“Um. Hi,” Shane starts, looking down at the boy. The boy just looks up at him, a puzzled expression on his face. “кто ты?” The boy says in some funny language Shane has never heard of. “Um.. I only speak English.” The boy's eyebrows furrow, but he doesn’t seem all too deterred by the language barrier. Instead, he hands Shane a piece of pink chalk. He points to the drawing he’s been working on, saying something in that funny language again Or: Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov meet when they are six. They aren’t rivals, but they still fall in love. Some small moments in that process.

"I know it's not fair to you. It's such bullshit, I should speak your language. Everyone should. You speak my language so I don't have to guess, but I do have to guess. I'm always guessing and getting things wrong." He swallows, thick and wet into the phone mic, a little exhalation at the end, like it's an effort to keep his spit inside his mouth. "Hollander, you are drunk. Are you alone?" -- 7am in the morning, in Moscow, Ilya wakes up to a drunk phone call from 11pm Dallas.

Shane Hollander was a man defined in the ways that set him apart from others. ... Shane is autistic, he may not have the language for that, but it does not make it any less true. Love, when you are autistic, can be complicated.

Shane has been so happy to be moulded by Ilya, pushed, pulled and prodded. He never really considered how easy and natural it has always felt because it has never felt otherwise. He likes it when Ilya guides him into doing what he wants: is happy to beg, to stave off an orgasm, to perform and show off for Ilya. Now? Shane wonders, what is the difference here? What is new about this? Shane looks at the love of his life and all the little things he keeps in his heart about Ilya. The tunnel vision clears somewhat, and Shane thinks, oh, he needs it, like how I need it. Ilya isn't just a happy participant in Shane's inherent submissiveness; he's actively seeking it OR Shane somehow doesn't realise that Ilya likes Shane's submissiveness because it makes him feel important etc. He catches on, and they have very sloppy sex about it.

would you still love me by UglyGreenJacket
Heated Rivalry (TV), Game Changers Series - Rachel Reid

“Hey,” Ilya’s voice, deep and rough, resonates through Shane all the way down to the bottoms of his feet. He turns his head toward the sound, but doesn’t open his eyes, instead opting just to keep the blissed-out look on his face as he waits to hear what Ilya’s going to say. Shane imagines it’ll be something like, ‘You are perfect. Such a good boy.’ Or maybe in Russian, ‘I love you so much.’ But much more likely, ‘I give you ten minutes, and then I blow you in the shower.’ Fingers brush against his cheek, and Shane leans into the touch, lost in the feeling of being loved and wanted so wholly. And then, “Would you still love me if I was a worm?” His eyes open, and he wonders if his dopamine-addled brain has just misheard. “I’m sorry. What?”

"I am flirting with you," Ilya said. "I have been flirting with you for literal months. Intentionally."
Shane stared at him.
"I like you," he said. "Romantically. I have for a long time - "
"Wait," Shane interrupted. "You were being serious?"
Ilya has a plan. It involves flirting, proximity, dates-that-aren’t-dates, strategic jealousy, and an unreasonable amount of patience.
Shane does not notice any of it.
Or: Five times Shane completely misses the signs of seduction, and the one-time Ilya stops being subtle.

Did you figure anything out? Shane writes, and flips the page around for Ilya to read it.
Wont like the answer, Ilya’s written, in his quick hand.
So he doesn’t have to take the pen back, Shane just shrugs. What?
Ilya sits down at the desk for a steady surface to explain.
3 things
1 its curse. if true we can break it
2 its spell. if true we can break it
3 we are soulmates. if true we are fucked“No,” Shane mutters, before he can stop himself. Immediately, he slams a hand over his mouth.
or: Ilya and Shane are soulmates, and their bond prevents them from both talking and being apart. Unfortunately, the only thing that’ll make the pain stop is confessing the one thing they can say: that they’re in love.

When he played for Montreal, the other guys on the team would often give him weird looks. He knew he wasn't great at making friends but he also didn't think it was necessary to be friends with everyone on the team. Still, it hurt how hostile some of them got over Shane's strict routines. Some even commented about his "psycho behaviour" but usually Hayden would make them shut up. Only when Shane was having panic attacks, the others would be more aggressive about it. They weren't worried about Shane, all they seemed to care about was that he was different. ~ or: Shane's experience with being autistic through his life. And finding peace with it!

lead me to the floor even though i'm not a dancer by supremecourtpizza

The cottage faced east, like a church. When the sun set it did not flood the living room like it did in the morning, but peaked through the trees and the back windows to leave irregular shapes of light on the floor, the furniture, and Shane Hollander’s thighs. Ilya observed the scene from the kitchen; his boyfriend, his boyfriend, lying naked on the couch, flat on his stomach, eyes closed, half asleep and a little flushed mark between his shoulder blades where Ilya had kissed him so hard it broke tiny blood vessels under his skin. The evening after Ilya meets Shane's parents for the first time. A little ditty I wrote to satisfy my ravenous need for an episode seven. Title from Hot & Heavy by Lucy Dacus
