so much to say. So many things that needed fixing. So many apologies he owed him. “Shane, please-“ “I’ll go.” “Yes. Thank you.” “No - not… not to Montreal. To the party. If you’ll still have me.“ OR Shane attends Boodram’s Boxing Day Party. This is how it goes.
